Just double checked to be sure and yeah, Mike Howe co-wrote Badlands. Metal Church, particularly Badlands got me through that stay in the hospital. Ironically so did Suicidal Tendencies, How Will I Laugh Tomorrow... is a criminally under-rated album.

His wife didn't care much, he put his career on hold for years to follow her around country, supporting her with her career!! Don't think she was happy him rejoining Metal Church in 2015, she just walked out on him and they consequently divorced, that definitely didn't help him😔 He was a lovely man, so devastating he is no longer here. Rest in Peace Mike🙏🙏 I pray that I won't carry all the pain to the end , which sadly he did🙏🙏😔😔❤️❤️❤️

I'm very sorry and isn't it terrible that people can't get the help they need when they need it? This is yet another sad occurrence and I'm sorry for his family friends bandmates and of course for him rest in peace Mike thanks for the music and may God comfort your family friends loved ones fans and the members of your band thanks for the music

Me too, and im irritated because Ive been planning on uploading a video of me & Friends singing Badlands by Metal Church, back in 1991 But i wanted to do my Laaz Rokit video first Then upload that. odd timing I guess it could be a tribute BUT also i don't want people thinking i Uploaded because what happaned, ive been planning on it for the last 3 months.

@@cris4620 It sounds like he was the victim of an over prescribing quack of a doctor. Lots of people have been driven crazy by being over prescribed and or prescribed the wrong drug. I think god will see the circumstances.

It takes a strong person to do suicide. People always say it's a cowards way out but it takes balls to kill yourself not knowing what will greet you on the other side. I tried it once with a belt. It broke though and I never attempted it again, long ago. Somehow a thick leather belt with double closers snapped and I fell to the ground I figured it was a sign. I have a new belt now. The silver lining I guess.

@@annetteslife Yes, we know this. However, it's not clear what he was suffering from, apparently it's something to do with medication but it could still be unrelated to mental issues.

My grandparents where neighbors with his parents . I'm 9 years younger than him , but , when I lived there for a time I remember him always being kind to us younger punks . R.I.P. Mike , you will be missed as a good person as well as a great frontman

Very cool stories guys! I always loved Mike in Heretic, but even better in Metal Church. It saddens me that I never got to see him perform live. Saw Metal Church circa 2005-2006 with Ronnie Monroe on vocals. I’m such a huge fan of Metal Church that part of me didn’t want to go without Mike on vocals, but I went for Kurt. RIP Mike Howe and David Wayne. Did you guys get into David Wayne’s band Reverend?

@@Tracy-Lee-Staton I saw what I believe was his last show in Heretic. At the Waters Club in San Pedro, Ca. A couple of the Metal Church guys were there. We found out why a few days later.

Sadly some times you don't even realize that your suffering from depression. It can be a very sneaky condition. Mild depression can manifest itself in ways that you don't consider. If not recognized it can expand and totally overtake someone.

G_Man21 You are wrong sir. I am suffering from chronic depression. Trust me when I say that depression does reveal itself early on. It's PEOPLE who are deaf and blind to the facts and prefer to look the other way. It's PEOPLE who are to blame for losing men like Mike.

@@user-ll6xz9gg7m not everyone suffers the same way. I've had for over 30 years but didn't realize it till 15 years ago. I have based my statement from my experience. I am sorry that you have been dealing with your demon for a long time, but again everyone deals with it differently.

As someone who has used various antidepressants in the past, it's a bit idiotic for the band to blame them for his suicide, unless they have conclusive information. This of course doesn't preclude someone from abusing or misusing them by mixing them with alcohol or other contraindicated drugs. His suicide and antidepressants probably have a more likely cause in common, depression. Antidepressants can help mitigate the effects of depression, but they're not a cure all. Not all antidepressants are a good fit and it can take a lot of trial and error to figure one that works effectively. Myself, I've been off of them for sometime, and am going to experiment with dabbing as an alternative (so I'm not some stooge for pharmaceuticals, but neither am I some Gwyneth Paltrow/David Avocado Goop style anti-science alarmist).

Absolutely , and the first thing we have to do is take attorneys out of the equation one reason we no longer have mental institutions is because attorneys would sue somebody every time you try to commit someone that actually needs it.

@@ritchp1 that's not why we don't have as many institutions, but a certain President wanted to cut public health spending to help pay for his rich donors tax cuts. Even still, a lot of those institutions needed to be reformed but not closed down completely.
