And I love that Glam has that moment of "I swear to God child" but decides to not go back on his word. I love seeing moments where Glam could act out due to the abuse he suffered, and continue the abuse, but actively chooses not to. I also love how he needed a moment before saying "Ok", like he needed to calm down and make a better choice. It's so interesting seeing how much better Glam is than his father, but the show still shows us that healing from abuse and trauma isn't instant and you don't totally stop having moments where you could flip out, and you actively have to choose to be better.

we only see it from his perspective, that story had a very strong wibe of "unreliable narrator" I think we would get a very different story if we saw it from the perspective of his sister.

This is what glam remembers or believes, but it could be that his dad was a loving but strict father who occasionally gave him a spanking when he misbehaved, someone who may have given him a snide reply over not being #1 and someone who didn't really respect his privacy. Meaning that from another perspective we might have seen a caring father trying to reign in an unruly child, and what glam was really hiding under the boards were not a model city (something completely innocent), but rather something really bad, like narcotics, alcohol and tobacco. the unreliable narrator is an interesting tool, because we tend to believe the narrator in a story especially in a visual medium like a film, at face value where maybe we should doubt everything we see as they come from the perspective of a character. An example of where this technique is used was in the sitcom "How I met your mother" Ted is often seen as the loveable straight man centre of a group of friends who nevertheless often do kind of jerkish things. But the story at large are also told by future Ted, and thus he tend to put himself in a more positive light. There is a truth in there somewhere but we sometimes have to dig a little after it, and in the end only come out with theories (as it all happened many years ago) One of the clearest example of this technique from the show was The Astray S08E17 where the same story is told three times.

Moreover, from the Russian version, they do not receive monetization due to copyright for music that they do not cover. This gives her its vibe. (I apologize if there are any mistakes, I use a translator from Russian to English)

wish we could get english subtitles on the russian episodes, I just prefer the russian language version since that is the way I learned to love Metal Family.

Gustav clearly rubbed off him as seen in "Do You Play The Guitar?" and even after upsetting Dee Glam did not take back his words.

I love that Glam isn't perfect, and still has moments where he gets angry or frustrated. Usually the audience is shown either a parent that hasn't healed, and is horrible to their kids, or a completely healed person that is wonderful. Glam's behaviour is more realistic, and when he does have his moments, he apologises, or takes a moment to remember to do better.

It’s usually how it is my mom created the punishments and my father enforced them and ensured there was leeway for certain situations. For example if I was grounded from my phone but I was heading to school I’d take it to school then drop it off at home

Nah, that Isengard line was 100% hilarious, can't fault him for that. The biggest overstep was keeping the rat, though it remains to be seen how far he'll take his actions. Super excited for this series, found out about it yesterday and I've binged the whole thing.

Yeah, the rat going to him wasn't a choice of his, and giving the scientist the middle finger by giving up the telling him when he was so rude about Dee just trying to fix things was understandable for a teen, but he dug his own grave by messing with that girl who'd clearly been getting a but of a crush. She was still in the wrong for ratting him out in her own right, but it was still in response to something he did of his own free will, no prompting at all. The keeping the rat...clearly he's compassionate enough to have not wanted it to meet the fate of the other rat, but when it came between breaking or keeping the rules of his parents home the deciding factor was the approval of a girl he's been trying to impress with other shallow stuff, like playing guitar. It does seem like someone who goes toe to toe with adults (and often loses like with the poker game, but still feels confident enough to try) Is having a difficult time finding interest in a lot of things - he usually seems quite bored and unenthused, taking things slow and unhassled like he's not very invested. I think the most excited I've seen him is watching the footage of Vicky beating up the anti-smokers with Heavy. So now he's focused on this girl he's in contact with bc it's something new and something he's actively working at, something challenging (puberty probably doesn't help), and in the meantime...he's a little mean to people he doesn't care about, like random classmates. I read somewhere that the creators said that the point of how Glam behaved in the guitar episode was to try and teach Dee what it's like to be on the other end of how he's liable to treat people who don't immediately get things that come easy to him as a gifted kid. The backpedalling when he gets too in Dees face has me thinking that there was some projecting there as well, but it overall seems like they're writing a very interesting character who's struggling with being bright enough to not have the same growing pains as regular teens and how it's still coming out as a form of acting out It's shockingly grounded for a story that started with teachers cutting a kids hair and getting glitter bombed by the eerily smiling dad then beat up by the biker mom

He wants to be the smartest, and he'd be damned if he was going to let someone so "average" (as he sees it) best him in class. He wanted to humiliate her so she knew he was too good for her, and that's his issue. He needs to learn how to manage that better, or else he won't be able to make any meaningful connections with people (without hurting them, at least.)

I always thought that was the point of the end scene between Glam and Dee at the end of the episode. I like to think that the guitar incident took place before the box 37 incident. Now that a boatload of painful memories has come flooding back, it's making Glam reevaluate his behavior, as we know self-improvement is important to him. Like, during the end scene, Glam is still being Glam, but we can really see Glam holding himself back from snapping over the rat thing. It's not perfect, and it doesn't justify what came before, but it's a step in the right direction.

I don’t think Glam was specifically telling Dee not to pursue music, just that he’s not going to magically be good at music because his talents don’t lie in that skill set. It was harsh how he said it, but he was just telling him that he needed to practice

@@angelinak2605 It was harsh, which is why Glam apologized for being rough, but it wasn’t forcing him to quit, but just telling him that he should try harder (which is why he got the most brutal when Dee said he wanted to skip all the technicals and just learn songs)

Glam, as Hogwarts’s teacher, was quite good in magic, but as rational person just couldn’t believe it’s real and was gulping tons of anti hallucination pills all the time, poor lad :D

It makes sense When he was first sneaking out with chive, he was out all night and up all day. He was literally getting ZERO sleep and it's been proven that after a long enough period without sleep, you'll begin to hallucinate Question is... Was he taking that medication at the time to stop hallucinations while sneaking out? Or...the darker thought Did that have long-term consequences and is he on that medication currently?

Maybe it’s not so much of the rat itself, but Dee lying. In my house, lying is a big no-no. Like you’d get more in trouble for that than anything you’ve done.

Many times adults adapt their parents behavior as it is the only thing they known as a child. Glam is already doing better but some things and old habits stay and without some behav therapy it's really hard

You can see that he is trying to be better than his own father, and he is. But we are all human, and humans tend to fall back into old habits. We act in the way that is most normal to us, that we grew up with. And for Glam, he grew up being degraded and beaten by his father. He grew up with so much violence and coldness, that it's hard for him not to act out on his instincts. Now it's the dilemma of "will he fall in his father's footsteps and repeat the same mistakes?" or, "will he break the cycle of generational trauma and become better for himself and his children?" And I hope for the sake of himself and his family, that he will make the right decision, no matter how hard it is.

I think part of it is also that they didnt really try matching the syllables as a lot of other dubbed shows do, at least not for the extra characters

It has some elements of change. As the talking does sync up better than if it was to be subbed straight over the Russian. This is also why they have to take such a while. As they do need to reanimate frames. So yes they have synced it but not as much as last time possibly. Either that their sync is not always perfect as their first language like mine is Russian. So it won’t always be same exact movements as real English speech. I enjoy watching the English dub too aswel as Russian

I might have some answers for you regarding your second question. You don't really get hallucinations from child abuse per say, child abuse normally causes some sort of mental illness, the likely of which being BPD and DID, it's also possible he could have a genetic mental illness like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depressive disorder. I know people with BPD AND MDD can have pychosis and people with paranoid schizophrenia have hallucinations. I'mnot sure about the other illnesses but hallucinations is certainly possible with these. Or he could just be very in tune with medicine since he and Dee both seem to know a lot about many things. He could've possibly learned it for a friend or for his family incase a person may need it.

Just a bit sad that Vikki and Heavy are at the moment underused. They had an interesting dynamic settling itself in the episode at the bar.
