I love how every game in the series has a large number of people who call it their "favourite". It's because every single game in the series is amazing. Most people say their favourites are MGS3 and then MGS1, but my favourites are MGS4 then MGS2.
moi fav ez metal gear survive. jk bitchass! who would like that piece of crap bullshit!! bring back kojima you dumpfuck konami! metal gear survive? more like.. METAL GEAR WANNA SURVIVE!! goddem! haaaaah!! ok. im out.
For me its MGS1 and MGS4...i dont know which one is first...and i dont know if MGS3 or MGS2 is next because they are both amazing...MGS3 has the story and realism but MGS2 has the best gameplay for me and and perfect scenario with a hidden meaning on it...I am sure that MGSV is my worst...but still very good...i think it has the best opening i have ever played
2 or 1 probably for story. 3 for gameplay. 4 would probably be number 1 for gameplay but I hate the 3rd act gameplay wise and the 5th act is just too short edit: always for get about mgs V. definitely amazing gameplay but the complete lack of story kills it for me. too open world in my book
I found 3 a little hard to get into at first, but I did eventually, and I enjoyed Peace Walker and 5 even more. I looking forward to 4 the most though!
Definitely what TheNickle said. That's the cheapest, most efficient way to get the majority of the games in the series. The only major ones you'd be missing would be Portable Ops, Phantom Pain, and Ground Zeroes (a prequel to Phantom Pain).
Definitely has the best music out of any game series. The alert fazes create such epic ness and panic. The singer-songs represent the games storyline and characters (also epic). The main themes create so much emotion and are amazingly orchestrated. The rest of the songs are equally epic. All together make a great gaming experience. MGS Forever.
2. Love Theme 3. Here's To You (or I might order them differently 1-3 if I think about it for longer, but for now it makes sense. All are very close anyway)
Funny thing about "here's to you" is that it's a song that was made in the 20's about two Italian anarchists (in the US) that were wrongly accused and executed by electric chair for armed robbery. The woman who sang and wrote the song included quotes from those who were accused (Nicola and Bart) just one example is the last line of the chorus/song where it says "This last and final moment is yours, and that agony is you triumph" which is a perspective change on the quote of one of the anarchists when interviewed.
@@Pavluk1985 actually tappy stole the theme for mgs1 and kojima told harry to remix it. They found out later after portable ops that it was stolen so blame tappy. Thats why metal gear saga in mgs4 isnt this theme
Some songs remember me the style of the songs of James Bond opening.... Snake Eater is too similar, and the opening video with snake bones and female shapes looks like James Bond film xD I love this saga so much...
i replayed the intro scene of MGS2 over and over again just to hear that music. MGS2 was the best. music, characters, story, and everything. MGS3 comes close. MGS1 very close. but MGS2 was just perfect. perfect from the beginning to the end. Raiden was an interesting character too.
***** I was replying to Matthew. MGS 2 is bottom of the list for so many fans. I mean all the games are brilliant anyway, but for me MGS1 and 3 were the stand outs both musically and storywise
***** Don't get me wrong, I love the game. When I first played it at 15, I'll admit it mindfucked me and was kind of a turn off at the time. But now I appreciate it for what it is, and what it's trying to do. That being said, it's still not my favourite, ambition scores the game brownie points but I like 1 and 3 more because it is very subtlety playing with conventions. In MGS 2, even the completely uninitiated, while they may largely miss the point, the experience of cognitive dissonance, and confusion is unavoidable.
Dunno why but the scene of Big Boss sprinting after Peace Walker always gives me goosebumps... like no matter what the odds are he'll always keep fighting... chills
When I first heard the Metal Gear Solid theme from MGS2 I thought that it was close to perfection for any soundtrack score, not just video games. Years later, when I heard Metal Gear Saga during MGS4, I was amazed at how they had tweaked it and yet remained true to the MGS feel. Perfection was reached and it brought back memories of every similar scene throughout Metal Gear history.
I truly think that the acoustic version of Love detterance is underrated, powerful, emotional and hopeful at the same time. The story of is playing the guitar and why is heartbreaking along with the fact of what Paz went through in her last moments. It's my top 3 along with mgs2 and Snake Eater
I may be a man I'm not ashamed admitting that hearing the legendary theme metal gear solid main theme brings a tear to my eyes along with a rush if memorys of playing mgs, makes me want to play them all again from the original metal gear solid to mgs 4
My top 10 10 Theme Of Tara 9 Escape 8 Father And Son (Mgs2) 7 Quiet's Theme 6Theme Of Solid Snake 5 Calling To The Nigth 4 Duel 3 Heavens Divide 2 Liquid Ocelot's Theme 1 Snake Eater
Damn what an awesome list, I jus love Snake Eater too much. It's the best but hands down your #1 was perfect. Only song here that I've cried multiple times too.
Best game series of all time (at least for me). Every game, MGS3, MGS: PW, MGSV: GZ, MG, MG2: SS, MGS, MGS2 and MGS4 are all fucking awesome. There hasn't been a game series where every game is perfect. I've yet to play Portable Ops, but like all the others, I will probably die of happiness of how great the game is when I'll buy it.
despite what everyone says, i would say if you have a PSP or can get one for cheap, the $10 to get PO from PSN is worth it. it fills in a part of the story left out, people say you can skip it not miss anything but they lie, it isn't important to the point of "you have to buy this to get the full story" but like how big boss met miller, and other small things, it's worth the 10 bucks.
My favourite game series ever. There's something about being on a mission to stop an unstoppable force with no help apart from a radio contact that just makes gaming amazing. And the cut scenes are remarkable the music's unbelievable. Just a shame there not throwing these games out every few years. But on the other hand it's quality not quantity I guess. Phantom pain is gonna be epic. And snake eaters my favourite in the series.
I'm sorry, I down-voted your comment purely because of the "Just a shame there not throwing these games out every few years" bit. I wouldn't want one too often, that would take away from the epicness of the games. I would HATE for this series to turn into COD or Battlefield. I'm happy with the frequency we get them. I agree with everything else :)
I come back to this video every now and then. The music helped make the Metal Gear Solid saga what it is today. Fine work - the stitching between the tracks is seamless. I like to show my non-MGS-playing friends this video should they be curious about the series.
Whenever I hear a new song for a MGS game I compare it to the intro theme to MGS. Honestly this is not only my favorite MGS song, but my favorite video game song people. Especially when it drops and the horns are coming back in very quietly accompanied by the military snare drums and then crescendo into a loud masterpiece, strings and choir in the background and at the moment you realize this is no long a game, but an epic tale.
Man, there were SO MANY great themes in MGS. It would be hard to choose, but I think Encounter or the Escape theme would be my favorite. I will never forget hearing the theme during the jeep chase in the tunnel. However, there were plenty of greats like "The Best Is Yet To Come", "Old Snake", the MGS 2 Theme and "Here's To You." Boss themes were also great, especially Psycho Mantis's theme.
Am I the only one here who absolutely loves Volgin's first theme? Clash with evil personified Edit: The End has the best boss theme Edit 2: First part was not sarcastic.
Metal Gear Saga would have to be my favourite. When the outro plays when solid and liquid snake are beating the shit out of each other on top of outer haven was just so beautiful and epic at the same time.
dude Enclosure (number 3) makes me so tearyeyed the song seems like its struggling but it never stops it keeps going with everything it has until its over it really encapsules sniper wolf's feelings and the rest of the cast for that matter i love it heck i love all the mgs songs they are amazing
I must say that even though PO doesn't leave much of an impression, it still have one hell of a great song that would stick to your head for a real long time.
It's awesome to have grown up with this series of games, and the songs are all so beautiful and emotional, there really are too many to make a top 10 list x'D Epic list btw, I'm VERY happy that Snake Eater made #2, and the MGS2 theme made #1, I just LOVE that song to bits
damn i miss this, metal gear is the best game that ever was made. i remember when i was a kid my dad would buy me a ps1 and i would buy mg 1 and 2. from when i was like 8, and i followed it til now when im 21. the story in metal gear is just perfect, snake is so interesting and you get to really like him after all the games, and he dies of aging syndrome. i get so sad when i think of all the years i played these games, made my childhood so different, wanted to be snake and all lol. damn
I played all the metal gear versions my dad introduced me at first I thought it sucked I kept slipping on bird poop but then I loved it so much I got each version
The best is yet to come is my childhood. I still get goosebumps when i hear that track. I teared up when kojima used it when snake returns to shadow moses in Guns. Has to be top 3 along with snake eater and MGS main theme (mgs2).
TOP 5 SONGS!! 1.The Best is Yet to Come 2.Snake Eater 3.Calling to the Night 4.Mike Oldfield - Nuclear 5.Sin of The Father Rest in Peace Konami MGS Series(1987 - 2015) Survive 💩
Adde3333 This list is highly questionable, though. Some unusual omissions as well as odd placement. For example: Father and Son > Best is Yet to Come, Encounter, and Calling to the Night????? Ridiculous. Oh, and Heavens Divide was atrocious music. Doesn't belong in MGS, let alone a top 10 music list.
noex100 Can't say I agree with Heavens Divide, I thought it fit perfectly in peace walker. And to be honest I think father and son is one of the best tunes in any metal gear game. I am not a huge fan of the best is yet to come and encounter is in my oppinion overshadowed by the mgs2 main theme. But as I said in my earlier comment, it's all subjective and no oppinion is more valid than the other. If anything it would be boring if everyone had the same oppinion :)
Adde3333 Yeah, I like different opinions and all. In fact, I was very interested to see how the author of the video would place them. Not looking for an exactly right list. I just think there are some very unusual decisions. Father and Son is great, but rather subdued. I don't think it should be any higher than 9 or 10. Calling to the Night is also outstanding, so I'm surprised (if not appalled) that it wasn't top 3. It also excluded very good tunes like "Old Snake". Ah, oh well.
Fantásticos soundtracks, Metal gear a parte de tener la historia más Epica en videojuego alguno, goza de tener una música excepcional en cada una de sus entregas.
Calling to the Night is so underrated. What a beautiful piece of music for a game not a lot of people played (compared to mainline titles int he series).
Amazing list, I would also (personally) add MGS3 version main theme, Life's End and Debriefing. Virtuous Mission and Quiet's Theme are also great, but otherwise, wholeheartedly agree! :) Life's End, Father & Son and Debriefing always hit me in the feels.
Nice picks. As for me, I'll never be able to decide which one is my number one. But I think The Best is Yet to Come and Snake Eater are both number 1. It'd be painful to choose one over the other.
damianopodobny The lyrics in Snake Eater could be inferred as either the emotions of The Boss, or Big Boss, but mainly The Boss Herself "I give my life, not for honor, but for you" is her saying something to Snake. "I'm doing this to help complete your mission." Also, "I'm still in a dream, Snake Eater." is her pleading Snake to wake her up from this dream, but in this case, she possibly see's it as a nightmare, that she is hoping to wake up from. But...Thats how I infer it.
OH. WELL DAMN. Yeah...I think Calling to the NIght MIGHT possibly be the thoughts of Soldiers on the battlefield or what Big Boss thinks goes on Like..."In the sun we see fighting over lines All our dreams and wishes we send home for safe keeping Fighting for what’s right" Could be it, but eh.
