So Big Boss hallucinated a talking cat that puns a lot, and then decided to ride with it to an island full of monsters. You know, he probably just swam there himself, the boat was just a figment of his imagination too. He really did fight dinosaurs, though.

This is the best thing I've seen yet from this. And I love Snark's reactions to the cat. I'll call this the peak of the LP, but I'll hope that I'm wrong.
You know, having officially played Monster Hunter myself now (4 Ultimate is pretty sweet!), the similarities are finally hitting me with that series and this game in general, just in terms of structure. 4-player co-op against the bosses, which are all colossal things, and your method of evading their attacks are rolling, shitloads of different weapons, the AI bosses have drops of varying rarity you use for yourself that you can increase the chance of getting by breaking various parts of their bodies, the vehicle bosses have their own rewards for tranqing them instead of destroying them outright... Suddenly this seems a lot less 'what the fuck even is my brain' than before. Still pretty goddamn weird, but we're talking 'came out of left field' and not 'flew in from the soccer park across the street'.

the UZ61 you develop (22:48 for the model) looks alot like the gun one of the XOF guys pulled out just before Skullface talks to Chico in the Ground Zeroes trailer. nothing substantial but still pretty cool in my opinion
As a huge Monster Hunter fan i'm glad that this odd crossover was in a metal gear game, and honestly it makes sense because as probably dozens of people have already pointed out the A.I. weapon fights work a lot like Monster Hunter fights pretty much with damaging certain parts giving you a chance to get more of them like damaging the rail gun on the flying A.I. to get a rail gun for ZEKE. Oh and also in Monster Hunter you can get a skill called Earplugs that block the stunning affects of monster roars and in the first Peace Walker fight and these Monster Hunter fights the same thing applies so i'm guessing that may also be reference to Monster Hunter too.
Best crossover EVER, no question! This game's got lots of really weird crossovers in general, though. Monster Hunter, Assassin's Creed, Pooyan, and probably others I forgot.
This was one of the few things I knew about the game and I was sure that was the mission you put the black bar over previously... now I'm really curious what that mission is. But man, all the memories of months wasted on flipping Monster Hunter are coming back to me... It was fun most of the time, but I don't like remembering it.
Do you know if you can cut the tail off like you can in the actual Monster Hunter games? This mode is insane though I never even knew about it when I played through! I wish they would make a Monster Hunter for Xbox 360 for Western audiences.
