Messi has never been a “skiller” even though he could easily do crazy skills if he wanted to. He just always goes for the more efficient move. If you look at the actual statistics he has completed way more dribbles past players than Cristiano. Not only that, but more of those dribbles result in an actual scoring chance, that’s the big difference. Like they say, playing simple is the most difficult thing, most players are always doing too much and end up losing the ball. Messi does just what he needs to. There’s a reason no other player is as efficient as him.
