Nice blue stone in that little ring. Those are always fun to see come out of the ground. Great relics and coins, but that Rosary ring is beeee-utiful! 👍
Thanks so much and that really was a cool find. I was thrilled to have actually found a non-dug example out there to show everyone. Appreciate you watching! ATB Greg
Me too! That was such a neat find and I always love finding something I have never found before. I have another fun one for this morning and Chris is along for the ride this time too. ATB Greg
I love that piece toa Andrea and it is an outstanding site! So much more to come and a new video full of awesome things coming out this morning. I appreciate you watching this one! Take care and ATB Greg
As always, I enjoyed your video, Greg. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. I especially liked your Knights of Columbus rosary decade ring pendant.
That's definitely impressive Dan! Congrats on finding those. So glad you enjoy the channel and glad I have been able to help you with your detecting! ATB Greg
I put those spring spacers in a 58 Olds I had. Install them with a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Wow nice bunch of wheaties. Those great seal buttons are beautiful. What a strange belt buckle but cool find. That cuff button almost cleaned up perfectly. I was a member of the KofC & that is a very nice medallion. Each one of those nubs symbolizes a prayer that took the place of the Rosary beads. Interesting story about the Maxwell House coffee. I always enjoy the ending photos.
Thanks for sharing this big Fun and educational display of,A grown man playing with dirt 🎉😂!!! Should create lots of cool finds, and some very mysterious puzzles. ..🇺🇸🕊️
What a great bit of Diggin!!!! I'm thinking the mystery finds could be wheels from a toy( just a stab in the dark). That Knights of Columbus rosary is sweet.
Awesome finds Greg! These past few weeks i haven't been able to go metal detecting. 1st my German Shepherd, Laya passed away, she was 13 years old. Then I got some kind of stomach virus and now I've got one of the worst toothaches I've ever had. Plus delivering packages 6 days a week. It's been a rough 3 weeks. I am hoping to get detecting this Sunday weather permitting.
Ugh. I'm with you on losing your best friend buddy. My German shepherd, Dixie, passed in September at 12 1/2 years old. Out of all my dogs, I took losing her the hardest! 😣
Thanks and I am so sorry to hear about your Shepherd. I have quite a few rescues myself and I lost two of my Labs last Christmas just two weeks apart. I lost three of my cats that year as well. I know just how devastating it is as I have been through it so many times. It is always heart wrenching but I always take solace knowing that I gave them a great home and lots of love all through their lives. You've had a tough November but I know things will get better. I hope you got out to do some detecting and that you found something amazing! I appreciate you watching this one! Take care and ATB Greg
Thanks William and I appreciate you watching this one! I love finding the relics and I have another one coming out this morning that's full of more neat finds from this location! Take care and ATB Greg
I enjoy all your videos and those pictures at the end of each video are a sweet bonus. THANKS for your honesty and your effort that go into making your videos a blessing for us. MUCH APPRECIATED.
Very cool that we each found one this week! I think that's only the second one of those with that early back mark that I have found. I appreciate you watching this one! Take care and ATB Greg
Greg, I really believe the mystery items are weights that go inside the bottoms of a curtain to hold them down straight . This was a very good episode. Just loved it. Thanks Greg for sharing.
Thanks for the help with that Phillip and I appreciate you watching this one! Really glad you enjoyed it. Another fun one coming out this morning too! Take care and ATB Greg
Greg, I am new to metal detecting. You mentioned using apple cider vinegar to clean a couple of things. Can you do a video about how and what to use for different types of metal? I don't want to ruin the things I find. Love watching your videos.
Replying on behalf of Greg here. He's posted this a few times recently... Here is how I clean some of my finds for the episodes. Apple cider vinegar is excellent for many brass and copper relics and for rusty pieces as well. I use it on pieces that do not have much historical value or pieces that don't have an original patina that I want to keep. Brooches, metal dog tags, some buttons, etc all respond well. I use the vinegar straight and just submerge the pieces in it. I pull them out at short intervals to check their progress. It's really amazing how quickly many of the things respond to the vinegar. Many brooches just take a few minutes! After I have it where I want it following the apple cider vinegar, I can then clean them lightly with a piece of #0000 steel wool that is wet and soaked with dish liquid soap if needed. I never use apple cider vinegar with coins. I usually only dry toothpick or use the Andre Pencils or English Composite Cleaning pencils on most old military buttons. Leaving the dirt in the crevices of the old buttons helps to make the button's high relief designs pop and display better. Most military buttons are dry clean only! I often clean the iron backed overall and denim buttons with a piece of wet #0000 steel wool soaked with dish liquid soap. Often, I will soak them for a little while in apple cider vinegar as well and then go over them with the steel wool. If an IHP or early wheat is not crusty. I will just dry clean them to try and preserve the patina using the Composite Cleaning Pencils from England and the Andre pencil set. I use the hard pencil to gently scrape any dirt from it. I then use the steel wool pencil and slowly remove the dirt and grime. I clean it with a dry, soft towel in between cleanings to see my progress. Once I have the coin where I want it, I will then use a tiny bit of paraffin wax and rub it into the coin which will give it a great luster. I do have a certain way of cleaning the IHP's and some early wheaties. Here is what I do for them when they have a stubborn coating on them. I use a small glass bowl and fill it with hydrogen peroxide. I then put it in the microwave until it is boiling. (40 seconds or so) Then I take the IHP and put it in. Whichever side you want to work on should be the side that is facing up. Give it about 10 seconds at a time and then remove it. Never leave them in it too long. I use a small fork and just push it up the side of the bowl until I can get my fingers on it. Be careful, the coin is going to be hot for a few seconds. I then rub it vigorously with my thumb or a cloth and a lot of times that is usually sufficient. If it has a lot of crust, I use the Andre Pencil set to scrape at the crust gently. You may have to repeat this a few times until you have it where you want it. Get the peroxide boiling each time. I do about 10 seconds each time. I also use the steel wool pencil that comes with the Andre Pencil Set a lot to get them perfect. Once I have the penny where I want it, I take a bit of paraffin wax and rub it into the coin to give it a deep luster. (Here's the disclaimer LOL) With all that said, do not clean any coin that has substantial numismatic value. For nickels and aluminum tokens, (this is only for ones that have no numismatic or collector value) that you just want to look nice and display well you can use wet 0000 steel wool and some dish liquid soap on them. If a piece has any historical or monetary value or possesses a nice patina, keep the cleaning to a bare minimum. If it's a piece like an old brooch or a similar item that doesn't have any desirable original patina or historical value and you just want it to display nicely then feel free to clean it. Hope that helps some. ATB Greg
I don't know if collectors ever give tours of their finds, but I'm having a difficult time imagining how you store all the finds you've dug up in your lifetime..uff da!---I think you've had rain recently? I'm looking forward to you having easier hunts!
Greg i belive you are right about the mystery finds being the base to the old toy signs, when i looked up vintage toy metal road and railroad signs theres tons of them with that exact base, so im saying they are toy sign bases, oh and tell Chris hello for me, we miss seeing him detecting with you
Thanks for the help with that Rob and I appreciate you watching this one! Chris is out with me in the new video coming out this morning! Take care and ATB Greg
Greg, that was an awesome hunt. I've been using CLR for a while now to remove the green cancer from coins and artifacts. I use a brush after a short soak in CLR. Works great at stopping and removing the cancer. It even makes taco money spendable again after being in a salt environment. Just soak, brush, rinse and then clean as normal.
Greg I think the mystery items might be either type writer or cash register buttons. I didn't read all the comments so I don't know if someone else thought of this. Great hunt!!
Great hunt Greg, looks like you need a maul to pound your digger in the ground, maybe a jack hammer would help. You've got some more to hunt on this permission, huh, if so can't wait. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, chow down!
Thanks Eric and I have seriously thought of bringing along a hammer and chisel. LOL I have much more to search at this spot and Chris and I got on it again and found enough for two more videos. Still so much more area to search and signals still left to be found. We got some rain too! First in 3 months! New video this morning 8AM ATB GReg
Ive detected the original owners of the Maxwell house homesite, was a civ.war camp site, got all kinds of stuff, episcopal church took it over now, wont let anyone near it
That is really awesome and what a shame they have stopped people from going on there now. It happens when properties change hands. Really appreciate you watching this one and all the way to the end as well! :) ATB Greg
My husband says that lead soldier stepped on a land mine and got blown up, which is why you only found his boots. Okay, my husband is a retired Marine, and a Vietnam vet. He ‘goes there’.
Seems you were just finding Wheaties buttons and compacts at least you make your show interesting love that you came up with mystery of the week I watch most of the other shows we have a Canadian here R-dogg treasure hunter I like hooked boys I watch quarter hoarder, dig that beep, etc, etc, yours is structured the best could easily be on cable t.v you come off sincere you're truly amazed with what you find it was amazing how you found four 1945 Wheaties in the same area like somebody had a roll of pennies fresh from the bank on them and was trying to open it and it exploded not being able to find every penny id be neat if you could find an object and use it to go back in time to when it was lost
Thanks Darren and I'm glad you enjoy my episodes. The rosary ring at the end was definitely a very cool find. One that I had never found before. I appreciate you watching this one! Take care and ATB Greg
I thought of that as well but I'm really not sure if they are or not. Thanks for your help with this one Dwight and I really appreciate you watching! ATB Greg
The religeouse artifact is catholic when they pray its like having a compact rosary i am lutheran but know a little about catholisism. Your item usually Attached to a key ring or necklace and you could pray the rosary anywhere . The little round balls on it symbolyzed rosary beads. You could pray the rosary anywhere.
