I recently finished this game for the first time and even 2:41 sounds nostalgic to me. Standing in the street,with snake,wearing those random arse outfits. I ain't complaining,when this played over it truly felt like the mission was accomplished.
Sadly, it is now truly forgotten. The new generations of game have replace it. Metal Gear franchise is now just another washed-up franchise that people knew the name but did not give a fuck about.
@@johncarter4956 i dont totally agree, although i hate the fact that its been brushed aside and the new generation will never know its greatness. its never washed up though and never forgotten by the true fans, its in all our souls and no one can take that away. I feel lucky to of been brought up with this game. It will never be beaten.

This song slaps so hard even if you put this on other games it will still have the same great effect. Imagine ace combat with mgs theme. And vice versa of boss fight themes of ace combat on mgs games
I love how both mgs and ace combat fandoms always make callbacks to each other's franchises despite being completely different games aside from the anti war themes. (And I love it).
I am not sure about that, living in 2016 means these great games that were once 60$ about 15$, Plus being able to download pretty much all the metal gear games in HD is wonderful.
I have never seen a bigger upgrade then MGS to MGS2. I finished the playstation game and was like yeah pretty good, then I boot up MGS2 and get this theme, the opening movie, graphics almost as good as what we have today. I see a lot of people call this game ahead of its time for its story, but the presentation and gameplay were decades ahead as well
I bought the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection to my PS3...And damn i felt so nostalgic to play this games again...Thank you Kojima to directed and created the best games ever....ehehehehe...=)
Currently replaying MGS2 for the first time in years! The has definitely aged as far as gameplay goes, but the presentation, music, story and themes are more relevant today than I think anyone could have predicted! Truly area of its time!
Hands down the best MGS game ever and also my favourite game of all time. The story is just so fucking god, you can really adapt it to today and the current world events.
This series and specifically this game will never be forgotten... I won't let it. Idk what it is but this is the game that hits the hardest for me in terms of well everything, that's not saying that the others aren't as good because I was definitely crying and saluting at the end of mgs3 but holy shit this game was perfect
DaBomBDotCom There was a lawsuit filed by the Russians. Supposely they claimed the MGS2 theme sound awfully similar to an Russian composer long ago. Yes, they also chatted with this to Kojima in a little meeting and listen the song himself. Kojima was surprised it was similar but you can tell he a little pissed off. So yeah in the nutshell, Kojima can't use this theme in any future Metal Gear titles. Itcould be possible to bypass the lawsuit but knowing Kojima and Konami they're not going to take that chance.
magnusm4 Well I wouldn't say that. Because by the end of the day, it always comes down to money (like copyright infringement incident from Square Enix and SNK last week). I wanna correct myself, the lawsuit wasn't filed yet but demanded that "theme" not to be used in any future Metal Gear titles. So basically, Konami (and Kojima) and Russians agree the terms.

idk if anyone has ever watched this, but when I was young I watched a chinese television series called 3000 whys of blue cat - dinosaur times. And in that series, they kept playing a remake of this very ost. I've spent 12 years trying to find this song... and today, I've finally found it. :')
2:40. The part where you walk away from an explosion...without looking back. 3:03. The part where you call your wife/husband by codec & tell him/her, "Baby, I might not come home." 3:23. The part where you think to yourself, "I'm no hero....never was....never will be...." while charging towards soldiers, Metal Gears, a super-human elite unit, & Liquid Ocelot.

I'm almost 32, being fan of MGS since 1998, not ashamed to admit I played Fortnite for the first time today (finally a collab that pulled me in)... I know since I'm a noob I get paired with people of my level, but still this played in my head during my first game (still with default skin and everything)... and won. Again, I know I didn't play against pros but still for a moment, a quote popped on my head: "Age hasn't slowed you down one bit".
People can argue if this is the best MGS theme or not but when you're like 12/13 in 2001 and loading this game up in your PS2 that you got for Christmas for the first time and seeing this intro - it's a fucking unreal experience.
Oh man. I used to listen to this religiously as a kid. It’s been forever since I last listened to it at this point though, and hearing it again just overwhelmed me with nostalgia. An epic song made ten times more epic.
I almost feel like 2:40 to 3:41could be adapted/simplified to trumpet solo, and played at the closing of a Remembrance Day ceremony. It can't replace "The Last Post", but I get a similar feeling from it, and it almost seems like it could fit. I wonder...
@@ahmetcikko The canon story ended in Mgs4 but the concluding game was Mgs5, the reason why Mgs actually ended because Konami and Kojima got into a problem where Konami forced Kojima to release Mgs5 early dispite the game not even being complete, the game was still great but Kojima was fired and many of us considered the series dead after Kojima left, Konami attempted at making a Metal gear game but it turned out really bad so they ditched the series (I think).
@@ahmetcikko they also threw castlevania away for no good reason, 2 of the best game franchises in the world, gone, konami is slowly killing itself, if they don't fix the problems they've made for themselves they're done for.
Now Konami is busy making pay-to-win mobile games or some other bullshit, as far as I know. The most idiotic business decision ever. But ehy, it's their failure.
I remember mgs2 as my "first" mgs.. cause i was too young when playing mgs1, I didn't understand truly the game... but I remember mgs2 intro with raiden and snake covering each other against the frogs.. so epic
Say what you will about Harry Gregson-Williams, he's without a shadow of a doubt a great music composer from Sussex, England he composed many video games and movies such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Spy Game, The Martian, Antz, Chicken Run, The Tigger Movie, Shrek and many more
Man what a game. Don't judge me, but I met the series with TPP, i'm just 14, and I played MGS( one of the best games ever made) in ps1 emulator, and now I am playing Sons of Patriots, and man, Kojima is a genius.
IamCaptainMan In my eyes solidus and ocelot aren't really too bad as they are fighting to continue on bosses ideology against the Patriots. I would consider them more of anti-heros like the boss than actual villains.
k mag 32 I would say you're right about that. The unfortunate thing was that Solidus was ready to bomb millions of innocent people in his crusade against the Patriots. As for Ocelot, you're probably right about that. He kinda does whatever he wants and will destroy anyone who gets in his way. But he isn't void of respect and honor; same for solidus.
My favorite theme in the series. It is exciting and gorgeous, but in the same time calm and peaceful in some way. *Piece of art, period.* Just like the game.
Hearing this music, I'm somewhat dismayed that this song was scrapped from Brawl and also didn't make it to Ultimate. I know its because of plagiarism accusations, but I feel that they could've gotten around that by saying something along the lines of "Based on Winter Road by Georgy Sviridov", because this song is too badass to go to waste, especially at 2:40. Makes you feel like a real hero who saved countless people by preventing a tragedy before it could happen.
This music has somehow the power to bring me back from the death realm when i'm passed out drunk. I mean, seriously, my friends play this music when i'm dead in a corner and i get up to salute the epicness of the music, probably
