2 years in the making, Metal Gear is a non-profit fan film dedicated to the Metal Gear Solid Series and it's creator, Hideo Kojima.
Already winner of several film festival awards including Best Short Film @ Asians on Film, this love project began 3 years ago with the dream of one day working with Hideo Kojima on a full length feature film.
We hope that you the MGS fans, our fellow Metal Gear fan-film-makers, and Hideo Kojima will embrace this movie as your own, because it is.

There's another guy trying to get a Metal Gear fan film done too and I think it has a lot of the same concepts as this, revisiting the old games to flesh them out more in line with the MGS series.

Evan and I swapped one airsoft (.45 replica) in the Grey Fox fight; we used a solid rubber .45 replica in the Big Boss scenes

(cont.) I don't even think David Hayter could have much range (on screen) without dialing down his own iconic voice. It has to feel natural not forced. Rick didn't sound like MGS4 Big Boss but he felt way more authentic to the character than Kennedy did with Snake. And Im sure Rick didn't grow up playing these games either. Just my opinion; this was great overall and far better than Philanthropy. I'm surprised I never heard of it. Needs more exposure.

This is a perfect stand alone... However Big Boss never acknowledged David as his son. If anything, David and his brother, even Solidus, were not wanted by Jack. This is still great though. Well done for the budget that it had.

i thought the fight scene clips were way to short. like every 2 milliseconds the camera angle would change. it would be better if the fight choreography clips were longer and stringed together better. imo

I love this as much as the next MGS fan, but my main criticism would be that the "Snake" voice needs to be synced enough with the actor to the point in which he can have a full range of acting ability as if it were his own voice. It always seems too "one-note" here where as Rick has his great range. In these scenarios range is more important than authenticity; yes even for Snake's iconic voice. It is better to dial it down some in favor of acting range.

Sam Elliott would have been a good Old Snake, or Big Boss. Voice and appearance. These guys were decent and looked the part. But Kennedy, although a good actor (considering it's his debut), should have prepared his voice for more than just 2 weeks. (Also, he was a school teacher, imagine how amazed or scared those kids were).

Good job. There are some things that don't match up with the actual story though. At the end of Peace Walker, Big Boss rejected The Boss and threw away the headband, it's not the same one Snake has (Big Boss's was green, Snake's is blue) Also, Snake didn't know he was going to take down Big Boss when he infiltrated Outer Heaven, or Zanzibar land, didn't fight against Gray Fox until Metal Gear 2, and Big Boss never viewed Snake as a son, as he admits in MGS4. Still a well made alternate story tho

im not hating i just thought how it was edited together and the way the short film played out wasn't very good. the sound affects were so noticeable and you could tell the voice was dubbed. its a good attempt but you can't re create genius

Subbed, This has to be the best fan short Ive seen for metal gear. I made a homage parody action comedy series called punished liver; check out Punished Liver III on my channel if you guys want more MGS fan films, sorry for shameless self promotion but I love this short, made any other metal gear content ?
