Cam Clarke provided the English voice of Liquid Snake in the Metal Gear series.
Lori Alan provided the English voice of The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the latter of which included the Basilisk AI weapon in both Main Ops and Extra Ops DLC.
Robin Atkin Downes provided the English voice of Kazuhira Miller and various minor roles in the Metal Gear series.
Jennifer Hale provided the English voice of Naomi Hunter in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Emma Emmerich in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
Christopher Randolph provides the English voices of Dr. Hal "Otacon" Emmerich and Dr. "Huey" Emmerich in the Metal Gear series.
Debi Mae West provides the English voice of Meryl Silverburgh
Paul Eiding provided the English voice for Roy Campbell in the Metal Gear series.
Joshua "Josh" Keaton provided the English voice of Major Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

Otacon himself_is_ in the room. -Mae Zadler- Debi West said she didn't add anything to her voice to play Meryl, but I think Christopher -Fritz- Randolph added the least. With the others, it takes a second to hear their character when listening to their speaking voice, but with Randolph, there's just no question. The next closest maybe -James Flinders- Cam Clarke.

@Limits98 yeah, the three of them, but I feel like Lori and Debi have to get into the intonation to get their character's voice across if it makes sense, regardless the fact that their voices are the same as their respective characters. I think Chris has the voice AND intonation/speech patterns naturally, hence little to no effort in voicing his character compared to Lori and Debi.

Hearing Lori Alan speak is so amazing. The Boss's voice has a kind of magic to it. When she speaks, you just want to take it all in, it's got some kind of charisma. Hearing the rest of you do your characters is also super nostalgic, love it!

Agreed! He didn't cut in on anyone but wasn't given the chance or called in to speak by anyone. The moderator should've opened the floor with him first as he didn't speak in the initial discussion. Gotta honour the elders. I was half-expecting David to bring him in during the Santa question, that would've been neat. "Colonel, what are you hiding?" But hats off to all for putting this together, a real fan treat.

Let me tell you something about Metal Gear Solid 2: That game came out during a period of my life where I was bullied ruthlessly, I was exceptionally depressed, I had turned to starving myself in an attempt to lose weight because people made me feel like I was worthless, and I had suicidal thoughts on a regular basis. Metal Gear Solid 2 gave me a way to escape from that hell, and opened up a world that I felt like I could have some sort of control over (which is ironic, considering the nature of the story) and all of that staved off my negativity just enough to get through the day. When everyone said that they hated Raiden, I resonated with him as a character because he was the underdog, it felt to me like he had to fight for validation, something which I too felt like I had to do too. I was already a huge fan of the series by that point, but losing myself in Metal Gear Solid 2 gave me just enough of what I needed to get me through some of the darkest times in my life. So for that, I feel extremely indebted to everyone involved with it, and to Kojima for having the vision that he was able to realise.

wow.. thanks for sharing your personal story with us!! this touched me and i'm glad the game was able to help you in those tough times! i LOVE mgs 2 and i always loved jack even back then.. back then of course i ranked all the "snake metal gears" higher than mgs2 even though i loved it, but now with the years it.. aged.. SO.. f0cking.. incredible!! the whole a.i. thing and specially the ending and what they said about technology, it all came true! and even the music industrie is suing people because they make a.i. drake songs etc.. such an crazy connection and interpretation and foreseeing of the future.. it definitly rankes higher now in my top 5 metal gear solid, 4 sure!!

Kojima wrote that Ocelot used revolvers after Naked Snake suggested it: "Besides, I don't think you're cut out for an automatic in the first place; you tend to twist your elbow a little to absorb the recoil. That's more of a revolver technique." This is also the first time you get to hear Snake say "you're pretty good" chronologically. I played this game way too much as a kid/teen.

@@FutureDeep You're not wrong. He does mention during his battle with Snake that reloading like that was "a revolution". He does mess up on Ocelot growing up in Russia though. I thought he was an American NSA Codebreaker (secretly under the Patriots) but defected to Russia in 1960 which set him up as ADAM. Idk it's been so long since I've actually played it.

Its so much fun and it is like you said. Todays games do nothing but dissapoint me. For example Cyberpunk 2077. So much hype for an unfinished game. I stick to my childhood games ^^ glad you do too

We REALLY need to have an MGS Remake! The reason FF7 got a remake because the creators are getting older and they won't have the chance again if they keep delaying it. We now have remakes of Resident Evil 2 and FF7. The only missing is the MGS to complete the childhood game trinity!

He was originally going to use his own voice for Snake, but, after reading the script, he decided that someone so battle-weary, who had been pulled out of retirement, should sound more gravelly, and that turned into the Snake we know. Hayter talks about it toward the beginning of the interview.

I love this. The Metal Gear series and your characters have a very special place in my heart. Solid Snake is a character who is so much like myself that it's scary. Part of the reason I became a Marine was so that I could experience some of the things I imagined as a kid playing the first game, and also to experience the things my father did in Vietnam.
