@@maryjul9372Jason is a multi millionaire and gets to do whatever he wants in life. He's in a ton of bands that he can do gigs with whenever, and at any point he could call up Lars and pop up at a show for a song if he wanted to.
You know whats even sadder. People always ask "what happen to Echobrain it didnt become anything big"... exactly Jasons point. It wasnt meant to be bigger than Metallica.
If you work for Coca-Cola you can’t take a job with Bob’s Soda Co. If you play for the Yankees you can’t also play for Memphis Redbirds. If you wrestle for the WWE you can’t also wrestle for the Lee County Wrestling Federation.
@@evol_si_dogwhat are you talking about? Musicians have side projects and multiple bands on the go all the time. What Jason wanted wasn’t unreasonable. James was being a control freak and a dick.
@@evol_si_doglook at Anthrax. Scott Ian has had multiple projects, look at Dream Theater, and the list can go on and on. Metallica is a monster, so it was a selfish and egocentric behavior, because James and Lars are a couple of douchebags. A lot of people knows that, others live with their eyes blinded and in denial, what can you do...
Hats off to you Jason for having the balls to walk out from Metallica. Such a shame they didn't appreciate your talent. Metallica should do this man right by fixing and Justice for All with Jasons bass.
Just more proof that they never really respected Jason and that they felt like they owned him. Fucking Lars even says in Some Kind of Monster that "he was never really one of us" prior to his now infamous hissy fit: "HE FOKIN LEFT THA BAND"
@@Dirtnap1986woah, I’ve never even thought about it like that. You’re absolutely right. I hope that’s been pointed out to at least James. Lars would stop listening and just wait for his moment to react.
Either way. Your not in them shoes. U not walking that road. This happens with any other band. Don't be a hypocrite but more understand of the Situation jason put himself in
@@michaelscott4909 tbh Kirk makes me sad in the movie, he feels like the child of a divorce between James and Lars I just feel so bad for the guy being stuck there. You right though Kirk's always chill
Jason you left at the right time brother. Much respect! Cliff would've been proud of your bravery for the boots you had to fill. Saw this guy play at the LA Monsters of Rock Tour. A true beast
I know right. What kind of asshole do you have to be to make a comment like your actually talking to jason. And cliff would be proud. Lol. What an asshole@@randymunguia5837
I saw Metallica at lakewood amphitheater for their summer saniterium tour and James hurt his back and Jason sang the entire set, it was freakin awsome! I feel so lucky to have seen that, the emotion he put into the vocals and his playing was just the best, they later came back and played a make up show at Phillips arena i think so i got to see them twice for the price of once a d i enjoyed the first show more, Metallica lost my respect when they ditched Jason
They didn’t deserve you~~~ you didn’t deserve what you experienced ~~ to be shut down creatively~~ that will literally kill your soul. I’m glad you chose to walk your soul path, find your soul tribe of ppl that appreciated what you brought to the table. Rock on JN.🤘🏻✨🤘🏻
He's a musician. He wanted to create music. They wouldn't let him create music for Metallica (besides parts in like 3 songs over 15 years). Creative writing is def not the same release lol @@scottashe984
Jason is such a sweet guy with - lot of integrity and so humble too. He didn’t deserve the crap Metallica put him through and I’m glad James and Lars have acknowledged their shitty behaviour and apologised. He was AWESOME in Metallica and that whole drama didn’t have to happen. Just my 2c….
It's unfortunate James had such massive abandonment issues, because at the core that's what it was. Everyone important in his life was taken away; so when he sensed Jason abandoning him he went ballistic. Sucks cuz Jason was the bomb.
@Graylegs everybody has pain, no excuse to be a dick. Instead of seeking God and healing, he took it out on Jason. Don't say he wasn't envious of Newsted.
@@erich7662 Oh I know for a fact he was jealous of Jason. I think the reason his writing credits were so low was strictly due to envy and wanting to keep him down a peg all the time.
You know what’s even sadder. If I remember he said in an interview not long ago that he can’t play that style music anymore he can’t play at that speed anymore. Which is honestly sad to hear.
What a BOSS! I have SOO much respect for Jason. This man is what it means to have COURAGE OF YOUR CONVICTIONS! Plus Metallica hasn’t put out anything memorable since Jason. Great backing vocals and a hell of a hype man! JASON IS METAL 🤘
@@midnight347it's not a excuse to treat someone like human shit guess what people die everyday we all lose our friends and family and it's sad and we are sad and maybe even angry about it but that does not excuse us to treat people like shit
They never treated Jason like a true member of the band, they always lorded over their original member status and acted like they were above him. Buried his bass in the mix on Justice. No side projects, no creative outlets, no ability to write. Just play your bass and be happy we let you do that. Oh and also you're going to make way less money than us.
@@msw0322Well Jason didn't contribute to the previous 3 albums so he wouldn't get any pay for that but he'd get the same revenue of performance/merch sales etc as the others from the moment he joined.
@@deletedhero5579people just love painting Metallica to be the evil bad guy and Jason to be the poor innocent guy who was picked on. They made him world famous and made him a mega millionaire he's set for life. He can screw around doing whatever projects he wants now because of the financial cushion they allowed him. Yet people say poor pitiful Jason how dare evil Metallica treat him that way. I think people just look for reasons to hate on Metallica.
I admire you, Jason, for stepping out and doing your own thing outside of Metallica and if James and the guys had problem with that well then that’s their problem. You did what you had to do what’s best for your career. Much respect for that my friend.
All the time. There is no comparison. I remember the energy that Jason delivered live, when I was a kid he was my favorite in the band, the most heavier and energetic.
@@BW9971 nah non existent as well and Jerry is way better with Mike Ines. That's probably why he only used them once or maybe cause the tallica guys are so selfish they don't allow him to do "other people projects" uuhghhh. But Trujillo belongs to Suicidal Tendencies in my opinion.
Got to meet him at ozzfest with voivod. I was literally awe struck i use to wat h bi ge and purge everday before and after school. As a fellow bass player and basically unknowingly taught me how to play. He such an all around nice guy he must of picked up on how nervous i was. He shook my hand and stopped the line and talked to me it was pretty badass.
To this day I truly don't think that James and Lars really understand just how much the fans adored, and still adore, jason. Jason took over live and that's real hard to do with James as a front man. I have heard Lars say some very nice things about Jason in recent years and essentially fess up to how wrong they were. James not so much to be honest. I just don't think they realize the affection that Metallica fans who were around back then still have for jason. He will always be a member of the band.
They treated this poor man like crap. He gave them their all, never complained when they hazed him mercilessly and still speaks positive of them to this day. Mad respect for him.
From what I’ve seen from interviews and documentaries. Jason was the right choice but came in at the wrong time. As Metallica were still mourning the loss of Cliff burton.
Jason. He did the best thing getting out of that band after you left they sucked only concert I’ve ever booed at in my life. I think you’re great at what you do keep it up.
That is because they learned from their mistakes and have grown as people. That is what human beings do. During that time Jason left the band was clearly having lots of issues.
@@njredcrow9713exactly what? They've grown as people and actually learned from this why are people so stupid? Would you rather them still be like this? I mean come on.
Always hated he had to leave, for himself and his other creative ideas/outlets that he wanted to stretch out and to pursue, but I always understood. If James and Lars would have just let him pursue his side projects/bands, instead of being so f***ing selfish, then he would probably still be with the band even to this very day. I always loved his band he had put together, Newsted, and still own their EP and their album that they released, but hated that he didn't stretch it out a little longer with that particular band, and make another album. Never will forget seeing Jason on That Metal Show one night back in 2013, I believe it was, and they aired a portion of the video for Soldierhead...that automatically had me hooked right there! I went out the next day, and picked up the album. Good times back then. If I remember correctly, Jason was pretty much paying for anything that Newsted was doing/playing, in terms of expenses, and travel, so it most definitely was not feasible and financially sound, as he stated that he was just doing it out of the love for the music, so again, I get it, but they/the band were awesome though.
Havent seen you since i hung out backstage in 92 after the show in norfolk ( yeah im sure you remember 😂😅) but always had a warm feeling every time i thought about it. Despite being a movie producer in LA since 93, and working w onvioys famous ppl often, i was treated so kindly by you and you chilled at the table and drank a beer n just b.sd for an hour or so. The other guys were cordial, you were kind. Actually Lars was sweet. He is a hugger. That was nice. I felt it annoyed james i said hello so i left him alone. I pray all your projects are fulfilling for you. Loving how you spend your hours every day is true success. God bless and keep you, Renee Roland
Im glad I found this video. I miss you. Im glad you got to see their true colors. Cliff wouldn't have appreciated them treating you like that for fifteen years. I'd rather see and hear you play then that other guy . Good luck much respect
Jason is also one of the only guys ever to be in a band that big, live the lifestyle, have all the women and drugs under the sun. Then when he decided it was time, walked away completely without any baggage or drug issues that many others at that level had and sometimes didnt survive because of it. I have the utmost respect for that man. He got in, did it, got out and has been smooth sailing ever since. Theres a lot to be said for that.
No really, you have to give this guy respect. He wasn't just playing guitar on the corner of the street, he was your everyday badass motherfuker that played in metallica you got to give him that you can't give away what the guitarist can do and just say something about it as if it doesn't exist. You 😮❤to give the guitarist the respect for its tonality. Just like this guy you have to give him his respect for his position in the entirety of it all. Flat out he deserves that respect.🤔❤👍 after all what is Metallica without honorable Metallica fans? 🤔👍bin
Jason only ever showed loyalty, respect and enthusiasm for Metallica and they never fully accepted him. Damn shame. Glad he’s able to find that respect for himself.
He was always being held back creatively so he needed to put out something he had some say in. I respect his decision n it was the absolute final nail in the metal "Metallica" n they became completely commercial rock.
