Fredrik is a fucking improvising machine! I absolutely love the way he plays every his solo in a different way. His style is so damned unique, and FBM's solo just melts my brains[:-}
This solo at 4:57 is amazing. It really fits with the music somehow, its like a robot communicating or somehow. Definitely a sound of its own, creative and unique
These guys are at the top without a doubt. I can't believe the drummer is playing ALL of that stuff man. This is the good kind of insanity coming from the entire band.
I must have heard this song a 1000 times and only just picked up on something with Haakes drumming at a particular point. They really are like ‘fast-paced Tool’ haha
@LessthanJake14 PRECISELY! I mean true death metal/groove metal, ect, vocalists that know their technique, and can sustain it without diminishing their vocals know whats up. I love Jens, because his vox are as good (heck even a little better than they were a decade ago!) A guy that has really evolved is Randy Blythe. On LOG's first album his growl was low and generic. By their second album, he was already, 2 full registers above that. Now a days his vocals are quite unique. I love that stuff.
@TreyMetalGuitarist totally agree F thortendal is a guitar genius who many guys can hold a 8 string IBANEZ (yeah Devin Townsend can too lol) I got a 7 Strings one ..not easy to play ...but AWSOME... C ya
@MetallicaFan349 Hit The Wall makes me dream of where LOG will go next. All of their albums were so identifiable as Groove Metal, but like all the unique/great bands they added their own style to Groove, which is their speed, drumming, and vocals. Wrath for me seemed definitely more directed to thrash, but the kicker was they still popped in the grooves, and allowed the vocals to be changed a bit, which i LOVED. I saw them live in 09, it was the second best show I've ever been too. They're sick
@MetallicaFan349 Ya I meant New American Gospel. I like all of lamb of god, including the old band with Abe Spear, as you said Burn The Priest. Randy has evolved so much more over times, hell the whole band has. Mark Mortin comes to mind as well, a guy who used to put out about 3 solos per album, all pentatonics, now gets around 6 songs to solo on per album, and can sweep, shred very very well, and not stick to strictly one style. There new single Hit the Wall demonstrates his growth.
@MetallicaFan349 Sweet! I never knew that, I just thought they went back to Richmond to record it for Iron Man 2 the game, seems I was wrong. Having said that I guess perhaps that it does kinda tie in with Wrath, as the leads and melodies sort of mirror another song off that album - Condemn The Hive (I love this song btw.) So yes, I agree their next album (from how they have progressed further and further over the years in their song writing skills,) should indeed be mind blowing!! :)
@Azgaroth666 I approve of this. And the way he improvises over FBM in particular, he really cant go "wrong" because it sounds like a fucking cyborg or something. I dont understand how the fuck he does it :S
Its from a company called Nevborn. They got their first 8 strings from them, but discontinued to use it due to tuning problems. Then they switched to Ibanez.
@gnome7in8overalls I won't/will. For a guy who went from singing Glam Metal, to a thrash style, to groove metal, i think he is very very dynamic. HOWEVER, his voice did go to shit in the mid-late nineties, granted he was a heroin junkie. He has a band called down, and superjoint ritual, he is clean now, and I think he has a pretty recognizable/good death growl. But hey its ur opinion, an i respect that. His growl was the best for far beyond driven. Trendkill (96) was when he started shooting up.
@007Pogo uh.. Meshuggah are a good band no doubt.. but Def Leppard and whitesnake and all the other old school bands are the bands these guys worship too.. so give respect to them to...
HAN SPELAR IN EN J*VLA MODO JERSEY!!! MoDo kan fan int spela hockey.. ;D Skellefteå AIKs största Metalhead.. det är jag det!! \m/ Wacken 2012! \m/ 666 \m/
@nolifewoutdeath Responses will not be read? Then why bother putting up your two cents on here?? I seriously doubt Meshuggah were worried about becoming "the next big thing." Meshuggah are NOT Nu-Metal. Slipknot cater to 5th grade fan boys. Meshuggah cater to people who know what the fuck is going on. There is no valid reason to compare the two.
Best screamer besides Corey Tailor? ARE YOU SERIOUS? There are TONS of guys better than him, he doesn't even scream half the time he sings. I mean look at guys like Randy Blythe, Joe Duplantier, Steffen Kummerer, Phil Anselmo, Dallas Toler-Wade, and Jens. I mean that wasnt even an opinion, it is just farce, anyone of those guys just listed are better than Corey. A.) Because Slipknot......how could we take them seriously. B.) Corey said the Screaming hurts his throat. So clearly he isn't the best
