What she meant was that their relationship couldn’t work because he was doing cocaine and she was only into weed at the time. They broke up because of it but later got together again and he got her into hard drugs. Amy was doing hard drugs for 2007-2008 and than quit it and never did it again, she died of alcohol poisoning on July 23rd 2011😢 I really recommend you to watch the amazing documentary about her life, it’s called “Amy”.

The gift Amy had that many other songwriters don't is the fact that the way she sings these songs, regardless of the lyrics, elicits emotion. For example, Taylor Swift has a lot of songs with lyrically similar themes, but her singing on its own doesn't elicit the emotion without the lyrics. If you told me, "hey here's a song about heartbreak" and it was this song, but with nonsense lyrics, I'd still feel that emotion. That's not to put t swift down, I like her a lot. But there is a difference.

Amy was amazing…so sad when she died. Amy and her ex Blake fielder civil, were very toxic together and were both heavily into drugs, they split up a few times. When she sang this song live, you could tell how badly it still affected her. She was getting sorted out just before she died, had a period of being sober, then she was gone. Her 1st album frank is very good, though for jazz than the soulful back to black album. A wasted talent. She won a fair few Grammies for this album too!
