While I do not do metal detecting, I found your video very informative. As I am sure anyone who wants to do this will be very grateful. I have to say though, I loved the rain.
Hi Donnie, - I am sure this will be helpful for those folks on the edge about getting into the hobby. This will give some folks that little nudge they need .. Thanks for the vid and your time!
Thanks Donnie, you make me want to metal detect an old road on my property at the top of the mountain. I have a cheap Uniden 2020 but I’m hoping to find some treasures. Lost of history on this mountain and even an old cemetery. I’ve just been so busy it seems like to take time to do it. Getting wood for winters, getting the garden planted, taking care of the yard and house. I’m 72 now and guess I need to take time to enjoy some fun things before it’s too late. You have motivated me to do that. Thanks for the lesson. Guess I will start using the metal detector my wife got me 10 years ago. hava good day and good hunting.
I love going in the hills and hollows where I know stuff was so long ago such as old back country schools, homes and road beds around hills. Also, if you research and find out where a sawmill was many many years back thats also a great spot! Sometimes old sawmill sites will offer large hand tools. My oldest half dime is 1830 and right near that was a war button and Musket balls. Watch for snakes is overall! My dog recently got bit and didn't think she was going to make it. I hauled her out on atv and got her pumped full of some natural stuff from the woods that I cook and boil down. Wild Cocklebur leaves Boiled down in a pot with some milk is the very best thing but I used a little different method this time due to not finding the Cockleburs. I took natural grass, clover, mulberry leaves, the berry it's self, apple cider vineger and milk. After that you make the dog drink the juice of what comes from all that. If they won't drink it you'll have to just put it down them. There's something in that natural stuff that will overcome the snake bite. Again the Cocklebur leaves Boiled with milk works wonders when you have it! You give the dog the milk after those leaves has been boiled in or with it. Been using this method for probably 30 years and never lost a dog yet.
We could use some of that rain out here for sure Donnie... That's quite a catch of finds you've made with your metal detector ....and those are some super neat old coin finds in great shape...Thank you for the informative metal detecting video Brother .
Mornin’ Donnie, I just got my little old Bounty Hunter Tracker IV out and thanks to your video, I’m gonna take my little ‘un out for some practice. I hope something special happens for you today!
Donnie, I`m not 100% sure but I heard one time that the 600 uses three multi frequencies and the 800 uses five. The Minelab Vanquish 340 uses the same frequencies as the 800 all at the same time, 5 khz -- 10 khz --- 15 khz --- 20 khz --- 40 khz. It`s just a turn on and go "Equinox lite" with extremely simple settings and build quality. Very nice shaft too. On/Off/noise cancel, volume, sensitivity, coin mode, jewelry mode, and relic mode. I think the coil is 10X7. Mine hits a nickel solid at 13 inches in air tests. It`s set to high iron bias. Each mode changes which frequencies are favored and recovery speed. Coin is fastest and favors the best coin frequencies and relic is slowest but deepist. Jewelry mode favors higher frequencies to find small gold targets like earring backs. You may prefer the Vanquish 440 (still inexpensive) or 540 (more advanced settings, larger coil, etc) but the 340 is only 200 bucks. These are great backups with similar tones and performance and same target ID numbers. Great for those who can`t buy an Equinox but want to hunt beaches or deep coins.
Donnie, this is the first time I have ever seen you in a video. You look nothing like I pictured. It’s not a bad thing but I just had a visual in my head based off your voice. Another good video! Thanks for sharing!
I hope I did not disappoint you friend. I'm in a lot of my videos. Just a old country boy from these mountains. God bless you. Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing that.
Interesting stuff sir. I am just getting into this stuff. I have a mid range Garrett. It's an ACE 350. The main reason I went with Garrett is because my best friend owns a pawn shop and he is a Garrett dealer so I got the best deal there. I will probably upgrade someday and I will definitely look into the equinox as well. I also have a Garrett pinpointer which makes it so much easier.
Watched the cades cove video tonight for the third time and I had seen one time in the past that a crying baby could be a bigfoot ! Just a thought and thanks for all the great work you do ! JK in Ohio
Very nice video I just now found your RU-vid channel and so what like what part of Tennessee is that you know like he’s Tennessee like you know no just general area I guess I can I can I didn’t realize that you’re so beautiful there
Have you ever used a Garrett AT Pro? I like them because even I can understand how to use them. Those Equinoxes would be too complicated and expensive for me. Also thinking about getting a Fisher F22. I've seen a lot of good videos on those. Just about everyone that uses them likes them. Those F22's are weatherproof and can be used in the rain. The ground balance is preset on those F22's.
The f22 was my first modern digital detector all analog before that and I was and still am extremely happy with it and for the price and the 5 year warranty it’s well worth the money I’ve found many coins and more relics that I can even think of depth wise I don’t think it’s as deep as the more expensive machines but it’s a very good general purpose machine I recommend trying to get one with the 11dd
