IU is so beautiful, both inside and out. I'm not sure what people have told you about her already, but she grew up in poverty. Since she has become successful, she has donated so much to those in need. She is quite extraordinary. And to think she auditioned ~20 times and every single one overlooked her before a label finally took a chance on her. She is beloved by Korea, and that is a gross understatement. It was nice to hear your thoughts and insights on her performance and skill. The tidbits you add from your own background and thoughts always make your reactions enjoyable.
Thank you! I am glad I can add something! Yeah I had heard she had grown up in poverty and had some problems with a family member? That's about all I've been able to kinda put together
That is about all I know as well, but maybe that is for the best. What she has done since starting her career is what is most impressive, her background just adds another layer to it. If you even want IU x SHINee content, SHINee appeared on "IU's Palette" a few years ago and they both covered one another's songs. SHINee sang IU's "Dear Name," and IU sang SHINee's "Sherlock" in her own style. Both a great covers. @@Killdeer25
Queen is what IU being called and she really is a queen! IU is referred to several other names such as a music chart killer, an angel without the wings, etc. she is loved by the nation!
She was suffering from ear problems she was in pain and couldn’t even hear. And u r right this song is about her life journey from debut her teenage years.
If you watch the video with accompanying lyrics, you can better appreciate how IU cleverly utilizes variations in her tone and vocal nuances to interpret the songs. Additionally, the arrangement of songs in the LILAC album is also very cleverly done. If you examine the lyrics, you will discover that the content of 'My Sea' and 'Ah Puh' is related, with 'Ah Puh' being an extension of 'My Sea'.
This concert was like a musical movie. It was legendary. And it will be remembered in k-pop history for a long time. She is suffering from a ear disease and IU is IU to challenge this she extended her high note by 2 seconds maybe. As you already read this song is her life journey. She is strong, she is brave, she is queen as a girl should be. She brought 90k people for a 2 day concert.
if you have a chance, you should check out Eight from this concert on her official channel, it was the opening song of the night! Also, there's clips online from her singing strawberry moon here too, it was an amazing surprise performance for the fans 😁
I'll tell you another fact to make you even more amazed... My sea hard Exactly 5:16 which is her date of birth... This woman is impressive... It's time for the world to revel in his art. Best regards ❤
If you have a chance to watch the entire concert of The Golden Hour, the intermission videos kind of tell the story of My Sea. The arrangement of the songs is actually so good because My Sea is the last song of the main set before the encore and the wave effect as the lights slowly roll over the stadium when she walks out towards the audience in the dark at the end is depicting her becoming the wave.
actually, that long high notes is LONGER than original track XD its like 1.5 second longer maybe. Also, note that she's not in her best condition that day (ear condition) and this song is on encore part, means she already performed almost 2 hour before this ...
Thanks for this video. I would like to say about that long note, is that build up is not easy, I mean not that she is coming from a big pause or something, she begins building up for a good time before ending with that long note. An the lyrics she wrote are just beautiful she has written great songs, love poem, eight, my sea in the more mature music, but also whimsically too, like hold my hand, Blueming oh boy she has composed a lot of songs, I.ve counted around 80
Well said! I absolutely agree, and from what I hear she was also sick when she did this so even more incredible yet she did it without being able to basically hear on top of everything, so its just incredible
@@Killdeer25 Indeed she has an Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, which affected her that weekend, particularly the 2nd night. That disorder can be liked (though not the same thing) to having your ears clogged, you hear your voice loudly and even your breath bothers you. I add a translated quote from her "I actually have a bit of a problem with my ears, so I was nervous and prepared for this performance. It's not serious, but there was a situation where I couldn't control my ears well over a year ago. Since the end of yesterday's performance, my ears have gotten a little worse, So I think I had a little hellish day while rehearsing last night and today." and she added "I barely heard you today, but I felt like they were cheering for me and congratulating me on my 14th anniversary."
I don't know if you know this about IU. She has developed an issue with her left ear. I don't recall the name of the condition or disease but what happens is that the tube going from her inner ear to her throat is not closing. At time it can be painful and she can't hear her own voice. I was reminded of it watching this video and seeing she had taken her left ear piece out. Something she has been doing quite often since 2021. I know they have tried different things different types of ear pieces etc. It was bothering her a lot going into her 2nd day and she was concerned if she would be able to complete the concert and she talked about it to her audience. I do believe that this performance was from the 2nd day, but I maybe wrong about that. Her dress and what she wears is also an interesting aspect of IU. It was something I noticed early on. In her concerts and MV she is not self overt sexuality. When you see IU perform and then see other young kpop female groups and American and UK female singers ut is quite a contrast. For example, I have NEVER understood why Taylor Swift wears what is essentially a 1 piece bathing suit putting her body of display. She is not alone. But to me it looks trashy and I wonder what it is they are trying to distract people from. But I guess I am in the minority on this. Although IU is my proof of concept that you when you have the voice, the talent, the stage presence, the essence and confidence in what you are and what you capable of you can succeed with style and class without the spectacle. FYI: You can tell during any IU performance from her 10th anniversary forward, of even she is in her encore. For she changes into her street clothes (what she wore to the concert that day).
I discovered the thing about the ear in a documentary I saw a while ago. My theory is that it has been going on longer than most realise. The reason I believe this is because she's choosen to develop her voice in a direction I found a bit strange, but that kind of problem would explain it.
I totally agree, she is quite a special person, I like that about KPop is even if there is some sexualization it's not to the point that it is here in the west, there some really bad
Not sure what to say about it that hasn't been said, it's an incredible song! (and an equally incredible dress!) Also I definitely also have gotten a hint of Disney princess vibes at times, I think maybe The Little Mermaid and not just because of the sea theme 😅
