Yeah this is what sucks about all of this, they do genuinely have a good point and most tend to agree with their message but they're going about it the wrong way. There's also so many factors that go into stopping oil, their slogan is an oxymoron. It's not just stopping oil, it's complete system change, legislation, public use/dependance, alternatives, financial support from both the private and public sectors. What they're suggesting will take a long time as is (which does play into their argument - why they're doing it now) but a new compromise needs to be met from both sides so their message is actually heard and acted on. Why can't they have a space to vent their issues to the government in an open discussion on what needs to be done for the climate, as a proxy for us all? Surely that's less disruption than blocking emergency services on the road and all the police manpower and resources that could be better spent on more immediate issues - especially in London. Also lay off the old man.
