Interesting facts about Matt: the first concert he attended as a youngster was Pentatonix. When he auditioned to replace Avi, he had already memorized the bass for all their songs, which was a lot by 2018!
It’s a personal reference when it comes to music. Disturbed is great, but his version is not my type of music. I love this masterpiece of Pentatonix. It’s so soothing to hear. I can listen to Pentatonix over and over again.
Personally, I don't agree Disturbed was angry. I think more it was troubled, fearful even. I think the Pentatonix version is clever, amazing harmonies, but a bit too busy.
I agree,he DOES have a kind hearted spirit which is one reason I enjoy his reactions.🙂also,I love watching him light up whenever he hears something he really likes that's new to him!!😊🎶✌
I agree with your grandmother - I am 63, so I can relate to her being so proud of you. I can tell that you are a beautiful soul & you have many admirable qualities - as an intuitive person I know that you are kind and thoughtful & I can see how much music moves you. I am looking forward to many more Ptx reactions (+ Voiceplay & Home Free ). It brings me pure joy to see you falling in love with Pentatonix! Btw, Kevin is my favorite. He has his own solo channel (as the other members do as well) where you can really see how multi-talented he is! And just so you know, Scott just put out his 1st solo cd! It's called Parallel & all the songs on it are stunning!!! There are official videos for Parallel, Mars & Four if you want to check them out. My fav song on the album is King Kong. There's no video for it, but it is sooo worth listening to!! All of their solo projects are unbelievably amazing, & the way they support each other is heartwarming. They truly all love each other like a family. They are all humble & kind people. Well, that's why I'm a Pentaholic! 😉 See ya next time! God bless!!
It's always Mitch's diction for me... you can always understand every single word he sings... Love PTX... they're just so talented... and they're really nice people on top of everything... I've followed them since The Sing Off and they are just so hard working - to think that now Kirstie is a mum... Kevin is a dad... Matt is married and so is Scott ! Mitch will do things his own way in his own time just like he always has haha.....It's like the babies have all grown up !!!
This is one of my "Pentatonics" personal favorites. I agree that Matt's solo in this was outstanding. His ability as a bass is incredible, but his upper register is equally beautiful. Thank you for another great reaction!
I'm sure you've heard Scott sing that low before, you just didn't know it. Whenever Matt, or Avi in the past, sings lead - it's Scott on the bass. Perfect example would be the 2nd verse of Hallelujah.
I’m so glad you listened to their version of this classic. They made it their own for sure. They have such beautiful arrangements! They did look very elegant also. Loved it! Thank you
They are incredible! I'll be Simon and Garfunkel never expected to hear their song performed like this! My granddaughter introduced me to this group a few years ago...we love sharing our music, lol!
For me, the best thing about Scott's opening verse is how he puts the vocal emphasis on the last consonant in the word at the end of each line. To try to express it in writing, he sings friennnnnd instead of frieeeeend, and againnnnn instead of agaiiiiiin. It changes the entire feel of the music and is contrary to how a lot of people are taught how to sing but is clearly done very deliberately. Love it.
Wanted to say that it may not be how soloists are taught to sing, but it IS how choirs are taught to sing. Their diction makes a whole lot of sense from that perspective and as a choir kid it’s one of the reasons I love listening to them so much; it sounds comfortable to me.
Scott has unbelievable range and he does always take over the bass line when Avi (and now Matt) have their solos. Listen to him here when Matt is singing. Then listen to him on Problem or on their new song I Rise where he goes as high as Mitch. It's incredible. This is such a beautiful arrangement and I love their 'bell tones' - they suit the vibe of the song perfectly. Kirstie's very tight vibrato is amazing in this too. And Mitch, well I will always be a huge Mitch stan! This is more subdued for him but his voice is still always so piercing and beautiful. It's stunning that they can just sing in a line in a empty garage/warehouse and have such impact.
Thanks to this wonderful performance, I got to know Pentatonix few years ago and immediately fell down the rabbit hole. My attention was especially drawn to Mitch, who with his way of singing, emphasizing the words, told a story that I saw right away and his crystal clear voice made me dig deeper and that's how I discovered Superfruit.
I think I hear some references to the Disturbed version, particularly the famous version David Draiman did on Conan, which I think was the year before this Pentatonix cover. And, as someone who grew up with Simon and Garfunkel, the bell tones in between the verses sound to me like that ringing guitar accompaniment on their original.
John, I feel like I have come full circle, I started watching your channel because of Pentatonix, then you started reacting to Dimash and I was in heaven with that, and tonight I am watching your Pentatonix reaction ❤.
You need headphones!! Our lead is actually a baritone, and he can do a slight tenor and also some bass. They all mix together, so amazingly that you must put headphones on to hear what you miss! Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole, my friend.!🎉
Scott's range starts somewhere in the middle of a normal bass range and extends upward through a normal tenor range. When the bass (either Avi or now Matt) solos, Scott takes over the bass harmony line.
Thanks to S&G for writing and recording this classic over 50 years ago, allowing PTX, Disturbed and others to re-interpret the impact of the lyrics over time......to me a capella harmonies are the purest form of musical expression.........
I love this song. I get chills when I hear Pentatonix sing it. Fun Fact: The song was originally released in 1964 by a young duo called Simon and Garfunkel. It was written by Paul Simon. The acoustic song didn’t get a lot of play and the group decided to break up for a bit. But the producer of the song found out that a few radio stations were playing the song. So to get even more interest, the producer added drums and electric guitars and the rest is history. A song even more relevant today.
Great reaction to this classic. Not sure if you've reacted to Imagine by PTX, but you should...you really should. You were wishing to hear Kevin sing and he does in Imagine. Also...it needs to be the official video, since there's something special they do that isn't possible in a live version.
They do an amazing cover of this song. Love the sounds of harmony from them. I would love to hear you react to Geoff Castellucci's cover of the song as well. He is the Bass from VoicePlay and has his own channel here on RU-vid. Great Reaction!
If you’d like to see/hear some really incredible vocal gymnastics, you should check out their cover of Kiiara’s “Gold”. It’s the original 5, sitting on a couch with one mike each, and it’s amazing.
You will see that a lot of times where they take turns with sing the lead between vocals that when the bass takes lead (Avi or Matt) Scott is the one that takes over on the bass. Scott’s range is so vast.
great reaction. These days I don't go looking for reactions other than to Ren... but absolutely love when I find that you've done one for Pentatonix. they killed this one!
Could you please find time to react to "Kevin's Show, Kevin's Fifth"? It doesn't showcase his beautiful tenor, but highlights his other musical ability.
The build in this one is crazy good. 🔥 PTX are def stellar with their covers. They really take you on a journey. Helluva ride! SO.... I’d LOVE to see you react to the artist, Corvyx. SOON. Especially his cover of My Heart Will Go On. Breathtaking.
They smash this song out the park. One of my favorite versions. I absolutely love Tom balls version so much aswell. Would definitely recommend watching that one.
John Reeves! Love your reactions. Been watching for you. So happy you have another reaction. Your heart is so real and I love you for it. Thank you. Please continue to react to PTX. Hope to see you soon! God Bless!
Please react to "Amazing Grace", if you want to hear a group of ANGELS singing. Thanks for ALL of your Great reactions, and have a nice rest of your week.....
Please react to "The Prayer" It would be so wonderful to see your caliber of expertise and style react to their beautiful version. It was my introduction to them a few months ago. I was so blown away, much more so than Id been for many many years. All of their covers are an upgrade. TY
I'm not really a negative person. But as a degreed individual with a musical background, most music reactors on RU-vid suck to me. You my friend - are good. You say stuff that makes sense and you trim the fat. I appreciate it. You got a new subscriber here.
Oh, you just have to listen to their cover of Gold, it is done live and I think you can have a lot of things to pull apart/talk about😊 It is a cover that you have to know the origonal to understand what Mitch is oulling off 😂❤😂❤
this is a great rendition. Also love Disturbed and the orig. I'd like to point you at another acapella group Voiceplay, they also have a version of this (and other covers) Amazing arrangements and singing. Or as it's Oct when I post this, a great Halloween one from them is Oogie Boogie's song. I think you will enjoy this acapella group as well. And their base Geoff Castelloni is AMAZING his lows are mind blowing
In addition to being the newest member of Pentatonix, Matt is also the youngest member, and I've been informed that bass voices improve with age. This was recorded 4 years ago and doesn't give an accurate idea of Matt's current range. I see that you've reacted to both the official video of "Hallelujah" and a live performance, but Avi was still the bass in both of those. Matt's arrangement of the second verse of "Hallelujah" is totally different from Avi's arrangement, and seems to have been designed to let Matt show off his full range. So if you want to know what Matt is currently capable of, I recommend listening to a live feed of "Hallelujah" from their recent world tour. You can find one here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ASYzLoi810k.html
10 days ago I discovered your channel. I love that you love Pentatonix. Listen have you ever seen a guitar rift from Alejandro Aranda and his piano playing. Please check it out. GREETINGS FROM SOUTH AFRICA
Here is a great link for the live version of this song. The quality is much better than the Bohemian Rhapsody one so this should lend a better ear to hear the best parts of this song that your looking for. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GKhAyNV07Lw.htmlsi=CFVqr2Xc_m-y0wD0
Hi! Please react the video of 「Candy Kiss」 by TravisJapan🐯🍭💋 They can dance in a variety of genres and everything is highly complete! I highly recommend checking out some of their videos on RU-vid❤
The English language has so many dipthongs, and many poor singers sing them. Pentatonix isn't one of them. They sing properly on the Italian vowels. Listen closely and you'll see. 😊
