You know RHCP have been improvising jams live for like 30 years. That's on top of Chad being a session drummer for countless bands and even non-rock artists. This dude knows how to improv well, I have no doubt he's never heard the song and just nailed it the first listen. 30 seconds to mars don't exactly have the most complicated song structure, so that helped too.

RHCP is effectively a "jam band" at their core, that's how they come up with most of their material (and IMO what gives it the energy) but THIS is what you're able to do when you're comfortable within that context. Dude you NEED to react to the drummer from Megadeath playing along to Mr. Brightside. It’s so good!! What is so amazing about Chad is it was just one play through. Other drummers have to map everything out and have multiple listens, but not Chad! That was epic!

He is so great, and it sounded like it was the original. I absolutely love it out of all these first-time plays.

I’m not shocked. The Peppers are my favorite band and Chad is one reason. His vibe just makes me want to hang. I could watch & listen to him play forever. 🌶️🥁
