The bassist obviously knows his Green Day. Started hammering out the "Welcome to Paradise" Bass solo. Fuck i love Metallica and Green Day. Two of the hardest hard workin rock and roll bands IMO.
Williams Ruthless Figures both are mediocre. Yeah they might have some good tunes but none live up to their original stuff. As a whole both aren’t that good.
That's pretty cool that Metallica played greenday. I'm sure Billy played Metallica when he was a kid then to have these guys play your stuff is gotta be a cool feeling

peanutbutterisfu dude shut up. Metallicas first album came in 1982. Green Days first came in 1987. Green Day never covered Metallica (until a few years back, just for fun). In fact Billie Joes guitar had a sticker that said "Fuck Metal".. you can still look up the pics. They did like Ozzy though. Most of their influences were 60s and 70s Punk and Classic Rock n Roll.
Wow, I'm just not going to scroll down in the comments. All I see is hatred toward Metallica for covering Green Day, Hatred toward Green Day in general... I'm just so sick of it. I love both bands. Metallica was trying to pay respect because Billie Joe was getting help.
It's a shame how people get mad about such a nice gesture. "The world needs them [Green Day]", whether he meant it or not, that was such a great thing for James Hetfield to say, and a nice tribute by the band to play part of American Idiot. Classy move by Metallica that somehow generates internet anger. Shame.
I don't get why people can't just like both bands. They are 2 different genres, they are both awesome. I am a fan of punk, grunge, metal, heavy metal, hard rock, rock, etc. Even Jazz/blues and classical music. C'mon people! Have some range!
Alot of people comparing Metallica to Green Day, which is basically impossible since they play different kinds of music Green Day- Easy, fast and aggressive Metallica- Heavy, loud and complex Let's just leave it at that and enjoy the music.
True but you were a bit too vague. Green Day has MANY difficult complex songs and Metallica has MANY easy ones. Speaking as a guitarist who knows how to play pretty much every song from both bands. 🤘
A lot of people don't know that metallica and green day are pretty good friends. And i like how they put in effort to step out from what they're used to, at least they tried, and it was really cool of them.
TBH he wasn't so good there. He's better than he's been recently, but he's far from perfect, he's still sloppy and misses enough notes to notice... Don't get me wrong though, I love Kirk, in his prime he was absolutely amazing, and I don't forget the man's 53 now, he couldn't possibly play as well as when he was 20. After about 30 years of killing it, old age catches up, his fingers can't follow anymore, and I'd be glad if I could play half as well as he does
+Luke 16 I've never bashed Kirk (don't see reason to especially since I'm not much a guitarist) but Lars is a different story. Being a drummer myself it's cringeworthy watching/listening to him play.

With honesty, I was a Green Day fan when I was a kid. Then I discovered track number 3 off of Ride the Lightning and my mind was blown! Cliff was a god!
This completely changed my views on Metallica. Before I watched this I thought Metallica was a shitty band, with a handful of, 'okay' songs. Seeing them support their follow musicians changed my entire perspective on them. Keep it up Metallica, bands like you give me faith in music.
"American Idiot" was Green Day's St. Anger. No joke. They had underground popularity before a big break with Dookie. The following albums were good but sales dwindled with each new release. They had a big gap after Warning and by that time it was almost 10 years since their biggest success. There was tension among the band and they contemplated hanging it up. Tre and Mike felt Billy was too controlling. They even had weekly bandmeetings to just discuss their feelings and hash out the anger and tension. Just like Metallica Metallica with Phil Towle. Very similar story. Except St. Anger sucked and American Idiot was good
the rockerrr how is that respectless? Metallica was called to do this gig like at the very last possible moment, so the fact that they had time to learn any part of the song is pretty amazing. He also said that he thinks that the worlds needs Green Day and that they're sorting it out. I've done a lot of research on Metallica and they're probably the last band to be respectless towards musicians with alcohol and/or drugsproblems, especially James.
I'm a punk rock fan and big greeday fan~but when I was young I learn a lot of riff of Metallica~I have seen Metallica's concert once in Beijing ,but I can't see greenday because maybe they are not allow in China.
I'm not a green day fan myself. But those guys are pioneers of the Punk Rock genre! Hating on either Metallica or green day is childish, I mean you have every right not to like their music but going as far as insulting them is far beyond ignorant and childish.They are indeed legends and about 90% of bands today have grown up on either tallica or green day.

And he alters it a little depending on the measure in the song, but yeah that's pretty much the signature beat for that song lol. Instead of bass (rest) snare (rest) bass (rest) snare. It's not really a "rest" because they have the hi-hat moving, it's just I can't add a drum tab to my comment, and it's hard to explain in text XD lol
It's a North American crowd, what do ya expect? They're all too busy looking at their phones and trying to take pics/vids. You wanna see crazy crowds? Go see some concerts in Europe, or South America lol
id like to see tre play a thrash beat. they both have totally different styles of playing. tre can play pop punk and lars can play thrash, but not the other way around
+Sulove Tripathee Musicians do know many different styles of music. They dont pick one genre and stay there forever. I have seen Tré jam with jazz, blues and I am pretty sure he can play metal as well. Don't think that just because one's band is one way, they can't play any other. This is like saying Hetfield can only play metal when he is really good at acoustic and he can obviously play rock songs.
