Will be getting a couple of whites. My son and I go through quite a lot of small shovels just from our local hardware . They don't work out too well........ just went to three online stores all sold out
Whites closed their business this year but Garrett made an announcement that they purchased Whites. 🤞 that Garrett will continue making these diggers 🤞. Garrett Metal detectors customers service centre may know if they will continue this line.
I use the White’s hand digger also and just love it! It’s the only digger that doesn’t hurt my hand and it really slices through those roots as you said. Thank you for the great review. 👍🏻
Hang onto that thing as long as you can, and use it gently.. Apparently White's was bought out by Garrett and now everywhere is out of stock of the White's and Garrett just dumped the designs into some locked cabinet somewhere... ya know what they say... Can't beat em, Buy em.
Thanks for the great review video. I bought the White’s digger because of your great review. Thank You, love all the reviews , as a newbie it has really helped.Jerry
I really like the predator tools, I just recently purchased the ultra eagle @ 85 bucks, for use in yard permissions where neatness counts, it has a 4-1/2"wX7-7/8"L blade total length is 37-1/2" perfect for those yard permissions. and Then I Use the Predator Baracuda @ 90 bucks with 5"X9" blade length and has a wider step set up for foot pad use, Overall length is 38" both are T handle. The Baracuda is very light like your Piranha and blade shape is the same, perfect for digging in fields or woods. Thanks for the comparision video.
Good Job, my whites shovel is a bit bent just up from the blade. I also bent my large letch but not much. My cedar river shovel is tough as nails, but a tad heavy. It also holds mud in it more once your done with a plug, but great for tough fields. Thanks for the info, I dont use a hand digger, just more belt weight I don't need. But now I know what to get if I ever change things up. Tc and Happy Hunting
Unfortunately Whites closed their doors and from what I understand they no longer make them. It’s terrible, we’re a little stressed about ever loosing one of ours. Unsure what our options would be on the market today. It was the double sided serrated blade that really made a difference. We’ll have to research and test what they have out there today ☺️👍
Great review. It actually pushed me from a choice between the Leshe and the Garret and gave me the third option which I ultimately went with! Thank you for your no-nonsense approach and good advice.
dovets right on! Soo happy it helped you make a good decision. Not that the others are bad..but I believe the White's digger to have some obvious advantages which can be hard to differentiate unless you've used them all and have them side by side. Thanks for commenting, we appreciate the support. HH Eric
Good review, when you see them all side by side you can really see the differences. I don’t think I even used a hand digger since I bought my T-handle.
My DIY trowel is made of 10 gauge steel. That's about 1/8" thickness. So many makers use thin metal and heat treat it. What happens is....the blade becomes brittle and eventually cracks. I go with heavier metal to compensate the tempered thinner metals.
Nice review! I was about to buy a smaller hand digger.. I can see whyt you like the whites, the comfort handle alone sold it for me. And the serrations are better too. So my choice is the same.. thank you for saving me from the discomfort of the harder plasticky handles !
What no "Wicked Digger"? Lol! Great review Eric, I can see how the White's is well designed. I own the Lesche and the cheap Wiskars and rarely carry one these days. GL&HH🖖
Most of the parks here in Vancouver we would get kicked out of if we brought those murder shovels 😂😂. Loved the info, will help me when I finally buy my grownup trowel.
Metal Detecting With The Kurks that’s a really good point we should have mentioned. We only use our t shovels in the woods, private permission and farm fields. 👍
I'm kinda leaning towards the Garret or the leshe digger it seems like there built heavier what do you suggest for heavier more compact soil ? I use a Anaconda nx5 shovel which is freaking amazing but I don't think they make a small trowel. How much is your white's?? I've been detecting for 15 years now but I'm constantly breaking them . What's the weight of the white's also ? I'd rather one built heavy like the white's
Unfortunately, White's is no longer but was purchased by Garrett. Unsure what they are offering at the moment. The Garrett was definitely heavy duty but wasn't sharp. We're going to try Motley digging tools this season.
Good point, I checked out US pricing for each. Whites hand digger 39.95, Garrett 39.95, Lesche 43.99. T Handles shovels predator 96.95, wiskey Walker was selling hers for 99.00 US. Whites ground hawg 59.95.
I bought the Garrett digger as well, and I found it too thick as well, and not sharp enough, it's about as sharp as a bowling ball! I'm gonna take a grinder to it! I love the Predator-Piranha, but I couldn't bring myself to pay almost 190. bucks to get it to Toronto, and the Sampson I wanted is out of stock. So I ordered the Lil' Digger- $39.99 USD from Alabama and had it sent to my parents house, so I can bring it back in my checked bag. I don't think the Piranha would fit.
Thanks for your input. Hope the grinder helps..Yeah, I know what you mean about the piranha. I'm shopping for a shovel, since I broke all of mine. Laurie is using the piranha..the only survivor..lol. I am looking at the Lesche shovels but i may just suck it up and get the piranha. don't know...HH Eric
I really appreciate this review, thank you so much for filming the review! ❤️ I gave you a thumbs up and LIKED your video review. I have been struggling with a replacment shovel. This gives me a better grasp on the choices. I have been concerned with choices out there for shovels with steel wrapped around wood that are available in local building stores. They seem to not be as well built as they could be for soil penetration and reaming on it. Defintely would not last. And there are so many shovels out there with wimpy welds attaching the handle to the blade! Very frustrating to find a GOOD solid one. Thanks for this review. You have made my choices more clear! Wondering though....could you please provide links to the shovel manufacturers in your description? Thank you ever so much! XO
Any idea where you can still buy the whites dig master tool? I can't find it anywhere I have one and love it as well, the blade snapped on my recently from prying up on very hard ground, I didn't think it could happen but it did 😞
Great info, I have the ground hawg shovel myself, the first one I had I bent the first day I had it with in 30 mins. I do have a video up when it happen, they did replace it for me, but I'm just afraid it's not strong enough where the shovel meets the shaft, the little elbow part it bends easy.
Eric talked about the elbow part and wondered how it would do. I didn’t use that clip but you answered the question well. Thank you for sharing that! The predator shovel we have, has taken 6 years of beating. We have never even sharpened it nor has it bent.
the ground haws actually really great for rocky areas, and roots, does small holes....... only complaint is I wouldn't reef on it to hard. if they would have welded a piece of metal from shovel to shaft it would be perfect. :) but eric did well!!!! I should show you a picture of my hand digger that has lasted me 4 years you would laugh.
I’d like to see it 😁 one thing I did like about the Whites ground hawg was how well you could scoop the dirt out of a hole. It’s more concave and held more dirt.
@@RelicDirtyhands well after going back and forth I finally ordered the lesche, it's a little lighter, and the smaller guard is what finally made up my mind
Digging Canuck Thanks Liz! I think having a side by side comparison will help people see the differences between them. At the end of the day it's about personal preference. HH Eric
From my experience and others I've seen, I would choose a shovel from predator tools..they are light weight and very strong. They use some type of aerospace allow. Nice point as well..recently I acquired a lesche T handle and I find the foot step is to small...much preffer the predator. i use the pirhana but they have different models. The barracuda could be a good choice.
@@RelicDirtyhands Here is the picture of the break in case your audience needs to see it. I cant find the Piranha shovel you are talking about on amazon. I see the Hoover Boys using them all the time. I really need one but due to what just happened today I think I am attempting to be more careful when shopping for metal detecting tools. Here is the picture: i.imgur.com/ybAItId.jpg
@@mariaberry7662 Wow we’ve had ours for years now and they have held up. That’s awful, sorry to hear that was you’re experience but thanks for letting us know!
It would be great if who ever made the whites digging knife for them would start making them, it's unlikely that whites actually made them.I would buy one asap😊
I just subscribed to your channel..I am a j3b sub that came to check u guys out..bonus that u are Canadian I am in Alberta..Where are u? Very informative info thank u
Hi Carol, thank you so much for subscribing, we live out in Quebec. 😁 I was in Alberta for two months as a teen. The light evenings and northern lights is what I remember most. Welcome to our channel! Laurie
We went through that, did the same. Until they brake in the most inconvenient moments and places. After spoiling a few outings and buying a few of those...
Really great video. My wife would like your permission to use it on her new website entitled metaldetectorbattles.com. Please let me know if you are interested.
