I've never studied chemistry or biology.. that was just amazing. I now know why I breath, why i breath out CO2, why my body requires glucose, what it does with it and why and how the body regulates our blood sugar levels.. just amazing! 50mins of my life well spent!

Thank you professor. I watched this lecture while doing some aerobic sprints (4 minutes jogging, 30 seconds sprinting, repeat 4 to 6 times) as I've heard this is one of the most effective ways to normalize glucose and combat diabetes. Your lesson that oxygen is needed to accept the hydrogen atoms from glucose to create ATP for cellular energy was a great reminder of why we need regular aerobic exercise.

Outdated information as Ketosis is a more effective system.
@professorfink
@professorfink 5 лет назад
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "Ketosis is a more effective system". There is substantial clinical evidence for the benefits of a ketogenic diet. There are also some concerns for long-term adverse effects, including break-down of muscle tissue. The best approach is "moderation".
@nxenxx
@nxenxx 3 года назад
@@professorfink the reason why such an educated person like you has to take statins is probably the reason why the SAD has failed us and does not promote moderation. Ketogenic diet has more than simple benefits, life-changing even and can reverse diseases long considered as terminal and irreversible. I want to leave this comment on a good note as I have learned a lot from your lectures and I want to thank you for the content. I just want to express my disappointment on the lethal nutritional guidelines of the medical community to our lives.

The other way a child can grow taller (while malnourished) is to become skinnier. and this can be observed in populations that are exposed to cheap western food with too many refined carbohydrates. The adults are fat, the children are thin. Both, it could be argued, are malnourished. Interesting that Taubes uses the analogy of growth for obesity (just like Fink) but Taubes is dismissed as a quack who has no idea what he is talking about.
