In case u didn't know james wears glasses, mostly for reading and looking at tv or phone, he takes them off in interviews and shows, he doesn't wear them all the time
+Chesty Silvertush 2:29 " Man let's see what Metallica is doing, those guys know how to rock 2:33 "Man these guys are metallica? they cryin like babies. 2:36 "Nope I'm gunna go see a real band like Slayer or somtin...
Poor, poor, Kirk just getting interrupted like that. I really do feel that he just wanted all this to be over and for them to be friends again so they could make more music.
+BallSackGames "the guy' who walked in is head of Metallica's security. He's been with them since the 80's. He came in because he thought there was an issue. He saw everything was okay, and played it cool and left the room.
Lars reacts to other things Jason does *Jason returns cookware he borrowed* "He fucking left the pan!" *Jason flies home from Tokyo* "He fucking left Japan!" *Jason doesn't clean up after finishing a Pepsi* "He fucking left a can!"
*Jason goes surfing* "He f×××ing left the sand!" *Jason ditches selling popsicles* "He f×××ing left the stand!" *Jason misplaces a body part during surgery* "He f×××ing left the gland!"
I feel so bad for Lars, after cutting his hair short he tried so hard a few years later to grow it back but it was impossible at that point. Causing him to just look strange
Kirk at the time was the only one not being annoying to Jason. He admitted many times they used him as an escape goat for the anger caused by the death of cliff. Kirk then was the most "relaxed" and less angry, he saw things semi-rationally
Well, what did they expect out of Jason. They shit on him all those years and he said fuck off to the band. Poor Lars didn’t like getting shitted on. Jason is no Cliff by any means, but Jason did Metallica a huge favor by getting them by all those years.
@@Frank-sl7mr No money in this world can pay you to put up with your band "mates" disrespecting you. I'm amazed with the fact Jason lasted so long in the band. He really loved that band, the music, he was a "fan" of the band after all. The band did not see him as an "equal", they saw him as a "hired gun".
It really can't be said enough how unintentionally hilarious and quotable "PERIOD. EXCLAMATION PONT!" is. Great line to use in real life, just to see if anyone catches it.
"I don't get why we have to be the bad guys" Yeah Lars, why would you be the bad guys, you only ran him over every chance you had, cut him out of an ENTIRE ALBUM without him knowing and constantly reminded him that he will never escape Burton's shadow. Ugh, as much as I love Metallica, there are a lot of things that get in my nerves.
Lars might be this tiny guy but he is definitely the leader and the alpha of Metallica. He is a bully but somehow his attitude even if reprehensible at times is what get Metallica together and keep on going.
@@miguelrosado6348 He's certainly the reason they're famous. If it weren't for Lars' business sense they probably wouldn't have even existed. He's gotta be a mean sonuvabitch sometimes to get what he needs for his boys.
When I was 11 years-old-girl Lars epitomized a cool person to me and, also, he inspired me to play drums. I had been binging on Metallica documentaries for ages and was looking forward to Big 4 concerts. Now, I'm laughing at my platonic fascination with a bit of scepticism. He treats himself very seriously, so I think I took with word for his greatness. At least, he's a great example of self-boost and personal built-up to the point of success and importance, despite so-so talent. For sure, he's a great strategist. He surrounded himself with actually talented people and managed their creative process to the point where he, actually, became important. I'm not being cynical, he's a very important part in Metallica artistic equation and he's bringing a lot of good ideas to the table. It takes skills to make one's dream come true of becoming successful in a field without proficiency in a skilled-driven industry. So, after all, there's something about Lars but it's not as literal as he acts it is.
Lars may not be the most technically proficient drummer - but he is a genius in literally every other aspect that comes with running a band. He is the sole reason why Metallica is currently one of the biggest bands in the world. Every single song goes through him and he arranges everything perfectly. He also knows how to do business and many of his business decisions are the reason for the band's success. He is an out-spoken person, who knows how to find the right people and who has enough balls to demand and get what he wants. People underestimate him - there's a reason why his net worth is 350 million.
@@mdnblues currently is not the biggest band in the world. Realistically, they're past their prime but they have huge achievements. One of which is the fact that they're still very creative, kept the band together and aren't shy to break conventions. They're men who have adult children and regular lifes but hadn't lost passion for music. It's really nice to see them enjoying their cozy place in a musical pantheon while being active.
@@mdnblues my comment was about me separating Lars from my childhood imagine of his. I've never complained about his drumming skills, it's not Voivod that I'm focused on admiring drumming technique. I acknowledged his weaknesses while appreciating his overall input and intuition. I was reviewing my childhood image of Lars, being a God who inspired 11-years-old me to start conservatory, who was my biggest inspiration and seemed as the coolest person who walked this Earth, from a perspective of a 20sth-years-old woman who sees him for a regular person with over the top personality, management and production talent. I celebrated his imperfections and recognize his real talent behind cocky, coke-head fasade. Didn't you try to be condescending while rewriting my point in your own words? Meh 🤦
When you see it as a divorce from Kirk's perspective, this part at 0:37 becomes even more funnier. It's like Kirk is the kid in it all and starts wanting to explain what he feels about the divorce as the kid. Lars' reaction says it all. Lmao
2:30 [xXxStudioTech420xXx has entered that chat] StAngerSnareLars: *HE FOCKING LEFT THE BAND! HE FOCKING LEFT THE BAND!!...* WHICH PART OF THAT IS.. *HELLO?!* [xXxStudioTech420xXx has left the chat]
I understand why he left the band. But I also understand Lars, Metallica is a multimillion dollar cash gravy train. After the Napster incident it was clear it is all about the money for them. I think after he left and napster incident they realized without the fans they are not shit and they were in a bad place mentally. They have come clean of drugs and come clean of their demons since then. I think the new basist is good but they need Jason back.. Kinda like Van Halen without Michael Anthony. its just not Van Halen..
@@Torpedomtb Psh...no. You're still on that? Everybody understands now why Lars did that. Someone was going to try to defend the intellectual property that is music; Lars did and it merely postponed the inevitable.
"When did we become the bad guys" By taking out the emotions you all failed to process over cliffs death out on Jason and him being sick of it thats what made you the bad guys
random guy walks in. Looks to his right. Thinking: "Oh, this is the part where they realize he focking left da band." Without missing a beat, he leaves & reports to his boss.
2:29 Guy comes in thinking there's a fight kicking off, realise its just Lars throwing a hissy fit, gives Kirk a smile and walks out, played it all very cool lol
Jason left because James said “Other arrangements can be made,” and threatened Jason with the sack when he said he would tour and sell t shirts with Echobrain. This video paints James as hard done by, he “kept leaving messages”, but this is the same James who also said Jason wasn’t welcome back to the band in a 2003 interview, “I like the [use of the] word 'friend' [in reference to Jason], 'cause he is still our friend, and we want that to remain. I think to remain friends, we have to be honest with each other, and I have to say that the door is not open. We'd love to keep in contact with him and make sure that things stay real, we don't want the press crap that goes on, we want the divorce to be healthy ... And maybe he's forgotten some of that. Maybe a lot of the glamorous parts are missing from his life now. And maybe it's just reality kind of really sinking in now. And we wanna help him through that”. My personal opinion is that’s a super shitty thing to say, very patronising and manipulative. Troll commentary. Basically “you’re not famous anymore, no hard feelings”. That matches up with live footage where James is mean to fans. James is very Jekyll/Hyde. I love his music, but he’s a very controlling guy even now. I doubt I’d enjoy his company on a personal level. If you notice as well, in this video, James blames Peter Mensch and says he wants to drag Jason into the dirt. He deflects his own behaviour and hides it.
I like James ability to play guitar and sing, and without a doubt he's one of the GOAT'S. But your take is unfortuately spot on... James is a very Jekyll/Hyde character and its not even just with Jason, take a look at the public comments he made about former bandmate Dave Mustaine a few years back when Lars and Dave had a mutual interest in some Collab Project. James unfortuately has alot of bitter resentment and undealt personal feelings regarding his personal life and relationships with former band mates, watching him read the crawl card that has pre-scripted nice things to say about Dave Mustaine looked like it was torturing him inside. Personally I don't understand it, I get they all had fights but Jfc.... grow up, should be water under the bridge with everything those guys have went through.
I don't see it that way, I see that Jason was offering to come back but they felt hurt by his decision of leaving in the first place. So, by that time they already though it was not a healthy decision to bring him back, they probably still want someone that only contributes for Metallica and is not going to feel trapped and want to leave again.
The whole band made a point, they were trying to make amends with him and he completely ignored them, although it was Newsteds choice to leave the band. I think Metallica just wanted to end on a good note, but as of right now this is all irrelevant, because he and the band are good friends now.
It's like any relationship ending. Allways there's one of both who wants to make amends, maybe try and get back with eachother. And the other one who wants to be left alone and not think about things like that for a period of time. But time can make things right, as happened here. Metallica and Jason seem to be good friends again, maybe even better than when Jason joined (and was in) the band.
Pretty sure that was security. Hears a yell. Goes in room to make sure there is no emergency. “Oh, it’s just Lars being a bitch again. Nothing to see here.” Turns and leaves.
2:31-2:38 guy in background was like “just gonna stroll in here... YIKES! lars is at it again... Just gonna look around the corner and pretend im looking for someone... now I'm gonna get the fuck out of here...”😂😂😂
I love when Lars gets heated cuz he never gets super negative or aggro but hits his boiling point fairly easily but keeps its under the line of being too much or dangerous or wrongful.
Jason left because he felt like he wasn't growing as a musician and felt like he was being held back (just watch the Scuzz interview). I love James but he's way too clingy.
even tho they gave him crap alot Lars was probably the one that cared the most about him, he always remebered his bday and when he said " i dont understand that part" you can hear his voice breaking
@@sadsadasdsadasdsadas oh the big baby. Being limited and people fucking with you? There's an absolute way to deal with people that treat you like that and it isn't rocket science or degrading. Play along. They were trying to get out of Jason what they missed from Cliff. Jason never filled the shoes left by Cliff. He didn't try to fit in with the band. If you're in a band with people that fuck with each other, and then you don't join in, you're going to be the odd man out. Jason let the pranks fuck with him. You've seen the guys from Jackass right? Do they seem like they take it easy, or are they complete dicks to each other? That's how some people are. Jason didn't fit. Great talent, but he didn't fit in. Nobody's fault. Maybe they can all take a little blame for not booting his ass/leaving prior to the 15 year mark.
Hahahaha, how can you not love Metallica? Which other band would give us such beautiful moments? Not to mention those brilliant comments below. Thanks, Lars!
I know there’s still for some reason a big dispute over Dave Mustaine and Metallica, but I just gotta day Kirk Hammet is an entertaining and nice guy. Even though they bullied Jason, Kirk nowadays still apologizes because of it
"When did we turn into the bad guys?" 1986. When you let someone into your band and bullied him relentlessly, publicly and privately, for decades, Lars.
