T has earned the right to use Auto Tune because he is clearly NOT been using it to make up for any vocal deficiencies on his part, but as an artistic expansion of his already well-grounded talent! That being said, Love listening to him without it just to apprecaite HOW talented he really is!
There is no “earning the right” to use auto tune. Every single song on an album and on a radio is using auto tune. Stop perpetuating the idea that it somehow delegitimizes singers. It’s a tool like any other every song also uses - compression, leveling, balance etc. it doesn’t mean the artist can’t sing.
He said in an interview one of his big hits actually wasn’t auto tune and it’s bugging me because i can’t remember which song it was. It was like one of his top 3 hits and by listening i can’t tell which one it is and it angers me
@@Hey_Jamie I can't believe someone wrote this without knowing who tpain is, take a listen and you'll see the type of autotune he uses, it's alot and he was infact one of the first to stop using autotune so smoothly and purposely made it obvious and heavy, much like many artists in the years to come after him. What op is saying is that he's just impressed he didn't use that heavy autotune to heavily cover his bad vocals, it was only to set himself apart and he paved the way for terrible singers to use the similar style and it helped many rap artists sound more melodic without care that they had to use heavy and obvious autotune to cover terrible vocals and tremendously increase range
Agreed! Jase, if you can find the videos it would be worth your while to check out T-Pain's journey on The Masked Singer. He shows so much versatility but his Stay With Me performance is the best!
@@syncwolf3375 Not Nick. Most of the time I want to punch him. But it was super cute when he wrote down who he thought it was and "monster" gave him a little shove indicating he was right.
He was on the masked singer and he was AMAZING!!! I absolutely love his natural voice! You should check out his performances on the masked singer. Lots of variety.
it blows my mind that ppl didnt know tpain could actually sing. it also makes me kinda upset lolol. its like when ppl were shocked that britney spears could actually sing really well an that her voice used to be so different
I had a similar response when I first heard lady Gaga unplugged, it helped me respect the post work as an artistic choice rather than just covering up an “artists” bad vocals
I can tell you were surprise and blown away, and I dont know you bro.. My.first time on your. channel T pain bring the real pain..what a talented individual.
@@saralas Auto tune was unique at the time but once everyone started using it, he got drowned out. Then no one would give him the chance to use his REAL voice. Eventhough videos like this and Tiny Desk were already floating around.
Me watching this video for the first time was the only reason I was able to tell that he was the monster on the masked singer haha my parents called me crazy
This actually was slightly autotuned. But it was added after, during the mixing process. So, he still did ALL of that with his own voice and would sound almost exactly the same without it. His Tiny Desk performance would be an example of fully live, unedited vocals.
As you continue your around the world series, I recommend looking up Wagakki Band. Japanese metal using traditional Japanese instruments...I think you'll love it!
Samantha Roebuck he said he used autotune to stand out from the crowd. His first album barely had any autotune and went gold, but his second album had heavy autotune and went double platinum, so he stuck with it.
I knew he had a voice. For him to make the autotune sound so great the voice behind it had to be great. I just didn't know how great. I've heard a lot of prople say that he would sound horrible without auto tune. TPaine had the last laugh. He made auto tune great
If you understand how the old talk box works and the original design of auto tune, you really can appreciate how talented this man was and is. Roger Troutman from Roger and Zapp the creators of computer love and I wanna be your man had excellent vocal skills without the machines. But t pain took their torch to a new level
How absurd is it that the person that made the use of autotune famous has a better voice than most people in the world. Just crazy. As crazy as Wayne Brady on Masked Singer.
Random interjection: La Gozadera by Gente de Zona feat. Marc Anthony Vivir Mi Vida by Marc Anthony Bailando by Enrique Iglesias Bailamos by Enrique Iglesias Tiburones by Ricky Martin Hard Rock Hallelujah by Lordi Norwegian Reggaeton - Nanowar of Steel
You should listen to Billie Eilish - ,bury a friend, No time to die, or her newest my future. Honestly its hard to recommend because I love all her stuff but def a listen
It’s annoying the person who made the video clearly couldnt tell the first clip does have auto tune idk why if he was gonna include that why not do it after one where there’re no post production
That's not auto tune sir, only reverb. Tpain has a natural tone & vibrato that closely resembles autotune. The whole purpose of these stripped down covers are to clear up all assumptions
I've listened to kurt hugo schneiders stuff for a very very long time. His arrangements and productions are just so much on point. His cover with Sam Tsui and Christina Grimmie "just a dream" is his best work to date so worth listening to, I've listened hundreds of times by now. So since you are a metal head have you ever listened to rock from an Australian group called Hands Like Houses? They have a great cover of the Natalia Imbruglia song Torn.
He streams on twitch, is a super big gamer and is one of the most chill and fun loving streamers I've ever seen. The reason he can sing so well is he was told by a radio host that he was trash for using auto tune when he was first coming up. So he went and got vocal lessons and really learned how to use his instrument.
This is false. He could already sing long before releasing his autotune music, but nobody wanted to listen to him until he started using heavy autotune.
He’s been ~singing~ since his Rappa Ternt Sanga debut in 2005, though radio host Charlamagne tha God shamed T-Pain into additional vocal coaching after the singer croaked a few notes on Charlamagne’s old Concrete Jungle show in Charleston, S.C. --- Straight from the Complex article on Tpain
It's definitely a masterpiece and raw talent!! Also this is his best song of all and got lowest views of all his song's 😎👌 my mouth hit the floor when I 1st heard this!!
T-Pain is a 'natural' musical talent and does not need Auto-Tune to enhance his magnificent voice! I love him, period! Shared this video 100 times today!!
Like everyone else suggested, you should see his Masked Singer performances. He won the first season. In other news, a fabulous vocal group you should react to is Anthem Lights. They aren’t truly acapella, because they use accompaniment in place of a beatboxer, though they do occasionally do four-part acapella arrangements. They have been around for quite awhile (since 2011) and they have some of the most angelic voices I’ve ever heard. Each of them has also put out solo music. If you want a place to start, I would recommend the ‘Class of 2018’ medley or ‘The Greatest Showman Medley’ as both of those showcase each of their voices and ranges. Almost nobody has reacted to them and it’s a shame because they’re so talented. Also on the lookout for those Shawn James reactions!
@@saralas lol yep so true. Well, any fan of T-Pain's knew from the first song he did, his voice is VERY distinct. I'm so glad he won and blew everybody away with his talent. :)
T-Pain himself has said he used auto tune the way it was never meant to be used, specifically to be different. Unfortunately he inspired a lot of people to do the same who had no idea what they were doing.
Just subbed and absolutely love your energy. You should check out the band Brothers of Metal and really any of their songs. My personal favorite to game to is "Prophecy of Ragnarok".
I went through all the comments and I don’t think anyone said it yet and I’m not sure if you know this yet…since it’s been a year: if you listen to the order of the mashup, it’s not just a series of his songs, it actually tells a love story and is in itself a separate song. Just in case someone didn’t realize
