This song also has some of the funniest ghost lyrics such as: “And I am the son who comes into the daughters of men, destroying all and make them want it again” And “However fair and pure, you crave the wand”
Some people expected the follow-up to Opus to be more heavy, more "evil", but Tobias had different ideas - he really stretched out, and expanded the Ghost sound, with more choirs, background vocals, organs, etc.. The songs are mesmerizing (instead of pummelling), and that turned some people off. One of the most impressive things about Ghost is how strong their catalog is, and how people have different favorites.
Opus Eponymous - Emeritus I Infestissumam - Emeritus II Meliora - Emeritus III Prequelle - Cardinal Copia Seven inches of satanic panic - Papa Nihil Impera - Emeritus IV
More GHOST ! Ghost is the most entertaining rock music out there. And don't miss the acoustic versions too. The GHOST ritual is the most uplifting event in rock and roll live shows , not to be missed.
Hell yeah, you’re gonna love Monstrance Clock! I’ve seen some folks say you should check out the acoustic version of this one and I agree, it’s rad. No kazoo, but still rad lol
I do recommend checking out the acoustic version of this on your own. I got to hear the acoustic version live in 2018 and it was great. He lead into it with, "We're going to take it down now, we're going to go down. We're going to go down on you now!" There's a studio acoustic and that's definitely what I would recommend. I take the whole joke thing as he doesn't like Ghost and he's being facetious (I would like to be wrong, that's just how I take it). If that's the case, there's a lot of people who just don't like Ghost, and that's fine. As far as the Papa's, Papa I is Opus Eponymous, Papa II is Infestissumam, Papa III is Meliora, Cardinal Copia is Prequelle, and Papa IV is Impera.
the goblin crab walk part is literally hilarious😂i can't get over that LMAO but it's so great to see how much you're enjoying listening to the band and i've been looking forward to these reactions!! the first three albums correspond to their own papas, album 1:papa I...etc. only switch up is album 4 is not papa IV, but album 5 is. just some stuff with the lore that i think is pretty fun and you should definitely check out too! can't wait to see more :)) my second fav off this album is Monstrance Clock
I was glad to see others recommend the acoustic version. It's a stunning example of just how talented this guy really is. I don't know if there are other acoustic versions out there, but the one I'm speaking of is from hard drive online. You NEED to watch it 😀
Jigolo is a term for a male prostitute and Megiddo is a place in Greece, more commonly known as "Armageddon", which the ancient greeks believed to be the place where the apocalypse will happen. So the title "Jigolo Har Megiddo" roughly translates to "The male whore of the apocalypse"
Har Megiddo is the source to the expression Armageddon. According to the Bible that's the place where the final battle between good and evil would occur. There was a big battle there between the old egyptians and the israelis. But we are here still. Maybe the gigolo to?😄
I love watching your reactions to Ghost! At some point you have to watch the Chapters, or even the Metal Myths "documentary", on Ghost's RU-vid Chanel - keep on rocking, man🤙
Oh man, you bring up some memories mentioning Textures - Dualism, used to listen to that record a lot driving home from work over a decade ago. good times!
Glad to see some other musicians get totally knocked over discovering Ghost. You hit the nail on the head here: it’s definitely not revolutionary in any way… but it has to be the musical references he uses that certainly hit home and touches something deep inside. From this album, jigolo and idolatrine have this swing to it that is just perfect 🤷♂️
Oh man, so great to see you enjoy the same parts as I do! I thought you’d like this one 😋 Seems we have similar taste when it comes to Ghost, I’m always looking forward to your next reaction 😊 I respect that you alternate Ghost with other requests, so as not to let down your other followers! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Man I love watching you on the same path I am with Ghost. I might be a month ahead of you, but this stuff is fucking gold. Seeing it through your eyes is like discovering them all over again. ❤
I think it was something you said in the reaction that gave the impression you'd never heard the band ir something. I'll go back and see and clarify. No shade, bro. Love Ghost. You gotta see them live if you haven't.
Ya if I didn't process the time line that's my bad. I can see why there would be confusion. Haven't seen you do much from Impera. Great album. -Griftwood -Darkness at the Heart of My Love -Watcher in the Sky -Hunter's Moon Peace
I'm so happy you're enjoying the album so far! And the others are right, you should also listen to the acoustic version of this song, if only to hear how amazing Tobias sounds singing it and you can hear the lyrics a little clearly too. Here's a direct link to an excellent recording from the Hard Drive performance: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xcCPp3l_1T4.html As for the artwork on this official audio version, each song from the second album to now has its own special artwork done by the artist, Zbigniew M. Bielak, for the album covers. Each piece is highly detailed and really fits each song. I'd recommend looking them up, they're really good!
I agree with others. I love the album version of this song but it is worth checking out the acoustic version. Its my favorite acoustic Ghost song I have heard! Enjoying your videos a lot, keep ‘em coming pls! :)
You have to react to this live acoustic 3 song special from a record store. It really show Tobias comic and entertainment side. Its pretty long beeing 3 songs but totally worth it. Its Gigolo, Zombie and If you have Ghost. I promise, you dont want to miss this! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yLbh8uKtQ40.html
Con Clavi Con Dio, Elizabeth, or Stand by Him are some killers songs from the first album Opus Eponymous. Also, do a full album reaction. I know thats long but Ghost is a band to listen to album to album, first album to last. Every album builds to the overall story. You can get some of the story from the Ghost Chapters on their youtube page, which is more witty comedy and shit from Tobias Forge. If you of an album review/reaction anytime please do it in order. It's just so good to go from start to present with them. EP's are fun as well. Just some songs that dont fit the album and some good covers. 1. Opus Eponymous 2.Infestessumam 2b. If you have Ghost 3.Meliora 3b. Popstar Ep 4.Prequelle 4b. Seven Inches of Satanic Panic (has mary on a cross and Kiss the Go-goat) 5.Impera The order shows awesome growth from a song writing perspective and a creativity perspective. Ghost also very much is built on being a heavier version of Tobias' band before Subvision. They have 1 album and its a catchy ass mfer too.
Wait til you come to Depth of Satan's eyes. If not the best so one of their best songs, in my opinion anyway!😉 Like your reactions btw. Nice and soft with some knowledge backing it up. 👍
After reacting to all Ghost Songs could you maybe do a Ranking or some sort of tierlist? Bc I am so interested in your ranking as you have been enjoying everything so far
This was the first song except Cirice that hooked me. First time I heard Infestisummam I didn’t dig it; except for this track and Year Zero. These days it’s my favourite Ghost record. For Ghost songs that are well known for having a live or acoustic version that’s really popular, I’d love to see you watch both versions in the video and compare them. Wouldve been cool to see you react to the studio zombie queen after you heard the acoustic one, since they’re so different. Would you consider doing a reaction the acoustic version of this track before doing Body and Blood? Be damn cool to hear your thoughts on the differences
Its pretty good..I do dig the album version more with all its bells and whistles..but the acoustic version deff shows how good of a singer is tobias is…and I dig the color scheme of the harddrive video shoot…really bright red haha looks kool in contrast to tobias and the ghouls
@@rockdariff hey man thanks so much for checkin it out and sharing your thoughts! I prefer the album version too but the acoustic definitely has its own flavour and like you said, TF’s voice is so good and clear.
I anticipated that this album might be a 'let down' (still enjoyable though!) in comparison to what you experienced vs Opus Eponymous. But I'm glad I'm wrong! I don wonder how the next two songs will go for you. Body & Blood for me is probably the weakest on the album. Idolatrine isn't bad either, but I feel like it's still lacking a little in comparison to the rest of the album (I feel like Jiogolo is a better version of the same song, if that makes sense.) Hopefully I'm wrong for you again there though!
