Sheena Ringo, the original artist who first sang this back in 2000, is one of Ado's biggest inspirations and favorite artists, so she definitely sang her lungs out on this one

If I had a voice like Ado I'd never shut up, ever, I mean ever, probably not in a million years, but even then I'd find a way to keep singing, who knows maybe a million years, maybe a billion, WHO KNOWS I JUST NEVER WANT TO STOP HEARING THIS VOICE. The way her vocals entered just at the beginning, my soul resonated SOOO hard with that, pure bliss and shock for 4 mins and 50 seconds.

The fact that really amazes me most is that this compositional masterpiece has already turned 23 years old. Sheena Ringo composed Tsumi To Batsu in January 2000. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I discovered it by chance while following Tokyo Jihen, Ringo's current band. Ado does a wonderful rendition here, perfectly up to the original. Thank you!

I still remember that very moment i first heard Shiina Ringo's song on the radio while waiting in the car when my mom went for groceries. It was Yokoshitsu. I went to a CD store next day, bought the Shoso Strip album with all the money I had, it was the second CD I ever owned. I was around 15 yrs old. Been a fan ever since

Ado has been the only artist I have ever actively looked up reaction videos for. And the reason for that is because of exactly what you mentioned. You can't exactly categorize her music. I have seen reaction/analysis videos from operatic vocal coaches, rappers, pop singers, metal-heads, the list goes on and every one of them are able to point out a new element of her singing that I didn't initially recognize as a technique she was using. It truly amazes me.

100% same for me. Almost every song I watched at least 5-10 reactions for it xD But what it made me want to ask ado is, if her intentions is for her songs to always give you something new. I sometimes just let 1 song repeat for days and I’ll always find something new to appreciate.

Yep! My favorit Ado song as well. It's such an emotional roller coaster because she puts EVERYTHING into this song without overdoing any of it. Just amazing!

Only two of Ado's live performances are available on RU-vid: "odo" and "New genesisu". Concert videos of the other songs are available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Have you heard Ado’s Aishite Aishite Aishite yet? I’ve been listening through her Apple Music for awhile, and now her top songs changed recently, Usseewa and Odo is not Top 2 anymore but now it’s between Show, New Genesis and Aishite Aishite Aishite! I think she sang these songs from her recent concert from her newer album, and her voice improved so much. I’m so proud of her! I love the distortion from her voice goes so deep to softness in such a fast transitioning. It has became my new favorite song from her, along with Value ❤

This is her LIVE concert at Nippon Budokan last year. You can listen to Sho (唱)in Live. You did impression before. If I find her live Crime and punishment, I will let you know as well. You should totally listen to the original. As far as covers goes I don't think this is a very good one because it's quite close to the original and when it diverts a bit from it vocally it misses the emotional mark (at least for me knowing Shiina's version so well. The blunt honesty that woman has in her voice is really hard to match). Shiina Ringo's music is a mix of Rock, Jazz and Pop.

Ado’s still young. She has plenty of room to improve the emotional aspect, since one would need more life experience to understand it better. You can’t argue she’s got a very strong grasp from a technical standpoint though.

@@BvLee Ou, absolutely! She has a great voice and technique. For me it's not always placed right in the song but like I said that's probably just because I'm so accustomed to the original. It's not a critique to her abilities as a vocalist. I think my comment also stemmed from a bit of a recurring disappointment in seeing so many of my favourite musicians being covered by young ones nowadays - which is absolutely amazing! - but then reacted to without having the comparison? Artists like Ado and Nemophila for example who get so many views from covers but so few people actually check out the original bands. It's not that I don't like the young ones as well, it's more that I wish the old ones would get a bit more exposure outside Japan, too. I think that's it. A bit dumb and personal but I couldn't help it ;)
