@@diannayau I think you've introduced these frameworks really well. So more mock interviews would be a perfect follow up! One question I had was if you get a generic, non company affiliated design question. I.E 'design a product for farms'. Should you skip the standard strategic part (company mission, goals, how it aligns ,etc) and go straight to user segmenting? I find it hard to do strategic thinking of such a vague problem without almost accidentally diving into segmentation lol

@@minmax8625 great question re: product sense, even if it's a generic question you still need to answer the "Why is this important?"

FB Mission is mentioned first in the list but where was it used as a guiding principle to make any decision or tradeoff? (unless I missed it completely).

Great video!! Thanks for bringing such informative stuff. One question though - Abhshek demonstrates a thorough understanding of FB shop, with its stats and user journey. How are we suppose to learn and remember this stuff for all products out there. If we do not have context as to what is the mission and function of the product then what should we do?

Ah! The question I got during my FB RPM interview for the 2022 round was related to product execution for IG Shops. I didn't get the position but really interested seeing how Abhishek answered for a similar product..

I think the Trade-offs section was a bit weak. @diannayau could you please provide any input on what real Meta interviewers look for in terms of their response for that question?

If I were the interviewer I would ask Abhishek to cross check his original goal after he zeroed in on goods bought and items sold in his metric definition. That means the goal should be transactions
@yuhanzhu75
@yuhanzhu75 29 дней назад
I agree, the intersect value of all stakeholders should be transaction. but Abhishek also mentioned that since the traffic from FB get redirected to external website so there is no way to track the actual transactions on the 3rd party. Do you think of better solution of that?

Hi Dianna, I notice the difference in the process to come up with the NS metric by the interviewee and your previous example videos. You will come up with the NS metric after analyzing the value of each user group and finding the metric that can measure the value of them all, however, the interviewee came up with the success metrics first and pick the NS metric from them. May I know which sequence do you recommend?
@diannayau
@diannayau 2 года назад
Either works! I like to start with the NS first becomes it helps me focus on the most important thing. But if you need some warming up by thinking through various metrics and then NS, that also works!

Dianna, great content as always! Was Abhishek stating that the metrics to track are the NSM + the metrics supporting the NSM + Counter metrics? It wasn't clear. He covered a lot of ground when he picked metrics in ALL AARM categories. Was that just to be comprehensive and zero in on the NSM, or was he implying that his dashboard would include every single metric he discussed? Coming up with metrics in all AARM categories could be time intensive, especially when you are thinking on your feet, about a product that you are not intimately familiar with. What are your thoughts?
@diannayau
@diannayau 2 года назад
Yes a good answer encompasses of all the metrics Abhishek mentioned. This process shouldn’t take more than 25 mins in an interview. First get good at identifying the right metrics, then optimize your timing

Hi Dianna, love your content Can you point me to any material on how to be a better interviewer? Most of the stuff online is about how to interview as a candidate, but I am in a situation where I would like to be a better interviewer. Also your thoughts on how to do better behavioral interviews to assess fit.

@coolwaterz
@coolwaterz Год назад
How do some interviewees have SO much firsthand knowledge of the product to flex on the spot. A lot of these videos come off as pre-rehearsed specifically due to that. He's been giving so much extensive background information about FB Shops that it's hard to believe he just happens to know this much about the experience, unless he studied the hell out of it for his FB interview loop. I have never bought a thing off FB shops nor do i know anyone who has. How can a candidate even remotely set themselves apart with little firsthand experience of a product they are being asked about in a case study- no one is an expert at every single product
@diannayau
@diannayau Год назад
That’s how people like Abhishek get offers…because they comb through every fb product before they come to the interviews and hence they come super prepared…
@coolwaterz
@coolwaterz Год назад
@@diannayau Thanks Diana- this is definitely beneficial in the specific Facebook PM interview loop, but many other companies now ask case studies and will ask these types of questions for any random product out there. What is lacking in some of these mock interviews is that real world scenario. A lot of the mocks are tailored to the respondents background and /or company's product they're interviewing for. But lets re-ask this question to Abishek and have him improvise for Etsy or a product he didnt study for months. Outside of Meta interviews, thats a far more likely scenario.
@finallyonutube
@finallyonutube Год назад
@@coolwaterz I agree with your assessment. He seems to know a LOT about FB shops/E-commerce area; I think that's his background. You can see there's no downtime being taken even for thinking thru, it definitely appears well-rehearsed. I am not complaining since as a viewer I get good content but it doesn't mirror the reality.
@Travelmumoftwo
@Travelmumoftwo Год назад
@@finallyonutube I completely echo with above statement. I understand the whole framework for getting to the NS and the metrics, but if one doesn't have inkling on what the product is and what their company's mission is, how do we move forward? One cannot know about all the products in the big firms. Would it be prudent to ask the interviewer about the product and the company's overall objective? Would that ruin your chances of going further?
@SeongkuanWang

Hey, the goal of this video is to showcase what a stellar performance looks like so you can emulate yourself and perform at this level. Sure, there will be cases where you don't know the product sufficiently enough to answer in such great details, but that's why you need to ask the interviewer more clarifying questions in the beginning. Overall, the general framework and thought process are here for you to follow and master. @coolwaterz
