I saw Motorhead live loads of times in the late '70's early '80's. When I worked/lived in London in the '90's I used to run into Lemmy a lot. Lemmy bought me a pint once after watching me throw up in the bog of some club. Lemmy: " Christ, son, do you want a beer"? Me:" Cheers, dude. That would be great". When I came out of the bog there was a pint waiting for me at the bar, from Lemmy. He really was a cool bloke.

I stumbled onto you by complete accident, and glad I did. Seeing a guy of your age (younger than I) with such passion for the things I got my ass kicked for listening to in school....and recognizing the talent and impact of these artists gives me great pleasure and hope for future generations. The 20-35 crowd has really missed out as far as music is concerned, with emphasis on "rock/metal". So much over-processed/auto tune pitch perfect bullshit and tripe. Frankly most bands on "modern metal" radio sound exactly alike...I find myself "tuning out" and throwing the cd or vinyl on more often than not. Keep it up man, I watched all the episodes in one night over the weekend!! P.S. If you are ever in my neck o' the woods stop in and play some Battletech! Take care man, your Bro' in O-HI-O.

Bad Magic is an amazing album. "Till the End" blew me away. Many great songs: "Victory or Die", "Thunder and Lightning", "Fire Storm Hotel", "Electricity".... man, the list just goes on. The lyrics across the whole thing stand out so strongly, especially now, on the other side of Lemmy finally being Killed by Death. They are like a summation statement of his life and his approach to it: I am what I am, I had a lot of fun, I raised a lot of hell, I did some bad things, but I stuck to my guns and stood my ground and was true to myself, and I am proud. It stands as advice for us all.

I saw Motörhead at Hammersmith Odeon on the Ace of Spades tour as a snotty nosed 16 year old. I used to get really terrible migraines, & i felt one coming on as I was lining up to get in. Once in it got so bad i was crawled up in a ball & puking up between the stalls, all the way through the opening act (Saxon?)...I was raised from my makeshift sickbed by Lemmy's thundering, catastrophically loud Rickenbacker bass...So loud were they that they cleared my head of all the pain, & i have never had a non alcohol related headache since. Metallicas sound is a combination of Diamond Head and Motorhead. The Early Metallica is quite a great talent and effort, yet something always irked me about Hetfields voice and stage presence. I like Nuclear Assault Anthrax Overkill, Megadeth Testament you name it, i like it. Slayer etc etc. But no matter how you slice it, Metallica have always been the fakes. I've adamantly hated them since i was little. I thought Hetfields voice sounded like a bad country singer trying to get rough over some metal. The production is clean yet raw and in your face. “Ace Of Spade” is a masterpiece of course, but I enjoy the production on “Iron Fist” far more. Yeah for sure, they developed their sound overtime; started as a blues three piece, into hard rock and eventually heavy metal in 80's, but just because all of them could play their instruments doesn't make them prog rock. That being said, Robbo is a bit big headed. But not in the typical prog snob/hipster/elitest way, he's just a bit stubborn. Too big for his boots at times. A damn fine Metal Mythos and a pleasure to watch again. One of my first thoughts upon hearing about the unfortunate news of Lemmy's passing, was what Razorfist would do as a tribute. Thanks for taking the time and effort to create these videos. And god-FUCKING-speed, Lemmy!

original line up with phil, eddie and lemmy was fuckin' amazing bro. i've forgotten how awesome motorhead truly was like 20 years later. underrated as shit. especially those songs with phil's double drumming. even later stuff like born to lose off of the world is yours. i dig it.

I was heartbroken when I heard that Lemmy died. Motorhead and Black Sabbath are the almost perfect prodigies that paved the road for bands like Pantera, Black Label Society, and other badass metal bands. I hope that Lemmy, Dio, and Dimebag are making the best track to ever be made in hell. Rock in Peace \m/

Thanks for this! Another great Metal Mythos. I remember being in high school, learning guitar and discovering NWOBHM in 79/80. Me and couple friends would find the first Def Leppard album, Saxon , MSG, Maiden. One day a friend brings "THE HEAVIEST band ever"...and I borrow his copy of NO SLEEP TILL HAMMERSMITH...the fastest , dirtiest band ever. Finally got to see them while stationed in German in 87. Front row in from of Lemmy. A small rec. center. On a bill with King Diamond and Destruction opening. MY ears rang for about 3 days.. Loudest metal concert ever.

Lemmy was not just a great musician, he was also really witty. You can tell by his lyrics and his jokes onstage and offstage. He could've made a fine comedian if he didn't find music. His inclination to get people to laugh whenever he could cements him as a good bloke who just wanted to have a good time, and who'd take you along for the ride if you wanted to. He beat the odds, lived life according to his beliefs and did so with honesty. There will never be another one like him, and I'm grateful we got to witness his genius.

Your videos are beyond great brother. I'll soon be 47, yet they always take me back to a time when I was discovering metal at 12 or 13 years old. Thanks so much for the obviously monumental effort it takes to do 1hr plus episodes packed with this much information.

Hi Razorfist, just wanted to say that I'm a really big fan of yours and I really do appreciate all of these Metal Mythos videos you do. I don't really listen to Metal, but it makes me want to and you always make these videos so hilarious and interesting and I learn a lot from them. Watching these videos gives me such great respect for Metal and you tell the stories of the bands so passionately and like a real storyteller which I always look forward to in these videos. Anyway, just wanted to let you know all that. I appreciate all that you offer on your channel and as you, the Great and Mighty Razorfist always says: GOD-FUCKING-SPEED!!!

I finally understood the big deal with Motorhead when the Snake Bite Love album came out, and have been a fan ever since. I think it was just an age thing for me. I was blessed to see them on the Hammered tour for my first time, the next time I saw them was an abbreviated show where they were in the mid support slot sandwiched between Dio and Iron Maiden in 2003. It got cut short because Mikkey Dee had the flu, that beast still hit the skins harder than fuck.

I'm an incredibly late bloomer, just discovering this amazing band in my early 40s. Not sure why I never took the time to listen to them growing up in the late '80s and throughout the '90s to the end. Like with Black Sabbath and Dio, it's a band that had constant lineup changes, but no real bad albums. Safe to say this vid was what got me to purchase the entire discography. Money well spent IMO. Great music that brings a smile to my face everytime a track comes up. Thanks Razorfist for this wildly educational and entertaining look on Motorhead. I've also enjoyed the one you did for Black Sabbath. Is a Dio (The Band) one in the works ? I would love to hear your opinion specifically on Lock Up The Wolves, Strange Highways and Angry Machines, 3 albums that often get unfairly ignored. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

thank you for shaming me into finally giving the motorhead catalog a proper exploration, which has seen me buy 11 albums in a week. Sad I didn't do this while Lemmy was still with us, but what a treat to take in this much rock and roll excellence all at once. got to see them once, opening for dio and maiden. especially with 2/3 of that bill having shuffled off this mortal coil, i will be forever grateful.

I’ve gotta say that I absolutely _adore_ the first Motörhead album; there’s something about the frantic energy of it that really pushes my buttons. Overkill will always be my favourite, followed closely by Another Perfect Day, which is not so much an overlooked gem of a record, as it is the Koh-in-Noor diamond of overlooked records.
