AOA debuted in 2012 under FNC Entertainment with their song “Elvis”. FNC had previously mostly had bands (FT Island and CN Blue) AOA was given a unique concept. They had a half band/ half idol concept. AOA stands for Ace Of Angels. They debuted with 7 members in the Idol portion of the group and they had 1 other member who was the drummer for the band portion. Choa- oldest member, main vocal Jimin- leader, Main rapper Yuna- lead vocal Hye Jeong- lead vocal, visual, lead dancer Mina- vocalist, rapper Seolhyun- Center, lead dancer, vocalist Chanmi- Main dancer, lead rapper, vocal, youngest member. Choa, Jimin, Yuna, and Mina joined the drummer to form the subunit AOA Black (band version) Choa- Main vocal, lead guitar Jimin- Main rapper, second guitar Yuna- lead vocal, keyboard Mina- vocal, bassist Y/ Yookyung- drummer Y is the angel name of the drummer Yookyung. All the members were given an angel name to fit their concept Choaya Jiminel Yunaria Hyejeong.Linus Minaring Seolhyunari Chanmi T.T Yookyung was only considered a half angel because she was only in the band version. AOA’s initial music style had more of a pop rock style. A lot of their songs were able to have band versions of them. The band version had their own song “Moya” which came out in 2013. After a while AOA started to try more sexy concepts and those garnered more popularity than their other songs, so they focused on that. So in 2016 Yookyung left FNC and the band, but said that if AOA ever did need their drummer, she would be happy to fulfill her duty. In 2016 a new sub unit debuted called AOA Cream. This was a cuter and more poppy sub unit that included Yuna (main vocal), Hyejeong (Lead vocal, visual, lead dancer) and Chanmi (Main rapper, Main dancer, vocal, youngest member) They debuted with their song “I’m Jelly Baby” In 2017, Choa also left the group due to insomnia and depression. Many believe that it is a result of having to do sexy concepts that weren’t what she wanted to do, but we don’t know, we can only hope that she will get better in time. AOA came back in 2018 with their song “Bingle Bangle” with Yuna now being the main vocal. On May 12, 2019 FNC announced that Mina had left the group and the company It was also recently announced that Choa had left the company as well.

Other AOA MVs you guys should react to are one of their first songs Get Out and Like A Cat which was released around the same time as Miniskirt. AOA also had an actual band unit for a little bit called AOA Black, they released a song called Moya, you should check that out as well. This is pretty fitting recently since a second member (third member overall) just left AOA, so it's nice to see one of their classics as a full lineup. Truly one of the greatest hoe anthems of the decade. Though as great as EXID are, there's sexy concepts in all kinds of groups. AOA have done it a lot, sure (Like a Cat springs to mind), though not exclusively. Here's some examples: Miss A - Bad Girl, Good Girl and Hush Girl's Day - Something Hyuna - 95% of her entire discography but especially Lip and Hip Also, sick Star Wars shirt.

AOA started of a hybrid idol group and an instrumental band doing some pop rock. Then they evolved into the sexy concept with miniskirt being their earlier sexy songs. Eventually their songs became more modern but still sexy. Their latest concepts where more old school and retro as they went back to their miniskirt type style.

AOA has tried different styles, around the 2014-2017 they had this kind of sexy visuals (Listen to Like a Cat and Excuse Me), but Miniskirt is probably the sexiest they've done. If you wannna know more about AOA, my next recommendation would be Like a Cat (one of their greatest hits) or Bingle Bangle (most recent comeback). They have many hit songs, they were extremely popular a few years ago.

A little history about them: They used to be a five member group but unfortunately in 2014 they were involved in a car accident as they were traveling from one show to another (kpop group schedules tend to be really hectic :( ). The factors of the accident were determined to be the speed and the weather, due to the accident two members of the group (Rise and EunB) passed away. Some songs I would recommend if you want to check them out first before the accident I would recommend "Bad Girl", "So wonderful" (this was the song I discovered them with) or "Hate You" and if you want to check them out when they had their comeback after the accident I would recommend "Galaxy", "Rain" and of course "Feedback" which is their most recent comeback. They decided to stay as a 3 member group and they need a lot of support, honestly I personally admire them because I probably would't be able to have the strength they have showed.

The members of the groups play instruments and could play all their early work live. However, after the success of Miniskirt, they dropped the band side to focus just being an idol group. As you’re making your way through the k-pop journey, u guys should try j-rock (Japanese rock)! One band I highly recommend is Ling Tosite Sigure, they have insane guitar parts. Some songs from them I recommend are “abnormalize,” “signal.”
Please check out EXID's newest single "Me & You". It just released on Wednesday and it's really good. This will also be EXID's last release for quite some time since Jeonghwa and Hani did not renew their contract with Banana Culture. While the group has said that this doesn't mean that they are disbanding, it is an unfortunate possibility. Also, since you guys haven't done it yet, how about EXID's previous release, "I Love You". It's also very good. The only thing EXID consistently fails at is that they fail to make bad music, haha! Also also, as a fellow metalhead, please bring back the guitar intro.

You guys need to stay away from the AOA's, Apink's, Sistar, etc. There's like 1 song from each these groups I can handle since it's so catchy. I grew up on the 90's alternative music and the only enjoyment you'll get is the visuals with these types of groups. For GG's, I suggest sticking with groups like 2NE1, Dreamcatcher, BP, G I-dle, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, etc. However, there are some songs from other groups that may interest you. I went into the rabbit hole after hearing Crazy by 4 minute a couple of years ago. CLC's Hobgoblin is another song that took me by surprise. These songs are out there. For something a little more tame, try a song from KARD, although their newest song (Bomb Bomb) is pretty upbeat. EXID is also pretty good and their changes are drastic. GFriend will take getting used to but they have that early 80's comedy theme song vibe. Just my suggestion.
