#Lionel #Messi Masterclass vs #Nigeria (Under 20 Youth World Cup Final) 2005 English Commentary Download link: if interested please send email to raheemsadiq.22@gmail.com
I was in high school when this WC took place and I was a huge Zidane-R9 fan at the time. One day my friend told me that he just witnessed the best player in the world. I thought that he was talking about Zizou or R9. Nope. He told me 'Lionel Messi' and I went 'who'. Lionel Messi, remember the name, he said. Almost 20 years since then, my friend was correct.
Watching this again with a different mood and maturity from when i watched it live in 2005(teenage age). Messi was phenomenal. However the Nigerian team was a better team in the game(watch the full match). Was so proud of this SiaSia's boys of then. The night of this match still stays in my head strongly. RIP Promise Isaac, as well as my late father whom this match also reminds me of. Life is indeed a book for stories to be written on. Lesson to learn here... The support system you have would make or mar you in your life's journey. No MESSI today without good team support, which is the ONLY difference between Mikel Obi and Messi.
I guess you guys misunderstand the support I talk about. It's not about the player being in the team having a big name with stars. It's about the player having a player or two to understand and work well with. You could have a team without a big name, but would get to the top, take the case of Morocco at the Qatar 2022 world cup. The support system issue is what Victor Osimhen currently faces in the Super Eagles team, despite the star players in the team.
I watched this entire tournament on television and was at this game and this video encapsulation of the game does them no justice. Nigeria actually outplayed Argentina in this match but for their two lapses in defense. John Obi-Mikel put on a clinic himself as he was as leaving the Argentinians in his wake all night long. The Nigerians also were denied their own legitimate claims for a penalty. Messi was deserving of all of the praises bestowed upon him in this tournament. He singlehandedly destroyed ALL of Argentina's opponents, which included Colombia, Spain and Brazil (in that order) in the knockout stages, but make no mistake, John Obi-Mikel and Nigeria were brilliant in this tournament as well, especially when they really turned it on in the knockout phase.
It annoys me when people compare Messi with anyone…he won the u20 World Cup for Argentina and also won for their national team. We even won the golden ball on both occasions. Messi is goat. He even won the Olympic gold medal. This man has won everything.
Those people who always say that it is his behavior to not chase the ball. where are they now ? in his youth age, Messi was every where on the pitch fighting with everyone.
Not always those who started watching football due to lockdown i guess when he was young till 2015 or 16 he was not like today even till 2018,19 he support defence but in last 3,4 year he lack stamina and lost pace very much
The 1st one was a clear penalty sir. Adeleye said he was planning to end MEssi career because the guy too stubborn. 😂 we met him at a mechanic workshop then. He say MEssi na problem o say to mark ham na wahala and he was trying to stop him from outside but will not fall.
It doesn't matter that you are from Nigeria. In this instance, I can say that your point of view is legitimate. Nigeria was robbed in this game. Neither penalty was legitimate and the Nigerians themselves had a legitimate penalty claim denied. The entire stadium (except the Argentinian fans, of course) booed the referees at the end of the match.
I remember this game as a kid in Nigeria I was mad Messi did that to us I prefer Ronaldo but I knew Messi was a problem back then. It’s nostalgic watching the past
I watched this match back then...it was painful how Nigeria was robbed by the ref...thanks for VAR... African teams are no longer robbed openly again. 😢😢😢😢
I was 14y an I was a Big fan of this Nigeria team. I wished they win. One part of my heart hated Messi, the second part known that One day he would be the best football player ever. And he was wright. Thank you for everything Messi.
@@yousciencelab5307your point is very arguable and one I can be inclined to agree with. Both players were the linchpin playmakers for their respective teams and Messi was influential in the game but Mikel was indeed masterful.
Yeah..The keeper was so good. I think him and Taye Taiwo saved the team a lots of time else the result would have been so disastrous. The rest were just running up and down
Yes, both were very good. As I was watching them in the pregame warmups, I was very impressed with Vanzekin who seemed to me, to be yhe youngest of the goalkeepers on that Nigerian squad. Oscar Ustari was w very brilliant young talent, and I believe he would have gone on to be recognized as one of Argentina's greatest GKs ever, had he not had his career plagued with injuries.
Which master class when he was awarded penalty in both halves of the match and Nigeria was not awarded any one. The same politics in many of his games. In 2022 World Cup Argentina was awarded penalty in almost every first half and Messi must play it. So his carrier to some extent is movie. He is now planning to go to Saudi Arabia league he and his supporters called Carmel League just to hunt CR 7. A challenge that made him and Barcelona FC to lobby almost all his career there.
Don't mind the guy, That's why the guy cut out the part where Nigeria scored as though they didn't possess the ball at all. A match that was that competitive and he is trying to push a false narrative as though he was the only one that possessed the all all through and nigeria wasn't able to play anything. Did you see that nigera goal, that was what real masterclass looked like. The guy is a blatant racist. I was watching this his stupid video until he cut out the part where nigeria scored, anyone watching this video would think it was 2 : 0 so @Raheem Comps, if no one has told you this before, i am telling you point blank, YOU ARE A RACIST.
Agreed. Messi DID put on a masterclass in this entire tournament, make no mistake about it, but so did John Obi-Mikel, who himself had put on a masterclass in this Final.
Ronaldo fans in the house be like, this under 20 worldcup was rigged for messi 🤡. Would you also call this rigged? Man as literally being doing his things even when nobody knows him, his talent is beyond human nature probably extra pro human.
They have nothing to say they have no excuses anymore that's why they try to discredit worlds best tournament by calling it rigged when they have no evidence
trying to push home a wrong narrative as if the match wasn't competitive at all is total bull shit and so you know a lot of people still believe that, while messi was fantastic, yet the referee was biased too
Good observation.. I wonder why no one is talking about that player. In ordinary local matches, good players are always cautious when harassing their opponents within the box let alone World Cup tournament
He actually played the ball, so I don't know what you're talking about. Messi merely sold the penalty to the referee and the referee decided to buy it.
Nigeria U20 , like Chelsea and Arsenal where robbed by referee decisions when playing against Messi. Why was the challenge that led to the second penalty by Messi and NigeriaU20s disallowed penalty cut out of the video
It was cut out because this is a video about Messi´s performance, and he wasn´t involved in the two actions you mention. Also, the two penalties for Argentina were clear fouls within the box, therefore two cristal clear penalties. Learn football.
@@rhemamusic6502 "why don't you show it" you should ask the guy who uploaded the video, not me 😂😂😂. But apart from that, it is logical that in a video (and in a RU-vid channel) dedicated only to Messi performances they don't show an action in which Leo was not involved. If you want to watch the full match or the full highlights you can use the RU-vid browser, I'm sure u won't be disappointed!
This video is worthless because, only where Argentina scored that was showed and where Nigeria scored was not. This video didn't show full story of the match
@@dynamictech7229 You are not lying at all. I was at this game and to this day it still haunts me. I am glad to be reading through all of these comments to see that all of my protestations about this match over the years were not crazy and that others had seen the robbery job done to Nigeria besides me.
We met this Guy in a mechanic workshop and we were all making Jest of him that he couldn’t foul MEssi from the outside, He said he was hitting Leo from outside but Leo refused to fall that was why he kicked him angrily 😂
@@adetolaabdulhameed4716 I Dey tell you my brother. We use ham do Yeye that day no be small o. E openly told us that MEssi is not normal that he has never seen a football player that good in that age in all his life. Said e Dey kick ham from outside and if you watch it you go confirm ham say na true him talk.
Raheem, inasmuch as you are trying to showcase Messi, I still think there should be a measure of balance in your narrative. For anyone who did not watch the full match, you have given a completely false impression about the match itself all in the name of promoting Messi. Not taking anything away from Messi and Di Maria's extraordinary performance in this particular match, I still believe the Nigerian team was the better side. The Nigerian team was just a victim of nepotism in this particular match. This is a one-sided story from you. Deliberately so.
@@RaheemComps Then it will be fair not to indirectly berate other teams in the process of promoting Messi. This video is an affront to that Nigerian team. Especially, considering the controversies that surrounded that particular match.
@@tyronelorenzovalentio3414 I did not direct my comment to you. If @Raheem Comps insulted me I would have understood a little bit. But as for you, keep your mouth shut because I am not talking to you. You sounded as one of those immature teenagers privileged to have access to the internet. If you were untrained and disrespectful, do not respond to my post.
@@deboadetunji8476 What was controversial about? Nigeria lost and that's it. Is this why you hate Messi and say CR7 is better? You can't take away the genius display of Lionel Andre Messi, the god of football, even Mikel Obi who was a player in that is Messi die hard fan, you're crying over sth that didn't benefit you or your family 😀
