This album came in 2005. For almost 20 years now I am listening to this. And yes, the 06:23 part is probably, at least for me, the most haunting thing that I´ve heard in metal in my 36years of life.
i had heard some songs from Chaosphere and Nothing before Catch 33 came out and thought it was just a lot of noise. then Catch 33 came out, i bought the CD on impulse because it looked cool and after listening to it i was like "this kind of sucks, why did i waste my money?" then i gave it another chance a week later and it clicked! Something curious kept me coming back to this band until it reaonated with me. Now its one of the few metal bands i still listen to.
Looks like the rest of the band has made the transition to Scandinavian God to match up with Tomas. That Stoneman Ibanez Fredrik uses looks so freakin badass.
Damn, thank you so much for capturing this! I almost had a mild panic attack during Mind’s Mirror yesterday, as my brain was going “Wait! WAIT! Are they gonna do In Death is Life / In Death is Death?!”
I never thought about it until now but the band bangs their head in 4/4 while playing those wack riffs. Try playing air guitar along to "In Death Is Death" while nodding in 4/4, it adds a whole other level of difficulty, at least for me it does (i cant do it).
You can start to associate with poly meters by the relationship that exists between turning signals of cars (different timings per brand) while at an intersection. Similarly, if you walk on a sidewalk, and pace your steps evenly, you will likely create a poly meter with your walk, based on the difference of length between your steps and the length of the cement blocks.
Incredible how they are able to flawlessly play the riffs at 2:27 and 3:43. I've listened to them a million times and I could never crack the code to any of them. They sound so fucking random!
What an epic, magnificent piece of music!! That massive, blistering, atmospheric soundscape created by "just" 2 guitars, bass, drums and Jens's vocals! A profound piece, metal it might be, on this level it's fucking Art!!! Overwhelming❤️
What a masterpiece! I'm lucky enough to have witnessed this twice out of three times I saw the band live. Not bad 😃 Also Straws pulled at random with Marten playing the solo part, it was like an out of body experience.
Holy crap Fredrik has short hair and the mega beard now lol, I haven't seen him in such a long time. I still remember the first time I saw them in like '02 or '03 whenever the Nothing album came out. I was obsessed with Chaosphere when I first heard New Millenium Cyanide Christ and I remember waiting so long for them to come to my town. They were still pretty unknown in the USA so they were playing these crazy flawless shows in small basement venues back then. I miss them playing all the old Destroy Erase Improve songs and even some of the older stuff like Humiliative or Sickening. Their newer material is great too, but I just miss some of the classic thrashy songs.
Proof that having long hair makes head banging not painful and effortless. Cut the long hair off equals less head banging for fear of a headache. Still with short hair…still badass. 😎
It's an expression pedal that controls his delay for his leads. When he is tapping his foot it's not engaged so he just uses it to tap his foot to the music. When he plays his leads, he engages it, and it allows him to manually control his delay.
...imagine paying good money to go to a concert, you work your way to the front row, wait there for what seems like forever, to see your favorite band and a photographer promptly stands right in front of you taking close-ups of the band for half the show...
His foot is definitely on something. But he might just be tapping his foot to keep the time while the pedal is turned off. I do that with my wah pedal sometimes.
