Metalic Grinding Noise when Engine Running 

Is there any chance that the belt has been worn badly because it was moving over a pulley that was not moving itself?

Same pulley went bad on my Kizashi at 165k miles. Thankfully it would just sing to me a little bit each morning to let me know it was about to fail.

Wonder if the quality is as good when made in England. Been hearing lots of uncommon weird problems with the Si's over the years.

You can replace the bearings in those pulleys without replacing the pulley. Those bearings are known for going bad.
