I own this drill, the stubbier drill driver BS 18 LTX3 and the impact driver. I also use Makita drills and the little Mafell 10v. These Metabo drill are things of absolute beauty. In design and functionality. Every time I get the Metabo out I hear nothing but “it look loik a foighter jyet” in my head because of you! 😂 It’s true. It looks so cool.
Hey Vince great video, I have the drill driver version same specs but no hammer function and i love mine. The third speed is super fast in wood and the impulse function helps take out striped screws. The best way ive found to take the batteries out is hold the drill by the lower handle and press the button with your lower palm area and pull battery out. Also you can insert bits directly in the drive end without using the quarter inch hex drive it has a magnet inside to hold the bit. hope this helps
My employer and I just started running the Metabo drill LTX BL QI with the DN80 clamp to drill holes to fab pipe (sprinkler fitter) the tool is amazing!
That's the battery that has those grooves in it so the fan cooled charger moves air thru the battery while charging.....we saw that at the octoolberfest show at the metabo display...that drill looks like a beast 💪
Just picked one up..not the most powerful drill i have but if you do lots of tiling then its the only drill to own with impulse mode..not having to look for a carrier bit all the time is a massive bonus and without the chuck its quite compact, i got the 2 speed tapping version also..nothing else like it that i know of!
That daily at the bottom isn't a speed controller it's the electronic cluch. I have all the metabolism stuff and have done for a good few years and it's all really good and well built
Metabo also has other options for the quick chuck like a right angle and a high torque attachment which X3 you torque of that drill so that drill will give you 360NM of torque!
I'm still trying to calm down after your video! I cant. 😋 My wife doesnt get it. Love the channel. Have the Dewalt Dcd996 with Flexvolt battery and Milwaukee Gen3 with HO 6 battery go up against it in a 3 way battle royale. The Metabo King Tiger Tank against the Milwaukee and Dewalt T34 tanks! All the tv stations will have to break their normal programming to cover it. I just know it. Epic.
Love the video, REALLY glad to see the new German Metabo, and glad you like it Vince. They are truly a high quality machines. Please run the machine with your crew as hard as they can. I run the Mebabos in my business and they will take a real beating. I catch,. The tool will take a bit of getting used to do to the complexity of the tool. But after that your crew I think will love it. So run her tell she drops !!!!!! It will make you money.
Vince SUPER excited? Strap yourselves in for this one kids, Papa V is about give it the dinnah! Lol, Vince is going to fall asleep reading that manual and start reciting in German in his sleep. This will really impress Mrs. Tool lady at 2AM in the morning! Cool tool, great video! VCG Life, all day, every day!! Thanks for another hit guys!
I wish DeWalt had this quickly interchangeable chucks and bit holders. I love it so much on my Metabo, and I'd probably switch to DeWalt battery system because of their rotary hammer. But then I checked their drills, and found no quickly changeable chucks.
A head by head with the Mafell A18bl ( the Metabo 90 Nm version..equal torque- not the 110-120Nm versions) same chassis and specs ..., but the beast sounds different..so? Different motorisation?
I have the 3 speed metabo without hammer function, I'd prefer to have had that than the 3rd gear. I thought I'd use it for metal drilling but it's overkill. I love it for the 90 degree angle tool and tap head. Compared to my last Bosch I find Metabo's in hand balance superb too.
This is awesome Vince! Is Acme sending you these new tools? Great to see all these new tools on the channel!!!!!!! Great work as always Vince. This channel has grown so fast!
It has the same chuck, although not chuck mounting system as DCD996. Even the German word "zu" is there. I stick with DeWalt model because for my requirements price is the best and it is slightly more compact. Even though it is evident that 18 LTX-3 BL Q comes on top. BTW the way you measured height is a bit misleading because the motor housing is inclined WRT battery base. The best option would be to use height gauge on inspection granite table.
I had one of those 12v nicd a decade ago or more, very powerful good torque. Just slipped from my latter and hit the floor with the bit and the body cracked in two pieces. Anyway expensive tool especially here in Europe
WOW, with all this guys experience. He doesnt realise the controls at the bottom are the torque settings not speed settings (6:06). He can only think of drill bits to insert in to the alternate chuck which is mainly meant to be for driver bits (7:16) This is copied from the offical Metabo site under the description for this drill: 'Spindle with hexagonal recess for screwdriver bits for working without chuck' The whole idea of the removable chuck is to make it a viable alternative to having a seperate drill and driver. It reduces the time to switch between drilling and driving compared to conventional drill drivers. PS: (1:56) That is the smaller cheaper Metabo case. Usually you would get the stronger stackable case with the more expensive Metabo drills - kinda weird the top of the range would get the cheaper case.
"The whole idea of the removable chuck is to make it a viable alternative to having a seperate drill and driver. It reduces the time to switch between drilling and driving compared to conventional drill drivers." that was my question, thx mate
It's KKR that owns Hitachi Koki.Koki owns Metabo since I believe 2016.In Europe they call themselves Hikoki and in US Metabo HPT.But Metabo pruducts are different from those of Koki.
It did have a whole bunch of literature until you sent it full chuck across the lions den! I want to see it go up against Milwaukee's M18 fuel hammer drill with HO 6 on it because I don't know what else could keep up.
🔥 Metabo, Hitabo - Looks some stuff that fell out of a SPACE SHIP!!! Vince, give it to me straight man - how does it compare to Hilti? We used to use a lot of Bosch too but the quality isn't as good as Hilti anymore. Is Metabo a competitor in that Industrial Grade tool? We never see that brand up here and I am ALWAYS in the hunt for the most powerful tools. PS I owned my first Audi 5000 when I was 13 lol, it was given to me by an old friend of the family who past, I also scored a 61" projection TV and why that is cool is because 1 - that was hype for back then and 2 - The casing was all solid OAK man! Great Vid You guys are the greatest hottest tool channel on the entire YT! 🔥
Man metabo sure isn’t going with the smaller is better like most companies these days... that thing is a monster. Not sure about that changeable chuck doesn’t scream quality to me
all those "drills" that you have in your workshop just throw in the trash bin this Metabo drill is the true tool that you need sorry that everyone need
Why do you Red fan boys think everything has to “earn” a shot at your junk Gender 3????? Let the Metabo beat the tar out of the gender 3 like I did with the 996. Then let it go against the REAL HAMMER DRILL champ. The DeWalt!!!! Don’t disrespect the champ!!! Get in line red china!!!! The BACK of the line!!!!
Renman that's fair to put it up against the DeWalt drill. But this is also a impact driver so you have to include your smoky sorry DeWalt impact driver that red China annihilated to make it fair.
Aaron Repper if you recall the 887 was winning till it went to paddles and lags. Which I would use a HAMMER gun for. So spin it how you want. The 996 will eat it for lunch.

This is a terrible review. For one the audio is terrible, half of what you say is too quiet to hear, and then when you get excited it's way too loud. You didn't adequately explain the unique features of the drill, or give any context to the specs. 3800 rpm is extremely fast as you state, but you never give the context that compatible drills are usually about 2000rpm. What exactly does the speed control wheel do? How is it different from a conventional clutch setting on other drills? You don't explain any of it. Your detailed measurements are worthless without context. Anyone can look up the weight and dimensions of the drill online. You should compare it side by side with comparable drills like a DeWalt or Milwaukee. You didn't mention that Metabo offers a compact drill. If someone is watching this video they are probably considering buying a Metabo drill and would like to know the pros and cons to the bigger drill and the smaller one.
Should be correctly titled as an unboxing video, then everyone would know in advance that this is utterly pointless viewing. Why do people even make videos like this? The way he is talking about the tool makes it pretty clear that the guy knows nothing worth listening to.
ad too long, so i didnt watch this video. and just want to say. it is so ugly and far inferior looking than dewalt or Milwaukee. why would anyone buy this?
