The day I defeated Peace Walker was during the worse era of my life, my family was separating and I was enraged while battling PW, cue to PW drowning herself in name of peace while singing and I cried for hours. Sing a Song from the Carpenters became my favorite song during that year thanks to that game. A game about warfare taught me about peace, sacrifice and love. Days after my family reunited and became stronger than everything else. But during those days, This game was my heaven, my Outer Heaven. Thanks, Kojima.
I just realized: The game is named MGS: Peace Walker, and so is the metal gear named after the title. It stops the launch by walking out into the ocean, thus living up to its name of Peace WALKER. Brilliant symbolism, and Kojima is truly a genius.
Boss AI was close enough to the original she wouldn't have wanted to cause destruction to the Earth. Peace over nukes. She abandoned her mission to save everyone. This is why Big Boss renounces her, because she "dropped her weapon". He was a weapon too, she she abandoned him, according to his logic. That's my interpretation.
It's very clear via the Spirit Butterflies. They appeared in MGS3, both as a Means of Naked Snake to adjust to his loss of Depth Perception, and as a Theme of The Boss. And in MGSPW? They appeared when the Mammal Pod opened and Snake ejected her Drives.
@Effy Liz Rising didn't suck and no he didn't do MGSV because of the backslash for Rising,he did it because he wanted to and partially was presured by the fact that Konami wants him to make Metal Gear games till the end of times, just like the fans.
1) He could have stopped at anytime if he really wanted to 2) He has been making excuses aboun not wanting to make another Metal Gear game since Metal Gear 2 back in the early 90s
This ending is much more satisfying then the next...i mean, when i saw it,i loved it but i noticed that couldn't be it...then i saw the "continue in chapter 5"....i was like "OK now you're talking..." But chapter five is SHIT,repetitive shit with a non-sense boss fight...
So I get that destroying Peace Walker in the battle stopped it from launching nukes but not transmitting the data but can someone explain to me if there was a point in removing those memory boards from the mammal pod? It seems like that accomplished nothing. Would the Boss AI have still taken over the reptile pod and drowned Peace Walker if Snake hadn't removed those memory boards?
well, they didn't know it would compensate like that, but yes. Like Jibrael said though, without that part you don't get those memory boards for the PERFECT ZEKE.
The idea was that Mammal was transmitting, so by disabling it by removing the memory boards, it would stop transmitting. But instead, Reptile took over transmitting, compensating for the loss of Mammal. Then, "The Boss" took control of Peace Walker, and, while she couldn't prevent it from transmitting, she could stop its transmission by drowning Peace Walker.
I cried like a bitch watching this. more than 10 years ago, i went to game shop for gta, but i was minor and was refused by the owner of the shop. Instead, i bought mgspw. It was the luckiest thing ever happened to me.
I tried playing this mission on PPSSPP, but at 8:55 when the quote disappears, nothing happens anymore and the screen just stays black. Anyone have the same problem?
At the time I was too pissed off failing the boss fight over and over to comprehend the cutscene properly, but now when I play through I always get a bit choked up.
Stumbled upon my MGS PSP so I had to search some videos been some time since I laid my eyes on her. Not the hardest boss but it was a merciless battle nonetheless. My hands and left wrist was done by the end
@WithoutInsight wants to make a new one. There's also corporate pressure involved from Konami, since the franchise makes millions per year. All the main MGS games (1,2,3,4) each sold over 4 million copies each. As for MGS4, I think it's truthful that it's the last chronological game in the series, but for now he's making Big Boss prequels and/or possibly a remake of MG/MG2 before focusing on a new character or rebooting the franchise (new story, etc). He doesn't want Solid Snake to be (ctd.)
This game the series is Soo AWESOME. I did not want this to be the end. How do you get to Chapter 5 ? I habe MGS for the PS1 SON OF LIBERTY, SNAKE EATER, PEACE WALKER, MGS 4 & 5. What was METAL GEAR TWIN SNAKE AND METAL GEAR RISING ABOUT ? Did they have anything to do with the Original MGS Series?
@@mrgrimm4662 its not canon even though it was supervised by kojima it still is a spinoff only metal gear "solid" games are canon mgs mgs2 mgs3 mgs4 mgspo mgspw and mgs5 kojima himself stated that and gave the list of all thats canon to the main timeline
Hmmm, why is it that a "ghost in a machine" is a recurring theme in Japanese fiction. It's intriguing, is it a phobia? A fear of losing ones humanity, and living in a metal vessel.
@WithoutInsight handled by someone else, even if he's not involved in the future. Btw the reason i dont like PO is because of the retcons - Null and Sokolov. And the camera/control issues. I had no problem with the actual outline of the story that was written by Kojima, it's just the new director and writer fucked it up.
@JohnRobSur13 Sorry, i only just noticed that now, for some reason i thought it was more recent. Rising doesn't have Solid in the title and it's not gonna be canon, so i'm relieved, but yeah i think it might suck. Btw, Kojima explained after the announcement of PW why he always says "this MGS is the last".. it's because he devotes himself to the project and gets tired and can't imagine working on something else, but after he finishes his project, he gets thoughts on a new MGS and (ctd.)
It fascinates me as much as it traumatizes me, every time i see someone (or me dooing it) ripping out the memory boards and the ai slowly fading away. Either the fact that that ai must have been built to handle and ignore errors if needed or a straight up militairy build design, to don't bluescreen out, even if severe damages occurr to the memory in battle must have been the reason to work till the end. Seeing beeing reduced, piece by piece, every steppingstone that ai had in her training and growth making a last recall untill it is all gone. To analyze this anny further would be just to gruesome would it ? An experiment that shouldn't be ever made. Neither with man nore with animal. Not that you call me a cold monster about what i wrotevup there, i cried abbout the storry a lot and abbou the choice she made. Also i probably got a bit traumatized abbout the way you had to take her out, ripping out piece by piece of her memory while beeing concious, one of the gruesomest ways to die i could think of. And the terrifying thing is, that im fascinated by it, or rather, by how our memory works
It differs from game to game. MGS4 explained that the noises the Gekko make are specifically to confuse. As for the rest of the robots across the series, its just a way to make the Metal Gears appear more monstrous.
