IU dances to her own beat and makes music that moves her rather than chasing what popular in the moment. I love that IU doesn’t box herself in a box to a certain genre. I don’t like listening to same type of music by many artists when they feel like they can money that way. You can fully appreciate once you know who IU is, then you can appreciate her talent. Good listening!
IU is unique because of that... Because it brings rhythms that no one would dare to do again so as not to lose popularity. He likes everything old. Their sounds are unique. She also teaches the youngest about rhythms that they would never hear without her. This is his darkest song. Best regards
She is music noir defined in Korea, with jazz stylings, broadway musical sounds and lounge music that comes from an era past. And she obviously doesn’t care that it isn’t all hit material. Epilogue” from Lilac Album is a relatively short song, and shorter in MV, but her background vocals (which she did do) are a trip… you figure the decade- 20s,30s ???
Yess, when I listened to this I imagined an era very long ago, a song sung in a dark smoky lounge. Another song by IU that gives a similar feeling is Epilogue.
It's funny, I was about to say "the sound is so different, I wouldn't even really call this pop music, and also it sounds kinda.... French?" And then the first thing you said was calling it "noir" 😂 Which I know isn't the same as French, but yeah no that is also a good description. For some reason I never had that exact association but I feel like that was also because when I first heard the song I was listening to the album with spring or summer in mind like some of the photos in the album, like IU in a garden of flowers. But maybe it was because of that context that I also felt something uncanny about the song, so I think the visuals I get when listening to it are more of a summer day but one where the sun is uncomfortably bright and kind of pale, maybe in a sad or tragic movie or something. I don't know if any of that makes sense haha 😅 But when you see it performed in the dark like this I totally hear the noir film lounge sound you’re talking about!
haha! ohh my poor brain, it goes a million miles per hour sometimes, I think a lot of times the visual is how I will see some songs for the rest of time.
