Metal Hammer Forming With A Single Hand Tool: Cheap Fabrication Tools!

On this episode I try hammer forming 2.5mm (10g) Aluminium, It worked! The plan here is to create two ends with an even radius to weld into a rectangle shape to create an aluminuim Fuel tank. Using some scrap 25mm mdf we create a pattern, cut it out and router our edges, using the ‘Mother Tucker’ hammer designed by Karl at Make it Kustom. We shaped our edges and used the Power hammer to create a hammer formed bead. Next to create the rest of the tank! Enjoy!

Jordan that turned out great. I will try this with out the planishing hammer as I don’t have one. I made a comment on the last episode about using a brickies bolster chisel to make the X. There about 2 1/2 inches long and if you could dull the edge I think it would work. Any way I want to thank you again. Lewis loves his hoodie and getting him to school is not no where near the problem that Stacey used to have. I’ll have to get a hammer from Karl when I get a hoodie from him. What is the stuff you stick the cutoff blade into when cutting the aluminum? Great Job of shaping.. Always learning from you and karl..

hi. a bostitch palm nailer with a custom head could be used for stamping and chasing the grooves. i saw someone using it to do metal stuff. i just cant remember what forum it was on and i am not sure how much pressure it could produce
