@@kidnamedalaska Thats not Kirk. Thats the guy who tells James that he's playing a riff wrong and who also comes to the room when Lars is having a meltdown.
they probably didnt go too deep in the conversation. Anyway damage is done, both got hurt and they just cant undo. James has a big ego, Jason raised his head finally, you know the rest...
Jason: James! You can't be in a band with me if I take this other Project, right!??? James: .........yes. Jason: (Walks away and and slams door as he leaves).
He says the word “amends,” which leads me to believe James was working a 12 step program. Making amends to those we’ve harmed is the 9th step. It’s deeply personal.
First name megadeth have nothing to do with metallica. Metallica always did compositions way better than megadeth, megadeth have legendary songs, like holy wars, tornado, sinphony... but metallica have something that hook everyone in every song. Dave and megadeth are very good thrashers, metallica are very good musicians.
Cause Metallica was his and Lars band ...they made the music the riffs the lyrics ....no Metallica with out Dave but James gets all the glory.... imagine how you'd feel
I never saw Jason ever wanting to come back to Metallica. I understand everyone’s reasons for not even thinking about accepting Jason back (that being if he did suggest that). But you knew when they picked Rob, they saw forever with him. And James learned to accept that Rob has other projects and so does everyone else. Which is why after this happened he started to sing with others and do other projects. It made the band healthier to explore things.
I wanna hang out with Metallica so I can wear Snitch 7's like that head shrink around the studio. And watch Bob Rock run over Lar's little toes with the wheels on his chair.
At minute 3:01 you hear Lars ask Kirk something, but at the same time you can see Kirk walk out of the room. Not even a second later, Kirk is answering the question ..The power of editing 😂😂
i think that might be the buff guy from the "HE FOCKIN LEFT THE BAND" video (the guy that takes a peak into room thne goes away when lars is shouting" he also had a hair bun and i think he's wearing jeans at that second as opposed to kirks black pants.
The compilers of the _We're a Happy Family_ comp were a buncha doofuses. The "53rd and 3rd" cover is nice, but the "Commando" cover is great. The chorus has brief vocals by James, Lars, Kirk, and Bob, which is obviously something they never did before or since. Check it out if you haven't.
@Daniel Treadwell I don't think you're correct in that assumption considering he has publicly not made it a point to dog Metallica or ask for his position back. He has even gone off the radar a few times over the years.
@Daniel Treadwell "pull a power play" and what is your evidence for that? Jason was no idiot he knew full well he would always be number 4 in Metallica, he knew he had no power or influence over the other 3. It was always James and Lars who called the shots with Kirk being a sort of vice president (a high position but no real power). Jason was basically the mop boy.
@@Fireglo 100% correct. Which sucks, because in the end Jason was such a force of nature and so important for Metallica live. Nowadays they're just a joke: James can't scream anymore (Jason helped him a lot before), Rob can't sing worth shit. Everyone just looks (and sounds) like sleepy old men... P.S. "Jason Newsted and The Chophouse Band Rockin' In The Free World 3-8-2019". He's still got it. He's still rocking with *passion*. A night and day compared to Metallica James/Lars/Kirk who don't seem to even give a fuck nowadays.
@@darkwizard2651 yeah, 40 grand for being basically a "beer buddy" to Metallica is pretty good...... take in mind the fact, that he was completely useless :D:D I bet in the back of his mind he was like "yap, I'm just sitting here, listening to these morons and they pay me such delicious money for nothing...... what a bunch of idiots" :D:D:D
I just watched Some Kind of Monster again the other day, and there was a lot of clips that I remembered seeing that were missing. Like this one, the classic "He focking left the band" and the Raiders show were not in the film. Am I just used to some like extended release or something? Or am I mis-remembering? What the hells going on with that lol.
I'm not surprised they didn't make peace with Jason. Bullies have an extremely hard time facing their gulit and evilness. They bullied the shit out of him. I don't think they ever got over what they did.
Man they shoulda just let him rejoin the band, it would of been better for everyone involved, and Metallica would be a better band for it. I think all Jason really wanted was to hear something that James probably said in that convo they had together, once James said whatever it was, “you know I’m sorry”, or “i wish I had treated you better”, I’m sure it was exactly what Jason needed to hear and then everything coulda gone right back to being Metallica as a band.
Too late brother, too late. A lot of years has passed and the only thing will happen is Jason gonna play with his former band celebrating 40th year of metallica (hope it happen)
The way Lars goes on is confusing. James pointed out that Jason never even hinted at coming back and was in a happy place. They had an absolute right to continue without Jason. The question becomes why didn't they want him back. Rob is a fantastic, skilled bass player. But Jason for me was Metallica. I was always curious why they wouldn't fight to keep a brother.
Jason left because James kept yelling at him to stay away from side projects and stuff like that. Jason was tired of not being able to express himself without Hetfield's approval. Jason always got along well with Lars and Kirk
Wait, what? Jason left the Band and wants back in? I thought Bob was the Bass player, or was it Rob? Oh, this is 9 years old, what album is this? Where did all the long hair go? What is RU-vid?
I wish I could have seen what it would have been like with Jason. Rob was my dawg in Ozzy and Suicidal, but Metallica he joined in during the St.Anger time with too much going on.
Oh man, the Bob Rock & nerd psychologist with his Teva sandals days. They're in a much better place now. I wouldnt listen to them then. Fan from Ride the Lightning 85 thru Justice. I just started listening to them again. And yes I'm 46 years old.
Curious that James acknowledges his wrong doing and how he and band treated him badly - yet there is resentment to jason - why they dont want to accept him back? Ego?
I want to throw a possible scenario out there. I don't think James ever stopped grieving Cliff's death. The bond those two had is indescribable. In footage of some of their early live shows, James would introduce Cliff with something like, "Do you all know my friend Cliff Burton? Everybody wave. HI, Cliff. How ya doin'" Cliff would then go into a bass solo. In an interview with Kirk about the aftermath of the tour bus crash that killed Cliff, he recalls James being completely wasted on booze, going outside a hotel, and shouting, "CLIFF! WHERE ARE YOU, CLIFF!?" On their album "Live Shit: Binge and Purge", after one of the songs, James calls out, "Can you hear us, Cliff?" When James was interviewed on "Little Punk People", he was asked about what superpower he'd like to have. James said, "I want to be able to fix people. Fix broken people. I'd fix Cliff". When asked, "Do you think he hears you?", James responded with, "Cliff hears me. I KNOW he can hear me." That interview was of a few short years ago. And the skull ring James always wears, that's Cliff's skull ring. That man is terrified of losing those he loves. From the song "All Within My Hands": "Love is control. I'll die if I let go."
Yet Can't Get over Getting kicked out of Metallica and Stop Talking About them to Save his life; let alone actually appreciating the fruits of his own labor in what he built with Megadeth.
I really wish there was an interview during this time where they were all together with Jason to discuss some stuff without Phil Towle there. I feel like Phil is more biased towards the Metallica side because they’re paying him millions of dollars every month to be there and of course he’s going to give his input and guidance to the people who are paying him. I feel like if they all met in person and had a heart to heart conversation without someone holding their hands, they probably could’ve reconciled
I bet there was never a real conversation about Jason coming back, or should i say accepting him back. James and Lars just wanted to get another opportunity in front of a camera to do their fake apology and say how over they are the whole thing. This is how it looks when you have a grown adult body of a rock star, but in the same time a brain of socially undeveloped teenager. Still love their music tho.
@@MrParkerman6 KoЯn is a trash band name. They should have called themselves after one of the songs on their debut like Blind, Clown, Ball Tongue, Divine. Any of those is better than KoЯn.
2:37 lol...it's clear James never knew or understood who Newsted was as person because I don't think he ever looked back and knew he made the right decision and to this day he is adamant about that and has gone on and done some amazing things, made tons of music, makes and sells his art, supports his community with his band (TCB) and charity events. Looks like to me he has lived more life than these clowns who are stuck in a bubble of mediocrity.
I find it kind of Hypocritical that James has a problem with Side Projects .He has no problem putting Amazing Vocalists like Corey Taylor , John Bush , Maynard James Keenan , Sammy Hagar , Chris Cornell , and others down for being in more than one band . He says he loses respect for those Vocalists ? That's his Problem . Every Artist doesn' t have the luxury of having World Success in one band for 40 Years like James has had. Other Music Artists have to Re-Invent themselves to Re-sell themselves in the Music Industry to keep their careers going . Otherwise there would be a lot more one hit wonders in Music industry History . Doesn't mean those Vocalists are less than James . Maybe that shows how talented those Vocalists are to be able to make more than one type of Music . James has had no problem Collabing with other Artists he likes , but His " Get Out Of Jail Free Card " is he contends he won't tour with them to weasel out of his Hypocracy .
Only reason i like watching these Metallica videos is the fans entertaining comments in the comment section, you all dont hold back your opinions like a bunch of starry-eyed fanboys would
Sooo was the irony lost on them or was it just edited out? Talking about a bassist that left and might want to come back re Ramones, and how that is mirroring what they are going through to then hear that Ramones Dee Dee is now dead. Hmmmmmmmm......maybe you guys should bury the hatchet and get on with it instead of fucking around. Life is too short.
You do realize that they regretted their overall style on And Justice for All, missed Cliff's songwriting input badly, and had already written some of the black album stuff before Bob Rock was heavily involved?
