J-ax was one of the first to bring rap to Italy together with his deejay DjJad. The duo called themselves "Article 31" inspired by Article 31 of the Irish Constitution which refers to freedom of speech and expression. They rapped very hard with a language that didn't conform to those times, in fact they were a niche group, not everyone liked them. They didn't go on TV, they refused approval. Over time their songs have become a bit for everyone. Very summery, they generally become catchphrases. In their early years the lyrics were about neighborhood life. Drug. Social revenge and like this one you listened to, Maria Salvador is nothing other than marijuana that saves us from the stressful life of everyday life.
This video is great, it was done all in one take.. J-ax also has a fun song from a couple years ago "La Mia Hit" that takes scenes from a bunch of other music videos at the time.
The song's literally about weed ("Maria")... Sadly, Il Cile's not so big also because of his past addiction to alcohol, according to many interviews he gave...😢
Hey man! If you wanna here more from J-Ax I've got two song to suggest. The first one is Intro, the second one is La mia ragazza mena from Articolo 31 (the previous band he has).
Oh, Lo zio! (Here in italy is known as "lo zio", which means "the uncle"! Uncle Ax! Thanks for this, tho this is not one of his best song, more like a "summer song", but if you wanna know the real J-Ax you should listen to "Rap n' Roll", "Mrs and Mr Hyde", "Old punk", "Tutto tua madre", "Ribelle e basta", "Sopra la media" and talking about his old band "Articolo 31"... i can suggest you the entire discography lol. The're part of the italian rap scene, one of the oldest part and best one. I suppose "Fino in fondo" would be a great start!
PS: And since they're back together: "Filosofia del fu*k off", "Un bel viaggio", "La fiera del cringe", "Contadino", "Classico". :D And a bonus track (That's a feat) "Goodbye" featuring La Sad.
