idk if anyone has told you yet, but the plot of the music video is as follows: the girls kill a pizza boy every full moon. not necessarily from the same place, since there's a scene with them and the pizza boxes in that shot are from different pizzerias, but they kill one every full moon (seen in several shots of the sky). the "missing delivery boys" poster at the end proves this. in between their murders, they train for the next one. they find a victim and order pizza from him to lure him into thinking that they are nice people, so that when they finally try to kill him he will be on board with spending time with them (there's a shot in the middle of the video where the moon is only half full, indicating that they won't murder him yet). they also sharpen their skills (seen where the girls throw weapons at each other) and plan how to kill the dude. when they lure him in, they first play for some hours and the guy seems to think that everything's fine. when the clock strikes twelve they all leave him blindfolded. one girl takes on the role of "hey the rest of them are going crazy we need to get out of here" and pretends to be helping the pizza boy get away - it's clear that this is a ploy since 1) all of the girls play this part, indicating that this is not a permanent role and that they just take turns and 2) the shot just after yeri (crossbow girl) has fired at the pizza guy (and missed on purpose to make him trust the girl who is telling him to get away) shows all of them, proving that they are united and that no one is Actually helping him. finally, when he is calling the cops, the girl who told him to get out kills him and the girls wait until the next full moon, shown in both the end scene and the opening one where they are all resting after a successful sacrifice.

Gus McArthur Metal Head/kpop fan here...SM entertainment is very deliberate with their groups (Red Velvet, EXO, SHINee, etc etc...)"concepts"....Red Velvet are sort of a dark, witchy concept. They never smile in promo photos and they always try to have a bit of a dark/weird/trippy element to their videos. I love them.

I was a fan of Cazzi Opeia when she was a solo artist, and even way back when she was on Swedish Idol under her real name - and loved Red Velvet for a good while before I checked out the credits! So unexpected and fun that she's had a hand in this and other tracks! Go Sweden 🇸🇪

Agreed with all you said, from what I know about Red Velvet. But I just wondered if Peekaboo belongs in the Velvet category. To me it feels more upbeat and odd.
I would've thought the same if it wasn't clarified by the concept and the album it's in "Perfect Velvet" very much more influenced in hop hop, the heavy bass, and the vocals being more coy and mature as opposed to their Red side. You can say it's their darker side as well.
I've been into metal (mostly doom, drone, thrash, but I like pretty much all subgenres with some exceptions) for 13-14 years now, and I got into kpop 7-8 years ago and been huge fan since, glad to see fellow metalheads reacting to some of my favourite kpop groups, cheers!
Red Velvet are juniors to extremely popular girl groups like Girls Generation and F(x). They're almost like a fuse between the two taking on a fresh bubblegum and classy vibe from Girls Generations earlier days and the quirky weird vibe from f(x). Yet they have their own creepy twist to everything (all of their MV's are dark in some way if you really think about it).
Been loving these reactions. Korea definitely has a rock scene (even a heavy metal scene, I understand) but it's definitely not mainstream. So it's harder to find music as a foreign fan. I'm not familiar at all with korean metal, but I can recommend some of my favorite korean rock songs: Guckkasten- 변신(transform), stranger, and pulse Se So Neon - the wave, a long dream Hyukoh- wanli(korean band, song is in mandarin)
(I know I comment a lot on these videos but RIP I love it when people are new to Kpop and are willing to learn about it) If you like midi/electronic music then you should check out Red Velvet's sister group, f(x). They're known for their electronic sound and being a bit off beat in K-Pop. Were popular with second generation K-Pop fans. They're also my absolute favourite group. Either Red Light or 4 Walls if you're willing to try them out, though 4 Walls is a much trippier MV and definitely Maya Derren-esque in concept.
I feel like your reactions get better each time you post one! I like seeing people really dive into kpop, and ask questions about it. Mamamoo has a new song released called Starry Night, it's really good, they mix the genres in their music quite a bit. They have some jazzy stuff too like Piano Man. Their song Decalcomanie is another fun one to check out. Gonna throw out 4minute - Hate for some more "bad ass" vibes if you're into that.

Peek-a-Boo is a great song and I'm glad you like it! You guys probably have a big list already since you talk about it in almost every video but... If someone didn't recommend those songs, I would like to do it instead: - Pristin V's Get It (Pristin V is a sub-unit of the girl group Pristin, which I don't like but this one song is really good! If someone hasn't explained it yet, a sub-unit in kpop consists in just a few members from said group and it can change their song style, their concept, etc. It explores different sides of its root group); - Pentagon's Shine, Critical Beauty and Gorilla (Pentagon is a boy group from Cube Entertainment that debuted in 2016. They aren't that famous but have great songs. Their style is catchy and I really love it. Shine is their newest single and it's really cute, a big change in their 2016 concept that started with Gorilla); - (G)-I-DLE's Latata (G-IDLE is a brand new girl group from Cube Ent. and I love the song and the MV. The choreo is also amazing.); - Triple H's 365 FRESH (Triple H is a Cube Ent. unit formed by Pentagon members Hui and E'dawn (Hyojong is his real name, for the triple H matter) and former 4MINUTE member, now solo artist, HyunA. Triple H is about to release a new mini album tomorrow called Retro Futurism and its title song, Retro Future, is sounding amazing!); - NCT Dream's Chewing Gum and GO. Both songs belong to the same group but they're very different in, like, everything. It's nice to check out how much a group can change. (NCT is a SM Ent. boy group that consists in three units: NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT Dream. In an interview, they explained the concept of each unit. 127 is their base unit, so it's the most regular unit in NCT, but U is a unit where they can have 9 members in a song or just two of them. Each U song is very different from the last one. Dream is their teenage unit, consisted in only teenage boys so when they grow old they will go to another unit. SM is about to release other NCT units such as NCT China, Thailand, South America, etc. Even Koreans don't understand NCT very well so I won't blame you if you don't); Last but not least, I'm not a Cube fangirl hahaha
I know you guys get more suggestions than you can keep track of on your videos but I would really suggest you check out Tri-angle by TVXQ! Tvxq are an older group and triangle is an older song but it's guitar heavy and definitely has rock/metal influences!! I would also suggest Lucifer by SHINee! Besides kpop I also prefer rock based music, and when I was getting into kpop this song really captivated me because it didn't seem like "pop" to me; it's very unique and different! Shinee are a great and versatile group too!! There's something for everyone in their discography :D Also, I already saw it mentioned but Twins by Super Junior is another guitar-heavy song that you guys might like!!
You should watch some older Kpop songs like Mamma Mia by Kara and First Love by After School. Also, Red Velvet had a "Velvet" concept which was more r&b like Be Natural, Automatic, and One of These Nights that you should check out if you want to see a softer side of them.

I just realised whilst going through your other videos that I had actually seen Honan's Girl's Generation Catch Me If You Can remix before but it somehow didn't click. I'm definitely going to listen to more but I have listened to Final Prayer, The Way To Go and Memories Of You... I may be a little bit in love you guys are awesome. For more Red Velvet; Russian Roulette has a similar theme where they are trying to kill each other tom and jerry style it's very catchy and overall an interesting song. Also for VIXX you should definitely react to Voodoo Doll, very creepy (some find it a bit too much), not something really ever done and Vixx N's Performance Video of 인연 (Fate) is absolutely amazing! Also just suggestions for watching; they have a 3 part series: Dynamite (Hades), Fantasy (Zelos) and The Closer (Kratos), the videos include greek mythology and are setup in a backwards order, but even ignoring that the songs are great! Even if you don't react to them definitely check them out still. Sorry for the long comment lol.

I really recommend checking out VIXX for an upcoming reaction, they’re known as the Concept Kings and they always go all out! Voodoo Doll is one that I feel is particularly impressive where they take the concept to the next level! Error is also a very good one with more of an emotional feel and I don’t know... I just think you guys would maybe enjoy them? They’re my very favorites and have been for years.

On a side note, wasnt the main riff in Metal Messiah by Judas Priest taken from one Korean band? I think that they had the same producer and he came up with the riff, so it wasnt plagiarism. edit: I think that when it comes down to this video, everyone forgets one crucial thing. One major point. I saw a theory on this (and a few other Red Velvet videos) that says that the girls are supposed to be vampires and they even tied a couple of videos together with their theory. I find it interesting to watch Peek-a-boo with that possibility in mind. Again, this is a theory that I stumbled upon (not my own!! I just really like it)! lol

They disbanded bc they weren't popular enough but they debuted with this like, 9 minute long horror/gore MV and the song wasn't very metal but the MV really was. The high-pitched noise adds to the creepy vibe & it's fun that they used a kiddie phrase to make a fun Halloween song.

Generally they have production team and music campus to produce music for their artists. They also collaborate with many other famous producers. I know red velvet's bad boy is produced by stereotype (who also produce many other songs for sm artists). you can check out a variety show called ''snowball project'', it's really cool that the show shows how sm artists and their production team compose their music.
