R Vermillion 🤯Mind blown! Omgggg 💜💜💜 This whole album got me shook. Been listening on repeat since release. Still shook! The lyrics, the video, the flow, the bars! I bow down to my king Agust d. Thank you to bighit to giving their artists freedom to write/producer/compose awesome music.
The King Yoongi portrays/references is Gwanghae-gun or Prince Gwanghae, the fifteenth king of the Joseon dynasty, and during his reign was seen as weak and was overthrown but nowadays he’s actually seen in Korean history as one of the wisest kings the country had known. Daechwita (literally "great blowing and hitting") is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching. Yoongi incorporates this sound into the beat because it has also been used as the ceremonial walk music for Kings. Agust D is Suga spelled backwards with DT which stands for Daegu Town which is where he is from in Korea. It’s pronounced like “August D”. Check out his full mixtape called D-2 which came out today! He also has a previous mixtape called Agust D which came out in 2016. Check out the songs The Last, Agust D (has an MV), and Give It To Me (also has an MV). Jin & Jungkook from BTS were in the video and they were the two guys fighting lol. Typically Suga’s solo work is a lot harder so I think you like it. I also recommend reading the lyric translations for the songs (Genius has them). Also, check out RM’s solo work (Album- mono, MVs: Do You, Joke), and J-hope’s (Mixtape- Hope World, MVs: Daydream, Airplane).
Fun fact: Min yoongi(augst D)is actually a descendent a couple of queens that married royal families of Korea, so when he says “I’m a King” he is like actually a part of a noble family. It’s Funny that it’s your favorite part.
Do pardon me, but may I have source for that information? It's the first time I've heard there that there was a "Min" surname out of any of the Kings in the history of Korea.
As far as I know, Min family is considered as high royal class family in Joseon dynasty because many wives of kings from Min family, so Min family is In-law family of Kings in Joseon dynasty. You can guess how powerful they were at that time.
There are more detail info. People learn Korean history from elementary to high school about for 15 years, so everyone in Korea have heard their names and know who they were. Queens(wives of kings) from Min family(Yeo Heong, Min clan) in Joseon dynasty and Korea Empire(1335~1910) Queen Wongyung : 3rd king Tae-jong’s wife, mother of king Seajong(who created Hangul: Korean letters). Queen Inhyun: 19th king Sook-jong’s wife. Queen Myungsung : 26th (1st of Korea Empire) king Go-jong’s wife. Mother of 2nd king of Korea Empire, Soon-jong. Queen Soonmyunghyo: 2nd king of Korea Empire, Soon-jong’s wife. Hope it would be helpful to understand little bit of history of Min family and Suga. :)
bts mv is known for full of metaphor and symbolism. in korea if you have a scar you couldn't be a king & queen. in the mv yoongi is a king and have a scar on his face, it can mean he is powerful & break the stereotype. yoongi also have 2 roles, as a king (successful yoongi) and as a yoongi himself. when king tries to kill yoongi, it can be representation of his successful life destroying his normal life, and at the end yoongi kill the king with a gun because he's not let fame/successful life take over him so he doesn't lose his original self.
Daechwta is a Korean type of music that is used or played when the army marches to war or when the King walks past in procession. I believe Suga actually descends from some royalty. In this song and mv his old self and current self are fighting for dominance. In his previous mixtape, Suga (the stage name he goes by in BTS) killed Min Yoongi (his birth name) but in this song and MV, his true self kills off the ‘King’. This guy here is good and deserves respect 😎
Someone theorized that the executioner was the butcher in the beginning, whom Agust D shared a look with when going through the street. So, they were in cahoots from the beginning, which is why the executioner released him and provided him with the gun.
At 2:08 these two are actually Jin and Jungkook from bts it was so funny to see them as cameo. But also you guys should check out the b sides of this mixtape! Theyre all bangers! And there’s one with namjoon, another bts member! Idk if you did, but you should rewatch the mv with the subtitles on cuz lyrics 🔥
Agust D's music will either make you bop the whole time (like this one) or literally gut you with how emotional it is (like some of the tracks on his first mixtape), there's no inbetween lol
YESS you reacted to this! I love Agust D! Daechwita is like Korean military song (I think that it's what it means) it's a kind of song generally performed while marching, it's like he is ready to fight! (you have English subtitles in the video) I also tend to prefer this kind of songs as Honan said. Hope you guys get a lot of views :)
Daechuta(대취타) is a song played when a king marches for king. Then people must make a way and bow on their's knees. In this song, the king is agust d, lol. And this mv and lyrics references a korean movie Kwanghae(광해)-who known as a tyrant. In that movie, the king disappeared and one clown who has same face with a king became a king in 10 days.
This rap started hard and went harder and harder. Suga leaves no doubt who is the KING! We are NOT WORTHY. My eyes widen at the part in the video where he his carrying the box with the severed head and the severed heads were covered hanging off of the porch. He is rappin' Daechwita!! Play it loud, which to me; the King is entering, play his music loud! So many power verses filled with urgency!!! .Suga does this amazing Sword Dance. It was so authentic and Suga pulled it off as the pro he is. I love how he uses their history, their lineage, their ancestry to paint the viewer a story. This song & video is head bangin' at it finest. Last: This beautiful backdrop to film should satisfy the pickiest of film critics. Off With Your Head! 5 STARS ********
"daechwita" is the KOREAN monk-like chant sampled at the very beginning. it was used during KOREA's last Dynasty, Joseon (1392-1897), to announce the arrival of the king and his military procession to the people. suga is both the king and slave. suga proclaims that he, the king, has arrived. he implies, now that he has reached the top of his domain, he realizes that there is only one view, and that's down. now that he has everything, (money, fame, power) he thirsts for more, that there must be more. in the end, he shoots his alter ego, king, so that he might return to his slave roots at which time he will rise once more by conquering something new. it is a part of bts' exploration of the anxieties associated with massive global success at yet a young age. they do not want to fall into the pitfalls of drugs, alcohol, idleness and then oblivion. their goal is to continue to push forward in order to achieve more--to contribute to the world community. bts is 100% KOREAN. everything in the mv from the architecture, wardrobe, visuals, sounds, location is all korean.
I asked a Korean friend and he said "대취타" is an unusual word in Korean but is a reference to something similar to a victory song they played when the king walked down the streets? Soldiers would play music on their instruments in front of the king as he walked. I guess this could be Suga's victory song? 😊
You’ve only listened to the main video of BTS but the other songs in BTS album that don’t have music videos are AMAZINGGG. BTS have many hard hitting songs as a group and you haven’t heard it. Songs like House of Cards, Ugh, Respect, Cyphers etc. when you watch BTS as a group live all their songs become even more epic. Especially at the Melon Music Awards 2019 performance. Epiccc! Vocalist are on point, rap are on point, dancing is top notch in comparison to many other kpop groups. BTS as a group have amazing songs you haven’t heard. A lot of their songs are narratively connected. So you wouldn’t understand some references or deep lyrics in their songs. Really sad that you don’t spot the complexity, the symbolism of the instruments and imagery in their title tracks. All their live performances make all their songs sound like masterpieces.
Just to clarify, this isn't K-hip hop, or Kpop. It's just Hip hop. The fact that it's in another language doesn't matter. If you give the full mixtape a listen you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's in the same league as Biggie and other rappers. It's just hip-hop. Yoongi said so himself. :)
I'm a metalhead myself and Suga is my favorite in BTS (but I love them all!) because he comes up with all kinds of unique intense and raw music including his ever evolving rap styles.
Yoongi was an underground rapper before joining bts and he's a producer and writer, he produced a bunch of bts's songs as well and obviously his two solos mixtapes. You should check the rest of the songs out, his new mixtape D-2 is 🔥
Honan slayed✨✨✨ Im sure already a lot of people explain the things in the video so imma just pass that😂😂😂💀like i was gonna tell you guys some things but some people in the comments did already!! 💕💕 But this comeback he just Slayed, like period!!🖤💫😍 You guys can check out the album of this song, is “D-2”, those songs are too much, amazing!💜 And also you guys can also check out the other solo’s from other memebers of BTS: ✨RM - he has two solo albums so the 1st one is “RM” and the tittle track is “Do You” and the second album is “Mono” and the tittle track is “Forever Rain” ✨J-Hope - his first solo, the album is called “Hope World” and the tittle track is “Daydream” ✨AgustD - his first solo, the album is called “AgustD” and the tittle track is “AgustD”
I can’t stop watching this video and I really love your reaction. I’m really loving his mix tape and I just am so happy that Yoongi (Suga, Agust D) is able to do the music he really wants to make with so much confidence. I want to be that confident someday haha. He’s really in his element. Always love how open and genuine you guys are in reactions.
The reason why this MV instantly brought you back to Kingdom on Nexflix is bcz the historical time period in this MV is the same as in the Kingdom. It's called Jo-seon Dynasty, the ancient Korea. So the architecture of the palace and the streets, King's outfits and regular citizen's clothings are the same as in the Kingdom. Also musical instruments used in this music are various Korean traditional musical instruments. All the props and references used in this MV is from Joseon Dynasty, which is the ancient Korea. 'Daechwita' is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, generally performed while marching.
@@Gusmcarthur Hi! idk if anyone ever recommended this before, but you might like BTS 2019 MAMA N.O + We are bulletproof pt. 2 since they perform the songs with a rock remix, i remember this bc you guys really like fake love rock version :)
DAECHWITA is a Korean traditional march music. And it is played when King or high officials visit But it's mostly played for army marching and trainings as well.
This is August D second mixtape. In 2016 he released his first mixtape. August D I love both his mixtapes, his first was darker but in his second mixtape some songs his lyrics goes dark as well. I just love him as a rapper, composer and producer 😊 and ofcourse also as Suga from BTS 💜
August as in the month. Daechwita is literally "The Great Hit" and is the marching tune for royalty back in Joseon dynasty days. The two guys fighting were Jin and Jungkook from BTS. The storyline follows the old tale of the King with Two Faces, look it up.
Daechwita is the music that was played when the king was visiting the common people in the dynasty of Korea. It was also played when the worriors came back from a battle.
the most beautifull thing for us ARMY with BTS is that in one year we get albums as group and bunch of solo works from the members from the singers we get songs and from the rappers mixtapes and there we can see that they have diffrente styles and are all diffrent from each other but when they are together they combine all their styles at 1 style (the BTS style)
Pronounced August D. The album includes: Moonlight, Daechiwata, What do you think?, Strange, 28, Burn it, People, Hansool. You can find the lyrics here on RU-vid. Best interpretation of wtf is going on in Daechiwata is DKDKTV and Learn Korean_Apprendre Le Coreen
Guys you need watch CNblue and Day6 (are kpop bands 🎹🎸🥁) You guys gonna like. 😄 I recomend: Intuition and Cant Stop - CNBlue Sweet Chaos and Congratulations- Day6
This song does NOT get old. Love this channel 💜 You got a ‘subscribe’ from me based on your reaction style and not pausing the video every 5 seconds on the first run through 😂😂
I was so shocked by how good the video and the song that I couldn't speak until I watched it for three times. It's just hilarious, and I wasn't even excited for his comeback, and he is not even my bias. I can't, it's just stupid how good it is. Can I cry at this point?
Dwaechita is that hymn or anthem or istrumental music the people play to welcome the King or Majesty, I think they also play that in millitary. I heard this info from my Korean friend tough.. :)
Agust D is SUGA from BTS but without any filters, he created this persona for his solo work to truly say what he wanted, the lyrics are RAW. This song is basically a marching beat imagined for BTS and ARMY (BTS’ fans) and lyrics to reflect his power, where he stands and how he doesn’t care what others think,;he is in control (he literally killed his evil self to take his place, he takes his own place in the throne). This is his second mixtape with this name, he was an underground rapper before joining BTS, just like RM, and they were highly criticized by their previous “peers”. BTS’ music is actually filled with hiphop, kpop isn’t a music genere but something bigger. You have pop, rap, r&b, punk, rock, etc. all inside kpop’s music.
BTS has a vocal line 4 and a rap line 3 - they are 7 members who are ALL extremely talented in their own way. Suga is a main rapper for them and this is his 2nd solo mixtape. His aka name is pronounced like August D but its spelled AgustD bec ause its Dt Suga (Dt stands for Daegu town his hometown - he is their favorite son because of his success and charity to them)
This dude Agust D aka Suga aka Yoongi is just mad he just never disappoints just AWESOME... Thank u so much for ur reaction it was great... U guys just earned a new sub here... Keep reacting to this dude man
This is his second mixtape. His first one came out in 2016, he had a couple of music videos as well. J-hope and RM has also released mixtapes, 1 and 2 albums respectively.
(Sorry for the bad grammer😂😂) 'Daechitta' is a traditional military ritual that was played in the procession of a king or a nobleman and an army march in Korea. The contents of the movie, the acting of Suga, and the lyrics include the appearance and story of a Korean king (ex, Gwangjong), but it seems that Suga is an expression of a story that he wants to tell through the story of a Korean king. But I'm not sure yet, that's why I can't explain the song exactly. So I'll entrust the whole explanation(include details)to the experts :)
Thank you for the reaction as always!! :D You talked about the drama kingdom and I remembered, there is a mnet show airing right now called road to kingdom where 7 boygroups are competing against each other and doing various performances! it would be cool if you could react to some of them! Especially The Boyz, they do crazy stuff and always have a good concept!! Golden child, Too and Onf performances are really good as well!!
Daechwita is a specific traditional song that played when the king was entering/doing a ceremony. It’s what the opening but was with the traditional voice before August D started rapping
Daechwita is a traditional music played during a King's walk/march, in the Joseon Era. Also those two guys at the back fighting are Jin and Jungkook also from BTS! lmao it was so funny see them cameo and that fake beard they gave Jin looks so good on him lololol
If you wan't to check out more of BTS and Bigbang solo rap releases then I suggest RM - Joke and T.O.P - Doom Dada. Both a bit dark and very interesting.
OMG OMG MY BOY SUGA BOMB HAS COME AND GONE LIKE A PRO AFTER JUST PLACING HATERS ONCE AGAIN IN THEIR PLACE ON TOP OF SLAYING HIS ARMY 👀🙀 WITH HIS BLACK HAIR AND VISUALS. Dont even get me started with the treatment don’t know about anyone else but I was holding my breathe the whole MV Seeing him getting up from the throne, bodies in the ground, 😳 JINKOOK FIGHTING IN THE BACKGROUND, brings a car in traditional dynasty setting while battling his inner self then goes into nasty slow flow rap like RM did in DDAENG while tied up & blindfolded - I literally on the edge of my seat when he came being taken what looked like he was going to be beheaded and AGUSTD is showing off his sword skills then Suga bomb takes the gun and turns around conquering the evil side of himself like a boss 😎 I noticed he used some beats and allot of phrases that he did in his BTS comeback interlude: SHADOW. *The more I watch, it keeps me remembering how he loves scarface and reminds me abit of scar from lion king with traditional mortal kombat vibes. He phrase “I born a tiger ain’t no weak pill popper like you” = SAY NO TO DRUGS* THE BLACK FIGURES BEHIND SUGA PRESENT US THE BTS ARMY, HE BASICALLY SAYING GOODBYE TO HIS PAST BECAUSE HES READY TO MOVE ON TO A NEW CHAPTER OF HIS LIFE #AGUSTD2 #BTS_SUGA #Confrontation #Daechwita THATS PHRASE “We so fly we so fly private jet we so fly” ... He’s talking his brothers BTS when he says “We” and you see him bump into Jin (in a beard? Lol) turns for a second and jungkook accidentally gets hit in the face with the fishing pole that Jin is holding & they pretend to fight. MY BOY SUGA/AGUSTD NEVER FAILS TO BE OUTSPOKEN PERSON, SAYS WHATEVER IS ON HIS MIND ... When he says “off with their heads”, it doesn’t means literally cutting their heads off but more or less he’s hitting their heads off with his words. Hahahaha you know hes not Yoongi when he DISSing justin timberlake when he says “cry me a river you just got no skills”!
you pronounce Agust just like the month August and the title of the song is 'Daechwita'..in traditional Korean culture, Daechwita is the grand marching anthem played whenever the king or royalty of the land was going out of the palace so the people would be made aware of his arrival..btw, the 2 guys (the one with the fishing rod & the other one who started the brawl) fighting in the back are actually Jin & Jungkook, 2 of the 7 members of BTS..i recommend you turn on the English captions to see the translation of the lyrics 😉 P.S. also check-out the behind the scene vid over at their official YT channel BANGTANTV..that's all thanks 😉🤟🏼💜
BTS is the genre. We don't really label them Kpop (etc) because they are truly outside of the industry and perform at the level of Western artists. D-2 spent 4 consecutive days on itunes world album chart, beating out Lady Gaga. BTS /is/ the genre. Awesome reaction. 💜
There is a cc button over there☝️ listening to agust D n bts without lyrics is a no no.. Their lyrics r treasures.. Hopefully u guys watch it with cc.. He has no filters in his mixtape. Everyone is not safe😅
Korean Rappers tend to be pretty 'oldschool' instyle, meaning they are fasty and go in hard quite a lot of the time. I would strongly recommend checking out more Agust D, annd maybe some Zico, [also really good]
As an ARMY (BTS fan) I even learned a few things in your comments section. I'm glad you are watching Korean entertainment and especially BTS and solo work of the members
AGUST D released a whole mixtape for free last night. The songs on their are really great and deeply personal. I would recommend to listen to all of them. One of my favorites is the song Dear My Friend, tho.
