Totally agree, Woosung is a unique singer and one of the best vocalists ever. My confession is that 'Sorry' and 'She's in the Rain' are songs that give me goosebumps and I can't help but cry a little every single time I listen to them. The emotional connection is too much. Now there is 'Red' it just makes me smile and feel energized somehow.

I love this band. This is one of my favourite songs. All 4 of them can sing. They’re amazing.

Here's my experience with this song: I had been sending my sister BTS songs I thought she might like to introduce her to them and Korean contemporary in general. Her reaction was "hmmm I think we have different taste in music. I like Lord Huron and more rock". OK, I had just listened to my first song from this new band and it had definite indie rock flavor, so I sent her She's in the Rain - happily sure she would like it. She called me sobbing. She had been standing outside, it was raining, and she listened without reading lyrics. She said "It's about Lindsay." Lindsay was her daughter who had been murdered 2 years previously. I freaked out. "No! It's a breakup song!" "No, it's a grief song!" I apologized for upsetting her but she thanked me. We eventually hung up. I listened to the song again with lyrics and broke down. There's a point "You wanna hurt yourself I'll stay with you; you wanna make yourself go through the pain; it's better to be held than holding on; no woah; we're in the rain" where I could suddenly hear the voice switch from my sister to my niece, gently telling her mom to let go. Then in the last lines it goes back to my sister - more at peace with the grief. I don't know if she has ever read the English lyrics, but she has played this at least once a day for the last year. I'm sorry if this was tedious, I wrote it fast.

Woosung has the voice of an angel, The Rose as a group is amazing. I saw them in NY in September and they had technical difficulties but went on to put on an amazing show.

I so agree with it’s better to pay money and see them live instead of buying the album, and it’s better when it’s a venue rather than a very big concert haul. I saw them live not too long ago (in a venue), and I will admit, it was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had.

I had the luck to see them live twice... And those concerts were two of the best I ever attended. You could see that all four of them enjoy doing music and performing so much, which makes me appreciate their music even more. And hell yes, Woosung's voice gives me shivers, his vocal color is beautifully unique 😍

it’s very rare for an artist to sound better live then they do on a record, woosung is one of those very few artists whose voice is magic like that. dojoon is the rhythm guitar/keyboardist. i love his voice as well, it’s a bit rougher then woosungs but it compliments the lead vocal so well that once woosung takes over it feels like a breath of fresh air. jaehyeong is the bassist who can also sing, he has a sweet voice. hajoon is the drummer. yes, dojoon (other vocalist) switches between keyboard and guitar. woosung is my bias but man, dojoon has incredible energy live. saw them in dallas and he was on 100% the whole night and plays really well with the crowd. very personable and entertaining! idk if you’ve checked out woosung’s solo work but i’d definitely suggest that next. these guys are so great. “sorry” is what first hooked me and then i fell down a rabbit hole watching their busking videos and cover songs. LOOOVE their cover of coldplay’s “yellow.” ugh. right in the feels.

I agree! They do make errors, sometimes in the middle of a performance, and they just stop and start over. But that’s live music and I love it! Every performance is also different. Love this band. And to think I just discovered them 2 weeks ago while just randomly perusing various Coachella 2024!performances. I was instantly captivated by The Rose. Been listening to their music exclusively since then.

They usually play in smaller venues, which to me is a lot more personal and emotional. Woosung, or Sammy, Released his solo debut with "FACE" but has another amazing song that you'd probably enjoy called "Lonely". As for other songs from The Rose, please listen to "Insomnia", "Sorry" or their newest song "RED"!!

First i hear him sang, I remember the cranberry sounds "when youre gone", the distinct cranberries sounds on the part he sang cuz im dying in side ... ... ... and rain rain rain love that part! Thats when i fall inlove on his voice.

I literally just found these guys yesterday because I saw a clip of them on twitter singing ILYSB live and I had to find the whole video because the clip alone blew me away, they sound so amazing I don't know how anyone could sound so good live.

Yes, Doojoon switches between guitar and keyboard! I don't know if you can do reactions to them but Woosung appeared on a show called "Superband" and there are some really great covers on it. And you can really see how much he loves performing and he has so much fun on the show! Also, the sad story behind the MV is very unfortunate. It doesn't sound like the band knew where the pictures were from...but Jonghyun the artist who passed away it seriously (along with Woosung) one of the craziest/best vocals in kpop. He was part of Shinee but also had an extremely successful solo career. I would highly suggest watching him perform "Y, ¿Si Fuera Ella?" It's a live performance and it's insane how well he can perform. Also, "She Is" for fun/unique vocals...I really enjoy the radio performances of this one.

If you love Woosung's voice you should check out his solo FACE, I absolutely love it! But also more reactions to live performances from The Rose because they're so freaking great and like you said, I love the lives even more than the studio versions bc they feel more alive. I really like this live they did of Take Me Down, in the same venue as this one I think. It's on the KBS channel :D

im so glad you could listen to more of The Rose. :) Some of my favorite songs of theirs are “Strangers”, “insomnia”, and “i dont know you”. Itd be super nice if youd listen to them, regardless if you upload a video reacting to them. Woosung appears in a show called Superband, and i really think that youd like it. Theres no subs but you could look at the performances.... some of the videos on youtube got privated/taken down, but Superband has so many talented people in it.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen Woosung covering Sign of The Times, but it sounds like opening heaven’s doors

As a heads up most Korean music acts always sing/play live. There will often be a backing track, especially for idol groups that have a lot of choreography. Also a few artists out there focus on the performance portion more than the singing and the backing track is turned way up, but even they will sing and ad lib over the top.

They really reminded me of Coldplay too (esp their recent song Red), I think that’s why I like them! I recommend you listen to their cover of ILYSB and their original song I.L.Y (one of my favorites). The vocals blew me away on those two songs. I think you’ll love them.

When you said no one can sing like Woosung, I immediately thought of the video where there were a few artists trying to sing like him. It's called Kim Woosung Impersonation Battle.

They composed every song in only 10 days and it’s literally a masterpiece

Woosung's voice is like those sweet rare honey on a cold night. that's how i picture his voice, the vulnerability in his voice wows me. I watched them live and I'm telling you, THEY'RE A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER than live videos and studio versions. They're sooo good that when I listened to their songs on my playlist after the concert, it didn't do justice. I missed them. If only I could listen to them live forever...

First The Rose is so completely underrated and stylistically refreshing within the Korean music scene. Love. Second, I am so sure you already have a zillion recommendations, but I think you would really love the new Younha/RM collab "Winter Flower." It's got that rock/power ballad feel, and Younha's voice is stunning. So there... one more rec to toss up on the heap you've got.

I'm a huge Bts fan and I haven't felt the way I feel with them with any other group but when I started listening to The Rose I just felt that feeling. What happened was that J&Star (the roses company) partnered up with Beat Logic to create the MV Best Logic thought that the usage of the pictures from Jonghyun’s Instagram would fit the meaning of the song in someway and J&Star and The Rose didn’t realize that the props were from his Instagram And when they did because of fans calling them out they took the video down and apologized to SM and Jonghyun’s fans and family They have a full apology that you can read if you want
