Have to throw one more stroke in for you man - it's great to hear someone critique music that understands what they're listening to! You do Jinjer a great compliment, because as much as people love this band, I don't think a lot of those listeners can grasp what is really going on inside Jinjer's music. Well done!

This song is 7 Nicks out of 5. That heavy blast fit exactly PERFECTLY for the theme of the song. It helped helped tell the story. It got blast beat heavy at exactly the time magic of the potion took hold. It was the chaos of the moment he was in. That moment he realized he was fucked.

Metal has become SO predictable, stale, and, boring. Then, there's Jinjer. They're not afraid to sound different, to experiment, and, to combine new, unexpected influences. They're the first band since Mastodon that's rekindled my interest in metal. Super stoked to see them for the first time October 1!

Saw Toothgrinder open for Killswitch in 2016 and was blown away. If Killswitch wasn’t there, they would have stolen the show. That being said, their only good album was the first. When they were heavy. Now it’s fucking Imagine Dragons with some shit vocals. Completely disappointed with that band now and it breaks my heart. They had all the potential to make it huge and threw it away trying to sell out and failing 🤷‍♂️

You can tell that the band were influenced by a lot of bands that were doing the rounds back in the late 90''s/early 00's as there was a lot of genre mixing back then that never really went mainstream. Dubwar/Skindred are the obvious ones, but Deftones used to fuck with reggae in their early days as well. I was a big Meshuggah fan for years but the whole djent explosion really left me cold as it all became incredibly contrived really quickly. Jinjer drew me back in, I've not heard anyone do it so well for a long time.
