On this hunt I try out a new river site. The ford wasn't productive, but at the bridge I found a cool handgun.

At 4:55 the bullet is from a Lee Metford bolt action rifle so from about the mid to late 1880s maybe early 1890s. Good vid and some great finds!

The cartridge is a rimmed case & probably a 30-40 Krag, a common hunting round. The H&R pistol was not used in either WW1 or WW2 - there wasn't one long continous war.

And at 6:28 the right hand rifle cartage is a British .303 round (used in Lee Enfield series) which could be from 1880s-1960s.

Hey Beau, Michael Mosley here(formerly micmoable on youtube) I ordered a new Tesoro Sand Shark last night from Clevenger's and the reason I ordered a PI detector is that I plan on doing mostly saltwater detecting and PI's are real good in salt water conditions. I still may get a AT PRO later on to use for fresh water and land hunting. But I figured a PI would be better for salt water searching--have to dig more junk but you can find a few godies in amongst the junk targets/pPI's are real good.

I was swimming in my creek with a buddy down by a bridge and stumbled across a smith and wesson 38 caliber revolver. That was possibly a murder weapon. Your revolver is a h&r .32 cal blank firing pistol, like the ones used to start races. It was made in the late 80s early 90s. Worth about 50$

That cartridge looks like a .30-40 Krag round , .30 US Army, ca. 1899. That was the ammo we used in the Span-Am War and Philipine Insurrection. Rounded nose fits, Spitzer bullets become common afterwards. Good find! Too bad there wasn't a Morgan dollar laying next to it. : D

AquaChigger I think that bullet is from a 7mm Karabine(I'm from Bosnia we call it Karabine ) but check the area for hunting regulation ,see if it's for shotgun(sachmara) or Karabine(rifle)

Jonny Williams people used to toss weapons in the river just because they didn't want them anymore and didn't know what else to do with them. I dove a pond on a property when I was a young man to retrieve several handguns tossed in the pond by my friends grandmother. Her husband passed away and she didn't want them in the home. I did recover every single one of them using a 20 ounce magnet off of a speaker and diving on the bottom in 8 foot of water lucky the bottom had only a couple inches of silt on a hard packed clay. she tossed them in 1951 I recovered them in 1993 was 2 Iver Johnson 32 cal. and an 8 shot 22 Octagon barreled pocket pistol. I know of several folks who tossed weapons in the river because they didn't want the hassle of trying to sell them and didn't want to just give them to the police.

Hey Beau, in case youre wondering... Thats an H&R model 732. Chambered in (most likely) 32 Long. They were common guns back in the day because they were much cheaper than S&Ws or Colts, and they were built pretty solidly. (sort of like the Ruger of 50+ years ago). The 732 is a later model. It was most likely made in the 60s or 70's. Ive noticed everyone always assumes: "murder weapon dumped in river after a hit, you could solve a case! Turn that into the authorities and overnight they can solve a cold case and catch an assassin"... Which is BS. Ive taken forensics classes and the vast majority of the crap you see in CSI, Bones and other shows is totally impossible in real life. You might get a serial number (prob not because its so rusted) but any possible ballistic evidence was deleted because of the rust. And it wouldnt matter anyway because unless the gun was registered to begin with (unlikely given age, and most places you dont have too even with modern guns). The cops would have nothing to compare it to unless theyre specifically looking for that exact gun. Its more than likely that it was in someones canoe or on their person and it fell into the river on accident. Its happened before. Sorry for the long comment, but there are a lot of ignorant comments on your gun find videos ;) Thanks!
@sergeantbigmac
@sergeantbigmac 9 лет назад
***** Yep, I agree that that scenario is many times more likely... Its not a practice I necessarily agree with, but I know its something that happens. My high school buddies and I used to go up into the mountains to an old logging flat to go shooting. I thought nothing of it at the time but I feel bad now about the probably dozens and dozens of shotgun shells and targets we left up there... Not saying its impossible that its a murder weapon, but the fact that thats the first thing everyone jumps to is annoying. Its like every other coment on your gun find videos is "turn that into the authorities! They could solve a 40 year old cold case!" Ignoring how stupid that is for a second...The fact is, a lot of people carry a gun when theyre in the woods, and its easy to drop something like that when youre camping/hiking/in the river.

you have there a H&r model 732 chambered in either 32s&w or 32s&w long, that particular model was made from 1957 until 1986 when the company went out of buisness. They aren't particularly valuble but they do make a fine murder weapon at about 185 current market :). Hope this helps.

That cartridge is not a .303 British or Metford or anything like that. It is a caliber .30-40 USA or .30-40 Krag for the M1898 "Krag" rifle. Government loading was a 220 grain round nosed bullet. .303 Brit has a rounded shoulder, that one you found is angled like the Krag round.

3:40 LOL H&R. Even it is was in Mint condition. It belongs back in the river. The dam thing fires maybe 100 rounds before the dam wheel misaligned and it blows up in your hand. The metal used was Very soft and rusted easily too. God Ive came across probably 400 of them in my life and only 9 or 10 were worth keeping. They sold for $10 New what do you want? Yunno.
