The “Soft start” is to reduce kickback in start up, but more importantly is how fast it stopped! It’s equipped with an automatic braking feature which stops the blade rotation as soon as you release the trigger.

I love my metabo tools. It’s a damned shame that more people don’t know about them.

On the topic about the slow start up, I read on their website that its a "SAFETY FEATURE" - also fitted with further safety features such as soft start to reduce kick back on start-up

Oh! The location of the ejection port is higher up to facilitate a vacuum connection. However, it’s an optional part in the manual. IDK why it’s not just included. It’s a small plastic part. With all the great features included why not just put it on? I got mine by the way at Menard’s on clearance for $55 tool only. I wish they were still offering the 36v multivolt for free with a rebate. Those are about $130 by themselves. 😮

This 6 1/2 with the 8.0 multivolt battery holy smokes. End of the day 3 bars left used it to demo an apartment deck and rebuild, (cutting 4x8pt, 2x12 pt, 2x6 pt, 2x6 rdwd, while demoing out and breaking down old deck boards while still on joists) honestly amazed.

Most definitely felt the difference too 👌🏽

@cheveresalvi still want the 7 1/4 rear handle but that 6 1/2 is smooth once you figure out how much you can push it

Hi, great review! This style of saw is very popular in Japan. They come in 3 or 4 sizes. Makita has an identical line of these, with the 2 speeds, soft start, double slot rip guide, double bevel adust, reverse bevel to 5°, 7°, or 15°, shiny mirror aluminum plate, and so on. I have the 36v version of this(C3606DA), and use it for indoor jobs like flooring, cutting hardwoods, etc. This 18v version seems to be the only one released in the US from Hitachi/Metabo hpt. Makita hasn't released any of them in the US. All of them have a "deep cut" design. Both brands have the full line in 18v or 36/40v. They both come in an all black version. They generally come in sizes of 125mm(4.9"), 147mm(5.75"), and 165mm(6.5"). Kyocera and Panasonic also have a line of these saws in Japan, and they also have all the above mentioned nearly identical features. There's also some sort of track system that bolts to the bottom of the plate/shoe that I've heard of, but have never seen. Makita 40v: 125mm- HS005GZ 165mm- HS001GZ Makita 18v: 125mm- HS474DZ 165mm- HS610DZ or HS631DZ There's a bunch more models with different dust collection systems attached to the saw, but if you're interested in a Makita version of that Metabo, those are the main ones.

"The Silent Mode improves motor efficiency, while lowering the noise. The operation mode automatically switches to the Power Mode when the motor load increases, enabling smooth cutting according to cutting conditions."

Great saw Use it in multiple applications and have one set up for a track saw

Instead of being labeled as silent mode, it should simply be labeled as a 2 speed selector. If you can not think of a single use for the option of operating at reduced rpm, you probably do not have any experience cutting different materials.

The Deep Cut is a great saw for many tasks. It will indeed cut better with a Diablo or other quality blade. The Deep Cut is not as beefy as the HPT 36v sidewinder, but the 6.5" saw can do a lot of work and it's easy and light to handle.

good vids today i love me some green, I like my 7 1/4 36v and my 18v 6.5 metabo hpt circ saws both for different reasons the 36v tools r beasts def skip the 18v grinder for example and go str8 to the 36v on the tools if you want corded like portable power

Question on the "Free Battery with the purchase of a Multivolt Cordless Onlin program", from my understating is you fillout the form online and they'll send you a 4/8ah Battery. Now youre saying that you need to purchase the battery and submit for rebate? I think something is not adding up here
@UltimateToolReviews

It just ended today, but you needed to buy a qualifying tool and fill out the form for them to send you the battery. I got 3 out of 6 so far.

@@UltimateToolReviews Yes that's what i thought. I submitted 7 rebates about 4 weeks ago and I have yet to receive any battery.

2-4 times a year Metabo HPT has crazy sales at Lowes, keep an eye out, they are not hard to score since they don't sell that well. I've been able to get better deals on Metabo than brands like Ryobi and Craftsmans.

can attest, this is y favorite saw. Have many saws, but this one is my favorite, second to the tracksaw, then the metabo HPT 36 rear handle saw. have the fuel saws, which I like but ergonomically dislike

You must not work on inside jobsites Many have a decimal limit so the silent mode can allow for indoor cutting in those settings

The Matebo would be better for left handed users.

I bought a Diablo blade for mine and don't notice any difference in it and the stock blade that came with it, which is a very good quality blade.
