Amy Winehouse was, and still is, one of the greatest talents ever in my opinion. I think if you listen to it a few times more you’d fall in love with the song. Her album Back To Black is on of the best ever. You should listen to it from start to finish. You should also do a reaction to her song “Rehab.” RIP Amy. What a major loss.

Wow, I'm surprised you haven't heard much of Amy. At the time of her death, her album Back to Black was the biggest selling album of the 21st century and it won her 5 Grammy's. She is particularly a huge star in the UK where she is recognised as a cultural icon and her music is still very relevant to this day.

Definitely a 60’s vibe to this, soul/Motown with that feel given in the video. One of the best female vocalists in decades and many of today’s artists reference Amy as their inspiration.

When Mark Ronson collaborated with Amy on this album, he purchased lots of analogue 60’s equipment to give it that raw authenticity that would enhance Amy’s style.

@@tayahmcrae2418 think you didn't actually read or understand my comment. Or maybe you don't know what per se means. I know that she was in her twenties when she sang this. Amy was mature and had lived more than both you and me. She wasn't a youngster.
@amywinehoe
@amywinehoe 2 года назад
@@kayleighmoran She actually classified herself as a Jazz singer, and she was during her early years. Or during her first studio album “Frank” which she released in 2003, after this first album she strayed from it but at the root she was always a Jazz artist. Even if it wasn’t reflected as much during her second and last studio album “Back To Black” released in 2006. And she was actually very young! People tend to forget this, because she looked so mature. In that video she was only 22!
@kayleighmoran

@@amywinehoe I see that you love Amy as much as me. You do not need to tell me facts about her, but I can tell you one thing, or challenge you even; her music is NOT jazz. Mark Ronson - Bruno Mars And Uptown Funk. Ronson was also a very good friend of Amy's. Amy Winehouse was an amazing and unique talent in the early 2000s. You may want to listen to her song Valerie. Amy had a troubled life. While a huge star she was married to a herion addict who was bad for her. She was always a drinker but, with her husband she really got into drugs and ended up passing away at 27. Like others in the 27 club (Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, ect), the world lost another great and huge talent We will be much poorer for it.

I think after I have watched document about Amy Winehouse, I can appreciate her songs so much more after knowing the backrounds. But as a jazz musician I love the sounds and the feel they have chosen with their instruments. Laid back lively drums with not much dampening that swing on every beat. Love it

Amy combined genre's and loved the old time band singers. It does have jazz, and Tony Neen rated her with the greats like Ella, Billie Holiday, etc. Listen to her song "valerie" (live) and "Rehab" (more upbeat). Her style was so new to the generation she was in, she stood out and embraced. I'd recommend the HBO cocu film on her. The coffin was said to be her broken heart. She said she wouldn't do well with fame and she didn't. Not many supports around her, not even her Father, who seemed more interested in her fame. I'd like to hear your reaction to her singing voice, lyrics and performances. RIP to Amy. BTW: alcohol bonds with a chemical in the brain, and addictive. Herion and cigarettes do the same.

I think if people would not try to put all music they listen to into a box of a certain genre, they'd actually appreciate it more. Amy Winehouse wasn't a genre, she was Amy Winehouse. One of a kind. And maybe you should learn a little bit more about addiction because you certainly got some things wrong. Alcohol withdrawal is one of the worst and dangerous drugs to withdraw from if you are addicted. Seizures and death are serious possible consequences of acute alcohol withdrawal. Alcoholism is no joke.

Ronnie did a pretty damned good version of this... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OkDQePNMmt8.html.. Ronnie was amazing.. sadly, lost her recently as well, but when I had chance to meet Ronnie briefly when she was touring in the mid-90's.. she was incredibly charming and energetic.. she didn't know me from anything/anywhere, but she just jumped up and threw her arms around my neck and agreed to pose wherever I wanted.. lol

She died of it hun. What you said about alcohol you dont consider it being addictive is incorrect (sadly) you can die from not having it for trying to get off it as Amy did. My cousin was a drinker, his mum ( my aunty & uncle) asked im round for Christmas (day/dinner) but NO drink. In the afternoon the ambulance came and took him away and he died from a physical addiction withdrawal . Its real. Thats not blaming you or not knowing, its nice to learn, but alcohols not having a joint. Ive done it all and alcohol is the worst, its everywhere you go. Apart from that (sorry going off topic) loved the review and Amy will be missed. x

It's very interesting, its kind of that chicken or egg thing right? Like I know tons of people who can drink a lot then just stop easy, no problem. Then I know other people who can't, like Amy. It makes me wonder whether the substance itself is addictive or the person gets addicted to how it makes them feel, how it allows them to escape. They essentially deal with some much internal pain it becomes terrifying and difficult to deal with life sober. I have heard interviews with experts on both sides of it. Any maybe its a genetic thing, that if you have a certain genetic trait alcohol becomes addictive for you. Nice chatting with you Barney :)
