Great tutorial. You can also test the resistance and microhenries of the inductors with the esr meter. The reactance formula is 2𝛑FL. That would be 2 x 3.14 x frequency of esr meter which is 100kHz x 100uH Just plug it in. R=0.628 X L(uH) L(uH)=R(ohms)/0.628
I have this Mesr100. It's accurate if you don't change the leads. You have to keep the original length. I tried all kinds of solutions because it's so cumbersome to use sometimes because of the leads. I solved all of these problems by getting a Bob Parker blue esr meter. No problems with long leads.
@@guateque1718 agree, and you would think I would spend on it too having made this video. But you know what? I replace all the high ESR caps in one CRT TV and I'm done LOL. Now that being said, in the next 6 months when a gaming console or something a little older starts to exhibit odd behavior, then I might pull our my MESR100. So for me, $60 for one maybe twice a year vs $130 is okay. But for the every day/week guy out there, I'd totally recommend the Blue.
@@motleypixel I use mine daily. If cheaper and accurate is what people want for the twice a year repair then I can recommend the Ezm esr 2501c. I used one the other day and it's perfectly fine AND has long leads. It also does DCR. Costs about $30 to $40.
