Any idea how to access iMessages direct in the iCloud...I'm moving to note 10 but hope to access the messages after. Will they remain on my iPad still I wondered too
Aaron, thank you so much for this video. I'm struggling because I ran out of storage on my Mac, so I am no longer able to update. I was wondering why I had around 10GB of messages stored on my Mac, but then you pointed out that this is only part of all of your messages, that there is even more stored in iCloud. I'm still unable to update, but you answered one of my questions. Thanks!
How do you delete the messages that are stored on iCloud to make more room? For example, you had 26 GB on the cloud. How would you delete from that 26 GB to free up space on the cloud?
This is what I’ve been struggling with. I want to be able to reclaim storage space in my meagre 5GB iCloud account. I contacted Apple support and I was told it’ll get removed automatically but I’m not so sure. As I’ve set the “keep messages for” option to 30 days, I’m hoping in 31 days the iCloud storage will reflect what I have on the phone/iPad.
How do i get the iCloud storage to delete ancient messages? In other words i have deleted old messages on my notebook and on my iPhone, but it doesn't reflect the 1.8 GB on iCloud. So Mac appears to be forcing me to buy extra storage very soon. Thank you for your videos and help
Thank you for this awesome tutorial- what if I want to backup messages from 2 to 5 years ago to make 3.5 GIGs of space on my 5 GIG iCloud account- I have texts that i would definitely want to have for sentimental reasons but don t need them using space on my account. ¿What are some solutions? Thank you kindly for your response.
I recently deleted all of my messages from one conversation. Is it possible to restore them ? I always have iPhone backup turned on and my phone is automatically backed up every day.
I’m curious as to what device “wins” the iCloud storage history for a message chain. Meaning if you have an iPad and iPhone- and the iPhone has a message chain that is 10 exchanges to “Joe.” And then your iPad has only 5 of those same exchanges with “Joe.” When you turn on messages in icloud on both the iPad and the iPhone-which chain will it pick as the message in iCloud. If it says the iPhone is the dominant one to start- then the iPad will “catch up” and have 10 exchanges. BUT what if it thinks the iPad is the dominant chain- then will it delete some of the iPhone exchanges in that messages chain (since it started with 10) and go down to only the same 5 from the iPad. Or will it somehow combine all of them together form both devices so it has a combination from both.
thank you for this! i backed up my phone and lost all of the attachments on every text thread, but it still says i have 47GB on my icloud from message. Any ideas how I can access those? Thank you!
great video , intresting is that i dont even have an iphone nor i ever had, but i still love watching ur vids, they way u explaing things are so damn good, i think u know more about these phones than Apple does lol
When I turned mine on it changed the setting to keep my messages forever. I really don't have a need to keep anything more than 30 days so I changed it back
I noticed I am using 675 MB of iCloud storage for messages. I went through and deleted all my messages except for a few that were current. I still have 675 MB being used. What is taking up so much space when I deleted all those messages? I want my messages to sync but I don't want to use all that space just for text messages. I can disable and delete and it says I have 30 days to download my messages. I don't see any way to download messages. Messages aren't viewable in iCloud. If I choose to keep messages for 1 year or 30 days are those messages that reside on the phone or iCloud? Very confusing and not much information.
Great video, thanks! I understand that it syncs both iMessages and simple sms in iCloud, right? Does that mean we can do a clean iOS install on our devices without losing no sms nor iMessages, for people like me that like to keep them all?
G’day mate, How do I transfer the iCloud storage to iPhone without losing any message. I have heaps of storage on my phone, not on the cloud. Thankyou in advance
Hey man. Good video. Need your help. My dad lost his iPhone. New iphone arrived today so we restored from previous backup. The Messages app on his iPhone is empty but when you go on his iPad that is full with his previous messages. Do you no how to make these messages appear on the iPhone? I checked in settings and iCloud > apps using iCloud and messages is toggled green on both iPad and iPhone. So I don’t understand why the iPhone is not seeing the iMessages?
i have 36GB worth of messages on my iphone storage and 60GB of messages on my icloud but it doesn’t let me transfer all my messages to my icloud storage to get rid of the messages stored on my iphone storage and also i have 64GB i’ve only had my iphone for a year and i don’t know what to do
hello great video! if i uploaded my messages to icloud, would i need to have a wifi/cellular connection to see the ones in icloud that aren’t downloaded on my phone?
If I never had the “messages” tab turned on in my phones iCloud settings, can I still recover deleted messages from the past? Or can you only recover messages you’ve deleted after you have turn on that “messages” tab in your phone settings? Thank you in advance and great video.
Hello can i ask a question? Im using my dad’s icloud account,So when im chatting to his number he can’t see or seen my text how can i text him so he can see what im texting to him?thankyou
I'm currently in a legal matter and need to print several of my text chains from my messages or save them to a PDF file. Could you please help me? Ex: I have a message chain from 2015 and would like to save the entire text chain to a PDF file of I could do sections. thank you.
Hey Aaron, I updated my iPhone and iPad to 11.4 this morning and enabled iMessages in iCloud. It’s working flawlessly between the phone and iPad Pro when I delete a convo...however I’m noticing that the messages are not being deleted from my AppleWatch (series 3) 🤔 any ideas? Does the “syncing across all devices” not include the watch? Thanks!
I’m on the same boat I deleted some important messages on my iPhone 12 but on my Apple Watch the messages are still there. I wonder if I can link them to my iPhone. I need to restore those messages on my iPhone because it includes important pictures and videos.
Well explained. I have a question - There were instances that my iPhone was sent for repairs / replacement and the iMessages were sent from my Mac, will it sync those messages that are missing in either of devices and what are the chances of message duplication? Appreciate your response.
Thank you for your video. It was helpful, and confirmed that I had made the right selections on my devices. THat being said, my mac finally showed me it had synced the messages from my iphone. Here is my question. I have gone back to 3 months ago, and actually even 3 weeks ago, and the audio messages that I sent from my iphone show up on the mac, but with a "0 min" value. I am unable to download them, and they seem to not be accessible. Any hints?
hi, thanks for your video - however my iphone 7plus is giving me a message that message "messages in iCloud is not available because iCloud and Messages account are different" - may I ask if you can suggest a solution so that I can back up my messages to the cloud? thank you and regards
Another reason for Apple to get more money from you. You'd have thought that they would hold onto them on the cloud for free. Knew they wouldn't though. Thanks for sharing!
Aaron, I noticed messages received (on my iPhone) from a non-apple device will not sync to my iPad. Message sent from another apple device will sync. What up with that?
I still can’t get an answer about privacy. If you enable this iMessage icloud sync, does Apple retain the encryption keys like other icloud synced data and could theoretically decrypt and read your messages if court ordered?
Hi Aaron, I have a question about Apple Music and Music Match, I don't know how it work and also I have around 3.000 songs in my iTunes but I'm not able to activate Icloud Music. I'm living in Uruguay (LATAM). Could you please explain how to use those services or what I can do in my location? Thanks you!
Hello. Can you do a video about downloading pictures that are in old messages and don’t download? It shows “tap to download IMG_9045” I click on them and it kind of glitches but does nothing. Please help 🙏 I have iOS 15.5 on iPhone

Hi, how do you receive sms texts from your iphone to your mac in 2023? How do i turn it on so i can receive my sms texts on my mac as well. Thank you in advance
i really hope someone can answer this. it may be long but i'm very confused. so i have 11.4 GB worth of messages (i think combined with my mac) and i have to downgrade back to 5 GB because i can't pay monthly. if i disable icloud for messages... will it delete all messages that were uploaded to icloud? i have really important messages and i don't want to lose them. also, will it not let me use my mac to text anymore? thanks.
How can I manage the storage in iCloud. The iCloud shows me 5 GB used for iMessage, but one step far shows me only 2,5 GB. Where is the difference of space?
I just got my new XS max and restored from the iPhone 6 backup. I accidentally erased a text message on my 6 and it disappeared on my XS. How can I get it back. Thank you
I went to delete a picture from a text conversation and selected "delete all" in error. How can I restore or find that information in the iCloud. Is this like photos? I know if I delete a phone on the iPhone it is still in the cloud until I delete it there. Is it the same with text messages? I do have "messages" turned on.
Hi I appreciate your videos and I am seeking your help on an issue I have with my Wattsapp on my iPhone as follows: I want my iPhone to automatically save everything which is being sent or received on my Wattsapp account to my iCloud account with me deleting them. Or if that is not possible so e.g. if have backed up my wats to my iCloud and then I have deleted everything on my Wattsapp can I get them back without uninstalling and reinstalling Wattsapp and what is way to do so. Thanks and excuse my prolonged question 🙂

I’m confused about something Aaron. I activated message syncing but my “conversations” is showing 0 kb and when I click on conversations, it shows a partial list of message threads I’ve saved. Please help
StreetsAhead120 I was having the same. But if you click in conversations and click in one of the conversations and go back again you will see now the storage uses. Mine was 0kb I do what I just told you and now shows 856mb. Sure on next updates will fix this because is confusing
Is there a way to recover a deleted text message that was sent from another I-Phone to my I-Phone. The text messages was there along with mine and then it was gone but my texts messages remain.
