This is a modern Metallica "classic" IMO. It's rare for a band to impress me this much, this deep into their career. A lot of the Hardwired songs are a great blend of all their eras, this song is a great example.
100% agree! I've been recently revisiting them and can't believe they're STILL going strong! Heard Hardwired album for first time last week and was instantly impressed with every song.
What an epic song. Anyone saying they're no longer relevant: YOU are not relevant. Thank you so much Metallica, for continuously making absolutely great music. There's no other band like you.
That ending solo was so amazing. Had so much emotion from kirk and is definitely a very unique improvisation, now of course all improvised solos are unique but you get what I mean. It was powerful in other words.
These last few shows have sounded super tight, especially Lars. I feel like they are using metronomes for these upcoming concerts to prepare for s&m two
They don't use a tempo track for the entire song, but Lars has one in his ear to start the track off at the right speed. I think that technique is new for him, but it helps get the guys all on the same page right at the start of a song. The ebb and flow during the song is what makes Metallica human.
Metallica: Halo On Fire Obey, obey Come won't you stay Sincere, sincere All ends in tears Endure, endure Thoughts most in cure Concede, concede But both shall we bleed Oh, halo on fire The midnight knows it well Fast, is desire Creates another hell I fear to turn on the light For the darkness won't go away Fast, is desire Turn out the light Halo on fire Allure, allure Sweetness obscure Abide, abide Secrets inside Deprive, deprive To feel so alive Obey, obey Just don't turn away Oh, halo on fire The midnight knows it well Fast, is desire Creates another hell I fear to turn on the light For the darkness won't go away Fast, is desire Turn out the light Halo on fire Prayers cannot get through Return to sender Unto which of you Shall I surrender Twisting in disguise Dark resurrection Lighting up the skies Wicked perfection Too dark too sleep Can't slip away Open or close My eyes betray Beyond the black Come won't you stay Hello darkness, say goodbye Hello darkness, say goodbye Hello darkness, say goodbye
Maybe there are bands who are more qualified but Metallica has those songs, that touch my heart and I have this unique feeling when listening to them. It's indescribable. Also maybe there are singers who are better than James vocally, but his voice makes me tingle.
DAAAAAAAMN THE BAND WAS TIGHT ON THIS TRACK, LARS USING HIS WRISTS, AND FEET DOUBLE DRIBBLING, AND KIRKS SOLO ON FIIIIIIIIRE!! The audio is exceptional , you can hear everyone really well. I gotta check out the rest of this show. WELL DONE FELLAS.
I've seen all Halo on Fire performances they've uploaded and this is the best one! James' vocals sounded solid and Kirk improvised but didn't screw up the solo, it was cool though.
FN fine tuned machine. Like fine wine… only getting better with age. Their musical progression over the course of the last 10 years is amazing. Looking forward to the boys coming back to the states.
When I first heard this song that intro took me down a different path than what led to the verse, and I have to say it took me a couple listens to accept the direction it went in. This now is probably one of my favorite songs by them. I guess you should never judge based off expectations.
Every video I've watched of this tour, Lars is off his stool at the song's conclusion, and pretty often during. Rarely seen a drummer get so involved with the crowd, it's awesome :D
I was at this show and the funny thing is that it was a surprise. My stepdad knows someone who knows the organizer for the event. So he managed to score my a free ticket that the band hand picks to a lucky few. I found out mere hours before the show. Amazing night and amazing stepdad. Metallica was on their A-game.
Metallica! Metallica! Metallica! We love you keep on rocking! Excellent performance you guys were on fire! Loved the ending, take care much love from Illinois USA!
@@ddppbbqq I wouldn't mind a "Garage Inc 2" but NO "S&M 2". Probably my least favourite Metallica album. The chances of a "Master Of Puppets 2" is zero to fucken nil. ☹😢
People who dislike this were not at that show, I was. It was a fantastic show start to finish. Gothenburg loved it and it set a Nordic attendance record for the venue.
Brilliant brilliant briliant! Love these guys, love this song and love how awesome they sound live. Just wish RU-vid would stop spamming their ads right in the middle of the guitar solo. That really is just spitful.
The last 3 minutes are absolutely amazing. Reminds me watching Kirk live at the O2 Arena in 2009(?) right in front, at the first row during the middle part of The Outlaw.
I saw them twice and was lucky enough to get Halo on both shows! It was Bologna on the 12th February last year and Milano on the 8th of May this year! \m/
