Metal Vocalist First Time Reaction - Song So Hee - Spring Day ( BTS Cover ) 

If BTS' Spring Day sang about the sadness of losing a friend, it sounds like she sang about the sadness of a parent who lost a child. The yellow ribbons and yellow flowers on the stage, the sea background and the lyrics changed to "My everything, my world" sounded like the cry of a parent who lost their child in a Ferry Sewol tragedy, so my heart ached throughout the song.

There's a clip of her holding a note for ages. It blew my mind. She is a traditional Korean MinYo Singer. She is unmatched in her genre. She sang the Korean Traditional songs for UNESCO World Heritage.

Song So Hee is amaaaazing. She is so talented. She is a traditional singer and she did amazing with Spring Day.

The guy in beige they show a couple times is actually PDogg. This show was all bts covers of songs PDogg had a hand in. All of the covers on the show were amazing.

So glad you checked her out. Song So Hee is truly one of the best singers out there. Can never see a performance by her and not have tears in my eyes.

Her rendition was amazing, her idea to incorporate child chorus (when you associate it with the Sewol ferry tragety behind the lyrics) and her pansori background, made the song devastatingly beautiful as it should be. Make sure you don't miss her "Tearful Tumen River" rendition. She is one of the brightest Korean creative gems.

"crying through singing" is a very apt description. traditional korean folk as well as pansori is known for being very raw and HIGHLY emotional bc it's purposely not polished sounding (even though the technique is INCREDIBLY exact). Many people say when you hear a minyeo or pansori singer you hear the pain of generations of koreans. Historically that really raw gravely sound was achieved by having singers go up in the mountains and basically scream their voices out until their vocal chords got damaged, then let it heal over, then repeat over and over. Basically the end result is this type of vocal sound that just explodes out of the body without much air and the the vocal range expands like crazy. Obviously these days they don't do that to that extreme and there are better exercises and techniques to achieve that sound without the pain. A little background on her, she was discovered when she won one of the main network talent tv shows when she was 11. She was known as a minyeo prodigy (her nickname across korea is traditional music girl) that later (i think she's like 26ish now?) she incorporated the traditional TECHNIQUES into modern songs. She has a Killing Voice as well

The beautiful singer Song Sohee. Is singing about the Ferry Disaster in which was mostly school children all lost their lives. What even worse was the children were told to stay in their cabin. So very sad. This singer does this song justice.

민요나 판소리는 서구권 문화에서 보는 오페라나 성악같은 것이라 이야기꾼이기도 함. 판소리도 짧은건 1시간 긴건 6시간도 함. 혼자서 몇사람들의 역할을 맡아서 요즘으로 치면 랩도 하고 노래도 하고 울기도 웃기도 웃기기도 하면서 희 노 애 락을 표현하는.. 송소희가 한 프로그램에 나와 이런 이야기도 함. 민요나 판소리는 우리가 국악이라 부르는건 서구권에서 말하는 클레식이라 정답은 정해져 있어서 기술을 익히는데 아주 오래 걸린다고. 우리나라의 클레식임.

Compared to BTS original this is far far better. BTS can not sing, can not perform. They have no stile, it is all superficial performance. I was surprised how bad they actually are. Song So Hee on the other hand has style and class. Her voice is perfect for the song, and the arrangement is far far beyond anything, BTS could ever perform. Her voice is distinct, I would not fail to identify it among a million other voices! Musically, the performance is up there in the same class: the musicians manage to bring the message of the lyrics in the forefront. Even the back-up singers do a great job to put her voice in the front exactly in the right way. The song itself is rather simple but Song So Hee manages to change it into true art thanks to her performance. The number of singers who can do that I can count on one hand, and half of them are from South Korea. There are many great singers out there, but she is in a class of her own. If I was BTS, I would close down. You can appeal to the mediocre taste, but you have no class comparable to this. If I had the money, I would put up a statue in an Korean city park and a bench, and if you sit on it, you could hear and enjoy her voice for free. Then I would declare it a Korean cultural heritage! Feel free to use my idea, if you are better off than me.

I can appreciate her interpretation, her style.. For a while, but all of it it stood much for me. I don't like "cry" singing. Not Spanish, not napolitano, aperantly not Korean.. Even if I like the song, appreciate her quality... Don't like the style
