So I decided to go looking for gold by digging nickel signals only while metal detecting in Michigan. It was a pretty good strategy and we found some interesting items.

I'm sure the fair grounds down there have a few gold coins hidden around the track! Lots of oldies have come out of there.

If you are looking for gold. You should have been 32 to to around 72. You will be missing engagement rings 50 up to low 70's

Ya I know, I'm just not that dedicated to dig signals that low in dirt yet. If I was in the water or on the beach, different story...haha! I can only handle so much foil in the dirt.

I found a thin Au. ring at 41 mid tone and repeating using pro mode channel one in with zero setting & balanced also swing somewhat slow for the smaller Gold keep it balanced and be ready for can slaw all gold sounds smoother than slaw but very similar. Now a modern five cent nickel and or a medium gold ring will come in at 51/52 The AU will be smoother than a nickel but not by much. so who knows in 2019 I had found a big white gold 10 Kt 2004 class ring in 3'' compacted soil (I posted it on the Oregon metal detector club pics/video) for a man and it came in at a solid 48 with a very smooth mid tone. I love the AT Pro and if I could Challenge the Ringmaster to a gold ring hunt of his choice I would out do him and I would bet him a lunch and win lol! RH100

I've dug every single month here in Michigan before. When the snow and permafrost set in, I've gone back to the rivers and streams as the flowing water keeps it from freezing over.
