2:41 That little hitch in that riff is FUCKING RIGHTEOUS! This is how it's done, metal kiddies. Take your new/nu/noo metal and shove it, this is the SHIT!
UNDERRATED BAND :( metal church deserves better, they have to be playing on the biggest places.. I never understood why they never made it big... bad luck? bad managers?
They cane from nowhere...the band's early success was due to the songwriting, charisma, and voice of original vocalist David Wayne .He left or was booted from the band, and after an early stretch of success, they weren't able to sustain it as long as Queensryche did. Songwriting, styles, all that shit comes and goes.. you literally have to fall from the sky, kand in the perfect place, and have a bit luck thats not luck at all. If tiu sell your soul the money always runs long before the deal you made ends m. When your sell time soul its a temporary solution to an eternal problem.
I live in Seattle. Metal Church and Queensryche both came from local metal scenes in different cities and were self supporting from the beginning. In 1983 Queensryche, with the help of a local record shop owner, produced an EP which created lots of local interest that gradually spread nationwide and then internationally. Metal Church was like the blue collar metal band while Queensryche's talent and ambitions were far beyond the scope of the metal industry . Metal Church, more raw, more meat and potatoes..but both had a dark, new, edgy feel to them. Much like a young Guns and Roses did.Once you achieve stardom the passion, the desire, and the energy fade...you get tired of everything and the things that pushed you through to stardom are now working against you...and you want it all to go away ..but the Devil owns you for life and now out write shit music. Nobody likes anymore. So you commit suicide to escape this world but the.Devil.. He still owns you in this life and beyond...rock and roll is good, but at the same time it's shit, it's a curse you can't escape from..believe me
simple their best singer wayne died, mike great singer decided he didn't wanna do it then they had this guy with no stage presence take over , but mikes back now and its night and day from this to now
WOW...….Metal Church is beyond all doubt one of the most underated heavy metal acts to ever come out period. They are a PURE POWERHOUSE & I love hearing them & they can hang in there with ANY of the best of em……. PERIOD . !!!!!!!!!!!!
I have worn out the first two "David Wayne releases" of that gorgeous outfit (;-)). They were brilliant. Meanwhile everybody from the original line up has been replaced except Kurd Vanderhoof (the bold guy). But they all do good jobs. It's a very convincing version of this anthem and the singer (.... Munroe) is great! And yes...now Mike How is back...dunno why...this guy here sounds great...no need to replace him. Hail to the glorious metal churchers...one of my mideighties heroes....by the wayTHEY WERE ALWAYS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN METALLICA who's juices ran dry 15 years ago.
huk38 , yes sir! Everything you say is "spot on". Even the part about Metallica! I'm 52 an watched Metallica go south. A long time ago. And like you, MC was definitely my favorite metal band in the mid 80,s. And still today. Much respect!
When my children ask me what Heavy Metal is the first thing I am going to do is put this video on them, Ronnie Munroe great speaker Metal Church FOREVER !!!!!
I'm 42 and always with METAL in my veins since I was 13 years old, Thanks for my first cassettes from Mercyfull Fate (Melissa) and Metal Church (Metal Church). And big hugs to all Heavy, Doom, Death-Metalheads on that all planet.
Yeah I know what you mean. I don't really like it actually. They only do it in the 2nd verse for some reason. I think its better when they keep peddling the E note.
Is that Kirk Arrington on drums? I'm thinking it is. Sounds like him. The ORIGINAL drummer from the first 3 releases. Metal Church 1984, The Dark 1986 and Blessing in Disguise 1988. And now in 2014 it appears to me that Kurdt Vanderhoof let him back into the band. Can anybody clarify? Because I thought that Kirk was long gone. Along with Craig Wells and the original bass player. But it appears that Kirk Arrington is back. For this gig anyways.
I saw these guys in the 80s in salt lake in a small venue under the under pass at 5th east can't remember the club you could take booze in and they would keep it cold for you the bands would come and have a drink with you the line up was metal church violent play ground I stood 5 ft from these k guys they were the original band so cool
+Bmxicano2 Yes, this was at TREES. Hopefully they'll be back again. They just released a new CD last Friday with former singer Mike Howe. You may remember the song he sang called "FAKE HEALER." Mike is back with the band!
Are ANY of these guys part of the original lineup? My favorite Metal Church albums are and will probably always be the first two. D.Wayne was great, may he rip. Just curious who is left from the original lineup.
It's Kurdt's band. He decides who is in the band and who ain't. At all times. But the original line up was the legendary one. They WERE epic. But the new line-ups hold their own too. Imo.
When it comes to an album being classified OVERALL best to hit god's green earth, Factors come into play.. and that is to grab you by the FK'n throat evenly all the way through for eternity & to never let go,, Granting you God Giveth sound none other can match!!.. i give u metal church metal church !!
