Metal Gear Solid game review 

One of the best games ever made. To this day, when Snake enters the elevator in the beginning of the game stripping of his scuba gear. It still gives me goose bumps.

whenever I play this game, it always reminds me "graphics quality doesn't matter at all."

If you have stealth, then you don't need infinite ammo, so Tux. Lookin good when you waste them with your Famas.

I played this game three times in a row and never got bored, this game is amazing.

Childhood favorite right here, it'll always be close to my heart and also one of the hardest games I've ever played... but in a really good way!

Best villains of MGS in order: 01. Psycho Mantis 02. Sniper Wolf 03. Fox 04. Revolver Ocelot 05. Vulcan Raven Yep. Always Psycho Mantis because he really is the most memorable. Sniper Wolf because - fuck. Her final scene made me cry.

I just replayed MGS recently, and I can assure: it NEVER gets old. To answer the question in your vid, I'd say my favorite video game villains of all time would definitely be Kuja from FFIX, Master Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts, and the Boss (even though it's really hard to see her as a villain) from MGS3.

I remember the Codec conversations in these games. Every time I felt scared, unsure of something or whatever, I always talked to someone. Those moments are the most memorable for me, because I always felt safe when I talked to my crew. I always felt like: "Yeah, I can do this! I will make this work" afterwards. The fact that a video game made me feel that... well, yeah... Enough said. These games are fucking awesome, they get under your skin. Big time. And that is saying something...

This game has really aged well for a 90s 3D game

I remember playing this game when it came out I was in high school, and I was OBSESSED with it. I remembered the old nintendo game Metal Gear, but this was fucking AWESOME. I would smoke "Maverick" cigarettes and it was awesome, because they came in a black pack with a gold eagle on them, just like Solid Snake would smoke.

To y'all youngins, the graphics may not look that great now but trust me when I tell you, they were so realistic at the time that I was 4 years old and literally cried tears when my dad played this game 😂😂 it scared my tits off I ain't ashamed of it. One of the greatest video games I have ever played. The gameplay is revolutionary, but not only that, the voice acting is amazing, the story is awesome, and the characters are relatable.

I know it'll sound like a joke, but the first video game I've played with good voice acting is Crash Bandicoot 2.

For me, it wasn't the lack of first person aiming that was jarring, it was the fixed camera view points, I just couldn't aim at enemies as I couldn't see them

MG1 and MG2 are MSX2 games but MSX2 was never released outside japan so most people don't know about it. MG1 is on NES but that version is absolute crap..... i feel asleep.

I've watched a few of your videos and man, you're good. I could tell you've been around and not one of these bandwagon reviewers that are doing it because everyone else is. You genuinely enjoy the games and have been gaming for a while.

Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2. His constant comedic harassment resulted in my hatred and respect of him. I also found his obsession with being the hero fascinating.

I know the story and setting is totally different but Tenchu is also I cool infiltration/assassination game from back in the day :) I think it was a great addition to the spy game genre that was starting in the 90's. Besides ninjas are freaking awesome and the fact that Sho Kosugi and his son Kane made the Mocap for the main characters is cool too! Have you played it Jeremy? If you have would you make a review of it?

I'm afraid that I'm turning into one of "those guys" on the internet cause every time someone says the first two Metal Gears on NES it bothers me, I hate to be a dick about it but both of them were originally on the MSX2 and the first one got a port to the NES but the second never did. Instead it got the bastard child of the series "Snakes Revenge"

You summed up the first game perfectly. I bought it online after a friend recommended it to me. I don't regret it, its now become my favorite game series. Ocelot and mantiss were the best boss fights!!

Couple of weeks ago, I decided I wanted to play all of the MGS games since I've never played any of the games before. As of now, I've have finished mgs1 and 2. I'm currently playing mgs3 now. So far, mgs1 is my favorite for it's story, the characters, and catchy "alert theme". I can tell this game was ahead of it's time.

Just wanted to tell you your review kicked me into drive for replaying everythung metal gear solid. The original is such a masterpiece. Character development, story, audio visual everything. Granted over ten years later and enhanced gameplay from other games its a lot tougher then I remembered.

Psycho Mantis, I know I know; "how predictable"

My favourite videogame villain has to be Clockwerk from the Sly Cooper games. The story behind him, the mystery that surrounds him and the thoroughly intimidating appearance when he does appear is exceptional. He's one of those villains who is only mentioned and referenced to but never shown so that when you DO see him the impact is so much more effective......and his voice *shudder*

I loved the Sniper Wolf fights... make it pay alot of attention... like looking for her to breathe to know where she was...and gettin by all her wolves.. Good shit WAY ahead of its time..this game

I honestly think Twin Snakes is the version to play. Besides from the obvious upgrades in graphics, sounds and a less racist sounding Mei Ling, the gameplay aspects taken from Sons of Liberty were a nice change that made the game feel more accessible. No matter how much you love the ps1 MGS, you gotta admit that Sons of Liberty got the controls down pretty well.

I had never played a Metal Gear game until The Phantom Pain, but was really confused by the story aspects in TPP. I decided to play the entire series recently. I finished MGS1 a couple days ago and I'm amazed that I had more fun playing a game from 1998 then I did all year playing AAA games (except Rockets League, great game). Thanks you, Jeremy, for compelling me to play this AWESOME game.

Jeremy it's not unrealistic it's intentional since the genome soldiers were *spoiler alert* cloned from Big boss's DNA as the Big Brothers of Big Boss and they weren't as intelligently sufficient as liquid and solid it makes sense why they're kind of daft.

Metal gear solid was one of the first games to have quality voice acting. The magic of the first game has yet to be recaptured in this series. The characters whether hero or villain's were incredible. This arcs for the characters like Meryl realizing war isn't the fantasy she dreamed of and Otacon finding his purpose in life were great. Snake was at his best from the snarky quips to his cold mentality that later changes to his deep philosophy about war. The atmosphere was amazing. The Liquid snake is Master reveal blew 10 yr old me's mind.

On another note: I still love this game and play it about once a year in the winter. Some stuff is kinda dated, but the game is still better and more "modern" than most games nowadays. It is, without a doubt, my favourite game on PlayStation (sorry FFVIII and Spyro). Oh. And with the whole "Parkinson's Disease" thing while shooting the PSG1, that was because Snake wasn't a sharpshooter, so for him to aim that precisely, his arms would shake. Hence why you have to take the diazepam.

Favorite video game villan? Andrew Ryan definitely, no one has ever believed in what he was doing as much as Adrew Ryan, not to mention he is the best voice acted person in video game history.

Metal Gear Solid 2 was one of the first games I played on the PS2, it was way ahead of its time, graphics and gameplay were both awesome and the story was way more awesome than the other action games.

I'm playing the og physical copy and the game STILL holds up to this day, it's timeless. Resident evil is my favorite franchise, but even i have to admit MGS1 has the rest beat and it didn't truly have a rival franchise competing against it either. Not even syphon filter, despite coming out a year after MGS1 and those games were awesome as well and still are to a degree.

This video is old, but just for you Jeremy. MG1 and MG2 weren't on 'NES' so to speak. MG1 on NES was a port that MG-fans basically shun and MG2 NEVER was on a NES, it was purely on the MSX2 where MG1 was on MSX. NES just got a really crappy port from the MSX version and Kojima didn't have any power over what was done. So - remember for the fans! If you mention MG1/2! Always bring up MSX-Origins! :O (Or that its on MGS3:Subsistance and others now which brought it from MSX to current-gen)

Just played MGS for the first time, it's amazing how well the game holds up after all this time and I absolutely loved it.

Totally agree with you dude! How was it going back to play again? Is it better to play it on the ps1 because i tried to play mgs2 on the xbox and i just couldnt get into it again due to the controls being so clunky. But i am a HUGE fan of the series!

MGS IS a practical remake of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Meryl is Holly, down to the soldier disguise, fighting the Hin D, a tank, a ninja, 4 guys in an elevator, a key that changes shape based on temperature; so many other set pieces that Kojima just remixed when he made MGS.

That scene when Sniper wolf dies is one of my favorite video game moments of all time. You can just search for it right now, watch it and you still will be amazed! That's really something!! I mean you're not supposed to be sad watching cubes dying... how can they do that!? lol thank you Hideo for such masterpiece. "They call mercenaries like us Dogs of War. Favourite video game villain of all time is actually a bunch of MGS characters; Liquid Snake, Revolver Ocelot, Sniper Wolf, The Boss, Colonel Volgin, Vamp and Grey Fox...these games have the greatest characters from any medium.

in 1997 for me 2 games changed the way i thought of games as a medium for entertainment and story telling. Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7. Metal gear taught me what we deem as good and bad is just a perspective. after playing all the games you look at the villians roster and maybe a few of them were evil but the main bulk of them were not really evil, they were fighting for a cause they truly believed in. to this day i still own the original cases and discs for MGS and FF7

This game is still among my favorite games of all time, at least top 5 (MGS 3 is #1), and the funny thing is that I didn't play this game until 3 years ago.

if you get metal gear solid on the play station network and then go to "special" on the start menu you can read a summary of the original metal gear 1 and 2 so you know whats going on

Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake were for the MSX2 in Japan. Metal Gear got an inferior NES port for the states but MG2:SS was Kojima's answer to an unofficial sequel entitled "Snakes Revenge".

I know it was for me too when I first played, I had to use a walkthrough of the game here on RU-vid because I didn't know where to go and stuff. But just keep at it and at least beat it, the story is worth it, trust me. You don't have to get the HD Collection after this game, just try to get through this one.

This game was awesome. So "Awesometacular" that my dad asked me to teach him how to play it back then. This and Super Mario Kart on SNES were the only two games he attempted to play. Two of the best of all time IMO.
